  • Sedans are losing their popularity slowly but there are few who still swear by them. The Hyundai Verna is a good, if not the best, sedan in its segment. We recently got to drive Verna DCT and Verna CVT - both automatic cars. The comfort and spaciousness of a sedan combined with the ease of automatic. But which automatic transmission (and in turn engine) is better suited for you? Sagar finds out.

    Got the NA because of the affordability! But my heart was for Turbo and its mileage. However since the running of my car is 5000-7000km a year so went for a NA model.

    I have a NA IVT version and it has lead departure warning even though the brochure says it doesn't. However it is not consistent in putting up a warning. It's a hit or miss case

    Turbo DCT. Once you have driven a turbo petrol, it's difficult to go back to a NA CVT.
    However if the choice is between Verna and City for NA CVT, I would choose the Verna IVT.
    This is based on extensive test drives

      Brother, how does a turbo petrol feel when compared to a diesel ? Does it offer the instant torque of a diesel ? I remember our old innova 2.5 could climb up slope just by releasing the clutch without any acceleration....please share your experience on turbo petrol & it's torque delivery

    • @6ixTacos
      @6ixTacos Год назад

      @@lordofsevenrealms Its the same with all turbo petrol's. It will move when you lift off the clutch. Characteristics are largely similar between a TP and a TD.

    • @lordofsevenrealms
      @lordofsevenrealms Год назад +1

      So that instant torque is available like a diesel ? Could it climb up a slope just by clutch release ? Or does it need to reach the turbo rev range for the torque to kick in ?

    • @Kunal0180
      @Kunal0180 Год назад

      @lordofsevenrealms First thing there is so such thing like an instant torque unless you are driving an electric. And if you mean if it has enough pulling power then see the numbers. 253 NM od torque in a petrol engine. And I tell you what it pulls like crazy leaving diesel engines behind. However the top speeds of let's say Verna Diesel and Verna Petrol should be same more or less. But the mid range of Verna turbo is insane! At third gear it goes over 140 and on 4th almost goes 180 plus.

    • @6ixTacos
      @6ixTacos Год назад

      @@Kunal0180 yep agreed. Top speed for the 1.5 is 215 tho, slightly more than the earlier ones

    How do you say the turbo gives lesser fuel efficiency (at the beginning of the video)? Technically speaking, aren't they supposed to give better mileage when kept in the turbo range, or am I missing something here?

    • @dopamine814
      @dopamine814 Месяц назад

      As turbo is very sensitive to driving habit,in most of yhe cases it gives lesser avarage comparatively IVT.

    Love your reviews. I have a question. Now a days everyone is going for SUV or compact SUV. Why? What are the drawbacks of a, sedan like this?

    • @Rnk_Dr
      @Rnk_Dr 7 месяцев назад +1

      Road presence is where its at. You get that big-car feel in an SUV. And Indian roads can have 10 inch deep potholes in the middle which might give serious problems with a sedan due to low ground clearance. Factor in poorly made speed breakers and roads where new tarcoal layers are poured on top of old ones to create almost a foot of height between road and the surroundings, it makes sense to have an SUV with big wheels and ground clearance. SUV also has more space.
