    Mr. Formosa, would y'all consider also doing the left handed oil test for the more "conventional" tools as well? For example, I see you compared the push down cheese slicer to using a sharp knife, but not everyone can use a sharp knife because of different dexterity issues. That would really help if you could include them from time to time, if you can tell that a new product that you're testing was designed to make certain things easier for only a specific group of people.

    One interesting thing that would be great to review in these videos, at least for some of the gadgets, is the cleanup factor. We own a similar item to the rotary cheese grater, and while it does a GREAT job grating a lot of cheese in very little time and effort, it's such a pain to clean the cheese bits in all the nooks and crannies of the mechanism, that I often just default to my box grater.

  • @neilpickup237
    @neilpickup237 3 года назад +2

    I have the rotary grater and it is absolutely fantastic. One thing that the review didn't give the prominence it deserved is how much better it does the job. Whenever I used a box grater, the cheese has a tendency to stick together, something which has never happened with the rotary one. This makes sprinkling it over dishes, or piling on bread/toast so much easier.
    There are many versions of what looks an identical product, many claiming it is for veg too (made quick work of carrots - provided you put several in at a time to fill the tube) - for some reason, some suppliers say that you shouldn't grate onions in it - no idea if that is because of the onions structure, or that the onion smells and flavours are too readily absorbed. Although if it did work and you grated enough onions, a second dedicated model could be justified at the price.

      These types of graters have been around for at least 40 years and while they weren't as amazing at first, they are insultingly easy to clean today. You can often change the blade type so you can grate parmesan, mozzarella or even make thin slices of cucumber or tomato.

    My Mother has that rotatory cheese grater. She uses it as an vegetable grater too, and there is a minor issue, the blades on the actual grater are pretty dull, no issue with cheese but with veggies its takes a lot of force to grate them. Those laser cut graters are very sharp, the combination of booth products would be so nice.

    We had a rotary cheese grater you had to clamp to the table for like 20 years, and we have a suction one for the past 10, weirdly it has a lever and a bigger suction, your surface has to be as smooth as possible, so if your countertop has ridges as a few wooden ones have it's actually quite useless. The advantage over the clamp is of course the ease of putting it up.

    @14:24 this is about the same device the dutch are using for years.... minus the adjustments and the grater... those cheese cutters have the better lip to rest the cheese on like you suggested... some even have a shorter blade (the part where the grating bit is on) on the end to cut younger cheese so it would not stick to the blade when it cuts.. this is another issue you might have with cutting with the adjustable grater slicer.

  • @rosechrisman8517
    @rosechrisman8517 2 года назад

    I don’t know if she still has it but my mother used to have a cutting board specifically for cheese that had an attached blade that went up and down across the board. So you would push the cheese along the board as you cut. I loved slicing cheese as a kid because of that thing, and I remember being so happy when my mother let me use it for the first time once I was old enough 😋

    They cheated with the cheese gun, they didn't include the time in the micro to heat the cheese. I think that was designed more for kids so the heating element isn't very hot. I don't see that appealing much to adults.
