Have you noticed a jump in views since the world went in to lockdown? I've been binge watching all of yours since the UK shut down. Loving every minute. What a fantastic couple you are.
Your videos are always so interesting, never boring, no click bait, very pleasant and peaceful, you don't sell your selves, keep it up, you two look to always have a wonderful time. Dee and Deb
Well, here we are ,Nov 14 2020. What a difference a year makes! Great plans for the future have came to a crunching halt. The one thing that has not changed is the quality and how enjoyable it is to watch your videos! Keep it up and I hope the 2 of you are doing well. Looking forward to seeing more great videos. Thanks 🛶
All of your videos are great. Especially pleasing is seeing how well you engage with the local community, even learning the actual language. Thank you for your effort.
Another great video. So interesting and full of a charm that is all your own. You're my favourite sailing channel because you go to go to places others don't and the quality of your story you tell and the seamless way it's all produced.
I follow a few sailing channels and I keep seeing the same islands in some, your films are all NEW sights and that's just another reason why I love watching! Yes please go back to Indonesia to take some more film. What a journey lol Paul
Paul Vincent , amazing how many fishing boats still being built. Fly into Bali and see the number of layer up fishing boats...the seas must be just about fished out!
Came across Matt and Amy at ep30. I enjoyed it so much that I have now BINGE watched all episodes and am up to date at ep64.. I can't begin to describe how much pleasure they have given me. Each episode seemed to me better than the last. The presentation, photography, composition and enthusiasm all adds up to a superb series which I for one will not miss one second of. Thanks Florence. One question.....how do you find the music you so cleverly blend into the appropriate shots? Full sails and fair winds for your future travels. John Burgess.
Hi John, Thanks, we try to continually improve our videos by learning and with the help of our patrons improving our equipment. We have mainly used hooksounds for music and they actually now sponsor our channel by allowing us to use any music from their site for free. We list the music that we have used and where we got it from in the description of each video.
Fabulous views on the cave swim, must have been an amazing experience. In 1970 three-quarters of Borneo was covered by rain forest. But today Borneo is losing rain forest at twice the rate of other tropical jungles. So sad. An estimated 30 percent of the rain forest is already destroyed by illegal logging, palm oil and pulp plantations, and forest fires.
Thanks again for a wonderful video, I love it that you love Indonesia. An amazing and beautiful country filled with fantastic people. My husband and I will be setting off on our sailing adventure to Indonesia next year, and I have really enjoyed watching your videos.
What the corperate greed dont understand is, we cut down all the trees ,we loose the oceans, we loose the oceans , we will loose the earth !!! Nice vid. Happy sailing be safe ⛵⛵⛵
Thanks Guys. Look out we're coming back around! We hope you guys are enjoying the fruits of all your labors on Prism. This time next year we will be back in the Atlantic, we look forward to catching up with you!
And Thank you for showing as much of Indonesia as you have... it’s been an awesome, wonderful, sweet ride. You’ve made every stop an enjoyable moment! So many places to go, so many things to do... cheers 🥂
That's how all boats were built for thousands of years it's a method that has stood the test of time they only been using other materials for a little over a hundred years
Your videos are simply outstanding! likely I will never have the opportunity to see Indonesia in person but thanks to your guided tour and superb photography I have a very good idea of what it must be like. Thanks for sharing your adventures! I hope you don't experience "digestive discomfort" with the local food. We take a lot for granted with our ready access to refrigeration.
Thanks Tom. We had no problems at all with the local food through Indonesia, and we tried a lot of new dishes! Indonesia was actually a lot more hygienic than some places we have been!
Another fabulous video! You takes us places most will never know. Thank you. Matt looks very handsome with his longer hair. Just saying.... Fair winds to you both!
This video came across my computer at the perfect time! I was waiting on hold for 20 minutes to speak to an airline representative about a very minor issue. I was mad that so much of my time was being wasted, as I had already finished all of my other business that needed attending to in my office. Boom, there it was, a notice that my favorite sailors had just posted another video. As always, your adventures are wonderful, thanks.
