Interesting video and thanks for the history of centipede. Especially liked the part about Dona Bailey. Good on her for moving to game development at such a historical time for video games.
Centipede on the Atari 2600 was the first videogame I ever played, way back in 1986. It was a little awkward with the standard 2600 joystick controller but great fun, especially in 2-player mode. Thanks for the nostalgia trip. Subbed.
Oh maybe! I'm definitely going to keep doing mini histories on these mini arcade videos! And probably when I start doing unboxing and first (re)play videos of my childhood consoles! 😊😊😊
Everyone should get this one right trista hey trista your the best hard working woman in the world and keep up the good work ☺don't ever give up your the best
@@TristaBytes Ah that's a shame I think you covered the original mini system better than anyone else. I didn't get one either as I'd rather get one from Argos but out of stock (better warranty/easier to return if faulty than some web based browser sale)
@@madcommodore i have the mini & "maxi" id recommend just getting the mini or a raspberry pi / emulation setup you can add games off usb on either however the sticks included are ROUGH haha sega saturn retrobit controller luckily works fine however definitely pick one up💖
@@jonniefast I had a C64 from 1983 to 1990 and I never played games with a gamepad so I don't really like them on 8bit computer games :) The mini is not really my thing, the fullsize is OK but the joysticks wouldn't last 1 day playing Decathlon or Summer Games lol and I found quite a few full tape images that don't work properly (the reason I bought it for my LCD and Plasma TVs where composite video from real hardware looks a bit rubbish on them anyway)
I found the mini-trackball to work pretty well. Certainly was able to consistently keep up with my best Centipede scores (even if I'm no threat to whoever's got the top on the Twin Galaxies scoreboard), so yeah, it totally gets a thumbs up from me. As for the rest? I'm not really that excited by Street Fighter to be honest, and don't expect I'll go for Dragon's Lair either, but I know I'm so there for Asteroids (well, it's gotta join this and Tempest).
Yeah the trackball felt accurate to me. Definitely easy to use. I was surprised to be honest as that's no easy feat. I'm looking forward to Street Fighter - it's one of the only actual arcade memories I have!
Didn’t know about Centipede 2000 for the Jaguar...that looked interesting and I definitely would have bought it had Atari fully developed it...no matter what type of game it would have been. I wanted(and got to an ok extent) Atari to concentrate on arcade games for the Jaguar...ports + updates...but they should have done this with more of the late 80s & early 90s games as well. I wanted updates of Vindicators, Xybots, Hard Drivin’/Race Drivin’(Club Drive SHOULD have been this), Roadblasters and S.T.U.N. Runner to name a few...hoping the VCS-II will do this for these AWESOME Atari arcade games. I bought my Atari Lynx in 1991 so I could play Xybots...that was the main reason for me buying a Lynx.
Imma coming from the future. Can you do a review of their new game 1943? And maybe comment on the typo on the CPO (control panel overlay) and how that got by quality control?!
I'll give them credit for trying to be original with some of the sequels, not that I can say they had any quality since I haven't played them. Aside from that, I've been seeing these and bigger ones at stores for a month or two now, and have been wondering if they are any good since we can't play any demo ones.
@@TristaBytes I think the bigger one might have been a Pac-Man it's been a while since I saw it. Other wise the other Arcades I've been seeing are about the size of this Centipede one, and I think they have a couple of other games.
Really do look so good, guess they are too niche to end up with a European distributor. SFII is another challenging game to get the controls right for, they haven't picked any easy games so far in that regard!
For the Street Fighter one they've gone for Championship Edition & player 2 uses a separate controller. Which looks like a clever workaround. I'm really looking forward to testing it out - see how it holds up to an enthusiastic battle...
@@TristaBytes I think that's a good compromise considering the control panel area they are working with, look forward to a review if you get your fighting hands on one :)
I thought I had it for my Speccy in the 80s but looking back it may have been a knock off version. I seem to remember it being a Sinclair branded cassette like Oh mummy and treasure island...
The smooth rotation on the lazy Susan stool - All kinds of awesome :)

Yeah they are Very well made. The tiny trackball seemed pretty accurate too! That's impressive.
I'm here from the Top Hat Gaming Man. I love your channel! You have great content.
Thank you! Much appreciated 😊😊😊
Got to love these mini arcades. Really nice and in depth review :) good job!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video. More to come! Including that mini arcade belonging to you I've still got lol 🤣🤣🤣

Love the mini arcade games. I was a little too amused when you named the computers and called it a V.I.C. 20. Cannot wait for the Dragons Lair one!
My reading skills are top notch! Lol. Thank you for watching 😃
Great, informative video :D I didn't realise there was a Centipede on Dreamcast, might have to seek it out. The cabinet looks so smol and cute :3

I hope this does not come across badly I mean it nice lol. Your style would go well with one of the 90s tv game shows we used to get in the UK.

I'm quite curious about how you remove that trackball to clean the rollers. Hopefully it's easily done because they gunk up fast.
