OUTSTANDING ending. Any time I have to mop up after an episode where sights and sound match perfectly, is a good thing. Now im droning in my own tears.😀
You guys are just so lovely. Cute little kiss at the end too. You're such a lovely couple! The production and editing is fantastic. Love the voice overs and the google maps images, the wide pans and the drone shots but please dont lose the Florence heart and touch with the new tech. Your posts gives me genuine smiles and warmth in some dark times. Please stay safe and fair winds to you!!
A stunning reminder of how incredibly beautiful our Earth is. If anything that’s come from this tragedy we’re all enduring right now is...we’re giving Mother Earth time to herself to heal. The flyover footage and the music at the end was brilliant. Thank you for the respite. It’s so needed. Stay safe & well.❤️
We've been following you for over a year now... Stunning as always. And so needed right now as we're in lockdown in the UK... a little vicarious travel lifts the spirits. Hope you guys are keeping safe and well x
Hi Maria, We are good thanks, our videos will always be behind us and out of date, we keep our Facebook and Instagram a little more up to date with reality. M&A
The silhouette of a sweet bit of sugar with the mountain ocean view in the background summed up this video, a breath of fresh air. We are restricted to our home with a “Shelter In Place” order from our community government. I cannot go back to work for a month, all because of the dreaded Coronavirus. Your video is perfect, just what we need. Thank you so much. Texas
Just found you after following a few other sailing couples over the last few weeks and yours is my favorite. While self-quaranteening will be looking forward to viewing many more of these. Thanks, really nice job!
Looks like you found a veritable paradise in Langkawi. Fantastic drone footage along with your peerless narrative. Please be safe in these perilous times.
Looks to be you’ve got this drone piloting down pretty good? What a wonderful stop over in. beautiful countryside. Every stop an adventure to remember!
the scenery in indeed stunningly beautiful, shame that these motor boats race with hundreds through this amazing beauty, You guys are blessed to experience all this beauty, always love your video's, PS the drone footages are stunning
What an awesome video once again. Thanks for the amazing views from Langkawi. Just visited there two years ago, in a resort, in Teluk Datai, northwest corner of the island. The sunsets were amazing and I was dreaming of being there with my own small sailing yacht. Maybe one day, maybe one day.
Wow, what a workout. Well done, and what a reward for such a steep climb. Really needed this celebration of Nature, since I had to cancel a hiking trip to the Amazon this week. Such is life these days. Stay safe out there.
Really good vid. Brought a tear to my eye seeing that beautiful island landscape and the sailing. Stuck in Blighty when I was supposed to be crew on a yacht from BVI to Hiva Oa starting this week.....hey ho. Stay safe. 😷 Peace and love to all humans🙏
I’d bet you guys have a lot of armchair sailors watching, like me. I’d love to hear a video where you talked about what to look for in a cruising yacht if any of us were ever inclined to make the plunge. Just in case you get bored on the Indian Ocean and need something to shoot that doesn’t involve leaving the boat!
Hope you two are well. Be careful docking. You might get stuck in quarantine. Sailors everywhere are getting stuck. Re-provisioning is difficult out there. Catch as much fish as you can.
Hi guys, really interesting episode as always. Some great footage from your drone, I bet that's great fun to fly as well?!? While we're home bound and frustrated, we're dreaming of our circumnavigation in our Heritage 37. We're imagining what optional extras we're going to take with us. After 3 years of traveling, are there any items on Florence that in hindsight you wouldn't have taken/fitted? For example it looks like you have great fun in your sailing tender so do you need your kayaks? Your SSB radio? Just wondering. :)
Hi Dean, Thank you. The drone is really adding another dimension for us. To answer your question: For us the sat phone (iridium go) is more flexible and easier to use than an SSB. Inflatable kayak is very useful for getting ashore when the tidal range is high, much easier to carry up to the high tide line than a dinghy! (also fun when you have guests) Recently we have not used our folding bikes much as in Asia it is so hot and so cheap to rent a scooter, but in cooler climes where they have paths and roads the folding bikes are great. The only tool we left behind was a tap and die set, we have used every tool we have on board and wish we had not left the tap and die set at home! Longer term we might get rid of the quarter-berth cushions and put in a better form of storage organisation there instead. We have never used the shore power lead as we live on 100% solar power. We brought too many warm clothes and have a bag of jumpers and thermals taking up space. M&A
