      There are a couple of companies making special padded shorts for motorcycling, one being Moto Skiveez. Reports are these are very good.

    Ok update. I finally managed to get Norton to phone me. Smashing lad called John who deals with customer complaints etc and mediates between Norton and the customer. He has said
    Norton will honour their original email they sent to me allowing me to service my bike. They also gave me the head bolt torque I need for the first service. Now most folk told me to use the Donnington manual as they have the same engine as the Solihull bikes. While that's true to a certain degree, the materials in the Solihull engine were changed along with a lot of the torque settings. So be warned everyone. I was told to tighten my head bolts at 600 miles to 60 NM. The Solihull engine is actually 48NM. Iv also explained that there are a lot of owners with bikes (some still in warranty)that will be servicing their own bikes. Surley it's only fair we can access the correct manuals etc. He took that on board and is going to channel it to the correct people. Maybe it will work and we Solihull owners will get a manual for our bikes

      @@NortonUnofficial of course. Apparently on the Solihull bikes you only torque the outside head bolts on the service and not the ones under the rocker cover.

      @@NortonUnofficial Well, I think I cannot be called a rider in the common notion of the term. I am very much fascinated by the design aspect of the two-wheelers. For a long time in my life I abstained from riding any motorized two-wheeler due to some spinal problem. I am 47 and for the past two years, a happy owner of a scooter ( a 110cc Honda Activa, a very comfortable and trusty model, a very popular and ubiquitous thing here in my country ) which makes me happy on a daily basis whenever I ride it. I have done only short rides on it, though dream of riding it on a long trip sometime. Greetings, from Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), India.

    You are a braver man than me...
    I bought a 961 at the end of May. I've ridden it 3 times since, no more than 20 miles each trip and each time its had to go back to the dealer to be fixed. The first two times the engine was stalling when down changing while approaching a junction. Very dangerous this. Got it back last Monday and got the first chance to ride on Friday. Did 15 miles and stopped for a coffee, restarted it to travel 5 miles home and the orange engine warning light came on and the engine wouldn't rev less than 2000rpm. It will be going back to the dealer for good as I have completely lost confidence in it as well as most of the summers riding weather. Shame as the bike looks good and generates a lot of attention, however the mechanicals just don't live up to the looks...

      Oh no that's awful. Such a shame. When I visited the factory they said quality was their main focus. And they had apparently made hundreds of engineering improvements to the 961. Such a shame this is still happening. Glad you managed to ride it without getting hurt, and I don't blame you for returning it, I would do the same! Sad hing is that bike might now be sold as a used bike and the next owner could well have the same problems. Ride safe, I hope your next bike is a lot more reliable.

    More info on fender extender please. I have a tvs 961 had it for over a year now the factory will not honour warranty on parts if you have removed them from the bike yourself even if they know they break (Broken seat/rear hugger/chain guard}.

      @NortonUnofficial  18 дней назад

      Hi thanks for the info about warranty claims, I hadn't heard that before. Did you have any problems with Norton yourself on warranty claims?
      I got the fender extender from this website. But please note it doesn’t fit all front mudguards. I was lucky it fitted mine but some owners said it didn’t fit theirs. I have only stuck it on with sticky pads but I pan to put some plastic rivets just to be sure it doesn't fall off lol. Mind you it was only a fiver plus postage:
