On the piano no one can even get close to Argerich's version but I'd never heard this sonata on the harpsichord and I quite enjoyed it! It has a different feel to it. Thanks for the nice surprise :)
Yes the Argerich version is extraordinary and not surpassable in terms of what she brings to it. It is almost a different piece on harpsichord; glad you enjoyed it!
There he is, the famous K. 141! And this performance is perfect and brings new light to the piece by your use of rubato!
I don’t believe there is such a thing as ‘perfect’ when it comes to a performance, but it is exceedingly kind of you to say that, Luuk! Glad you find something new in the performance - I’m trying to achieve rhythmical without being metronomic, if that makes any sense.
@@davidlouie You are right, there is no perfect performance in the meaning of exactly performing what the composer intended with the piece. But your performance is perfect to me, because it satisfies me when I listen to it!
気品ある演奏思わず見入ってしまいました。素晴らしい。
Thank you very much
I know what my second favourite piece is! (K.209 is #1) K. 141 is real show stopper though. I also think that Scarlatti was a closet guitar player! Cheers
Beautiful !
Brilliant!
I think that's the most 'Italian sounding' of the sonatas I've listened to so far, even if I can't put my finger on what it is.
It has many Italianate features, particularly the pulsating ascending sequences. But also an Iberian influence, and perhaps an adoption of guitar-inspired ‘rasgueado’ on the harpsichord.
brilliant playing Ralph Kirkpatrick would be very pleased
Thanks that is high praise indeed
😍
By the way, how can you do repetitions with two fingers? 😂 For me it is imposible.
@@danielc.martin1574 If it's comfortable for you, then you can, but it looks like you can't, so I guess you have to go 321 or 432121.
Awesome performance! I noticed you're using the "old method" of using less thumb in the runs. I've been interested in looking into this practice. How'd you go about it? Are there rules similar to that of modern finger technique?
Thanks 🙏 and thanks for noticing the fingering. You’re absolutely right, it’s an old method of fingering. RH 3-2-3-2 on descending scales, and avoiding thumbs on the repeated notes. I don’t believe in “rules” either modern or archaic, when it comes to fingering. Just do what works best!