How funny to see those rock formations... We have the same in Quebec, called "flower pots". Millions of years ago it was warm and humid here like in Indonesia, but right now it's covered of snow ! Have a look at the Mingan national park at www.pc.gc.ca/fr/pn-np/qc/mingan . Also your videos are really interesting and well done. I especially appreciate your kindness with the people of all those countries, and the efforts you are making to speak a little bit of their languages. Thank you really much to both of you.
My favorites: the look inside the cave, the market (yum and yuck!) and whenever you describe how you have adapted (motor scooter/ folding bike). Through the magic of your videos, I'm taken form the cold, raining place I am to a warm equatorial region on the other side of the planet. You do an awesome job of taking me there. Looking forward to the next one. I wonder do private sailors have an equator-crossing ceremony? Maybe in the next episode...
Cheers to you both as always! Still looking for that illusive⛵️ to cast my lines and finally set sail. Trying to exercise patience in the process is proving to be a challenge for sure... Fair winds and following seas 🤙
If you stop in west sumatra before crossing, visit us at cubadak island. Best anchorage around padang, most of the sailing boat use our bay as starting point for the crossing. Cheers. Love your video.
@@SailingYachtFlorence Hope so.... usually May or June is the best time to start crossing. If you need some info about west sumatra do not hesitate to contact me .
Given that you guys have made the trip across 'the ditch' (Tasman Sea NZ to Australia), In your opinion, could someone make the crossing in 10m (33ft) Catamaran? or possibly a similar sized mono?
Hi Ishaak, Thanks. We are currently planning to sail further north via Chagos, but if we don't get a permit to visit Chagos then we will probably head to Mauritius instead.
Hello I have a question if you don't mind this year in June we are going to be sailing from the UK to France Spain Mediterranean and we would like to do a trip down to the Canaries and back, as our boat is 40 years old we are having trouble getting fully comprehensive insurance to cover us down to the Canaries the Mediterranean seems fine but not the Canaries where do you get your insurance from?. We do have a full survey which was done in January 2018 but still having problems? If anybody could give us some tips or answers it would be very much appreciated, thanks
The big boys are Pantanius and Top Sail for cruising boat insurance and they seem to charge the most. There are many others though, we can't recommend anyone as you never know if they are any good until you have to claim. We really dislike insurance renewal time when we have to request all the quotes and compare the policies to see if they actually give us the cover we need. It is always very time consuming and expensive, every time we consider going un-insured but so far have always ended up paying. It is becoming more difficult to get insurance as several companies are only interested in insuring higher value yachts, i.e. over £75K.
@@SailingYachtFlorence thank you so much for the information we have now managed to get some quotes off y yachts, top sail and gjw, pantannius where not willing to cover our trip to the Canaries, most likely because we have no paper qualifications but we do have lots of experience, it seems to be a lot of hassle with the insurance, I dislike it as well, we are thinking of just getting third party only as it is cheap and will do for popping into marinas for water and diesel when we have to
You have recruited wonderful adventures which have inspired all your supporters and engineered captivating videos to tell us all about them. Thanks so much.
Great stuff again. Did you need any sailing license/certificates when you left UK to sail the world and does your insurance for the boat cover worldwide?
Hi Mike, Before we left we believed we needed some certifications so we made sure we got them, but we have never ever been asked for them by any officials. Yes our insurance covers world wide, we have to give them a list of where we are going at renewal time.
Hi .. you have mentioned in a couple of occasions you have joined a rally.. which rally is that ? Is it an official ´join’ for which you pay or are you just ´tagging along ´
Hi Andy, We joined the sail2indonesia rally, but we did it directly through Raymond Lesmana in Indonesia rather than the Kiwis that run the website. Raymond works for the Indo Tourist board and actually runs the rally on the ground, it is cheaper to join direct through him but you have to get yourself to Indonesia first. M&A
Went to Belitung in the end of last year, for us Belitung is my favorite destination better than Bali because it's not touristy, not far from Jakarta (cheaper flight ticket), traffic jam doesn't exist because cars only a few, almost no ticket entrance to any tourist destination, local foods so authentic and delicious. My wife picked this place for retirement and want to come back there. Btw. Why don't you buy RO Machine in Indonesia it's very cheap, only $100 for 7 stages 50 GPD RO machine.