@@SailingYachtFlorence Hi guys, thanks for a full answer - really appreciate it! You're right about the kayak (we have a similar one) although I didn't think you'd have much of a tidal range where you are, obviously I was wrong! Florence is a good size yacht but not so big that you don't have to be really careful what you take. I complete understand why you use your quarter berth for so much stowage and why taking the cushion out will help manage that space better. That said it does limit your options when you have guests. All a compromise but all very doable :)
Those stakes in the sea are called "unjang' in local Malay dialect, set up by local fishermen. Its meant to attract fish. The most famous tale from Langkawi is that of a woman who was accused of adultery 200 years ago. She was tied to a tree and stabbed to death despite her pleas of innocence. The story goes on to say that she bled white blood, and proceeded to curse the island for seven generations. That's why Langkawi Island is not as developed as Penang Island.
Cor, looks 'orrible there ;-) This darn lockdown has put my departure date back a bit - was supposed to be setting off in two weeks time :-( 14:12 for god's sake get a room, lol! :-D
Hi Paul, Sorry to hear your plans so affected but probably better than it happening just after you had left. We are now very unlikely to be crossing the Indian Ocean this year so are currently hanging out in some of the more remote islands off of Indonesia's Western Sumatra. Looks like we are in a holding pattern until the world deals with the virus, maybe we can cross the Indian Ocean next year. Matt and Amy
@@SailingYachtFlorence you have a good point there. I was reading in Cruisers Forum yesterday a post from someone whose parents were half way across the pacific, headed for FP. They set off before it all "kicked off" but, of course, pretty much everywhere has now closed the ports so they are in a bit of a pickle! Coincidentally another post I was reading was from a cruising newbie and your channel was mentioned at least twice in the thread - the "how much does it cost" and the "boat tour" episodes. www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f74/ruin-my-dreams-please-231965.html Anyway, I'm glad you are both safe and well and I guess if you have to be isolated somewhere, there are worse places to be doing it than Western Sumatra!
Make up? Special effects, make up? Curious, does Matt have a beard on Florence and the hike but not so much on river dinghy trip? Once again stunning cinematography. Thanks!
Hi Pax, the hike was actually a week or so after the dinghy trip. plus we are not very good with the continuity of hair cuts etc (Amy cuts Matt's hair), Matt refuses to wear make up and we don't have a special effects budget... :-)
Believe me when I say that you are the luckiest couple around. Nevermind the scenery just being able to isolate from the global madness that has come upon us all. My own boat is stuck in the yard, been told it cant be launched until the crisis is over. By then it will be end of season so I'm probably looking at next year. I'm not even allowed in to the yard to work on her. Everything but everything is closed down. Be careful when and where you make landfall.
Its a little bit different for us, we want to find somewhere to stop that we can get supplies but no-where wants us and we keep getting moved on. We are in the opposite situation to the rest of the world it seems! Luckily it looks like we may have a place that will accept us a couple of days sail away now. phew.
At the moment yes, living on a well stocked boat is probably one of the best ways to achieve social distancing! We are a couple of months ahead of the videos and now in Indonesia (remote islands) where we will probably stay whilst the world deals with this crisis.
OUTSTANDING ending. Any time I have to mop up after an episode where sights and sound match perfectly, is a good thing. Now im droning in my own tears.😀

That kiss was epic, nice nice nice.
Real, beautiful, scenic, paradise lost. Stay healthy, stay safe & thanks for creating a masterpiece! I needed it!

The drones taken your videos to a new dimension, excellent.

Looks amazing, its childhood dream to explore island jingles. 👍

Solid.

Great drone vision. Careful with covid. Consider the incubation period b4 sailing.
It looks just epic :-)

Been there dozen times doing visa run
Where are you now in real time? Hope you are safe?
Did you make your own dinghy, or did you buy it? If you bought it, please give information.
They built it from plans. It is one of the more sporty designs. They can move at a good bit.

Florence is for sale ?
No she is not, we still have half the world to sail around!
What is your covid 19 stategy ?
"Lot's of tourists"? "Pretty busy"?
This is probably nothing comparing to a year ago.
while if u come again to langkawi , pls do contact me , iam following your journey from the begining
