- It's that time of year again when the days are shorter and many of us like to go mountain biking after dark. Here are some pointers on ensuring you are safe and have a more enjoyable night-riding experience.
Great video my friend ! 👍🏼
I do in fact use the 2500 on my helmet ; it’s phenomenal !
I use the NR remote control on my handlebar so I don’t have to reach up and fiddle with the button(s).
You convinced me to also purchase the 1800.
Cheers 👍🏼
I WAS that guy...! Until I went on my first "real" night ride in pitch black through a redwood forest. I am now looking to buy some REAL lights for my mountain bike/helmet. Your timing on this video is perfect..! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. "You get what you pay for" is always a truth.
Night riding trails would be fun with a proper setup!
I’m a huge fan of Nite Rider and have the combo of the bar and helmet lights. My friend has the Outbound lights, also really nice. Btw the Nite Rider people are awesome. Respond to any questions and back up their products. I crashed and chipped off my button on the top of my old 750 lumen Minewt. They sent a new button as soon as I contacted them.
Thanks for sharing!
I run the 1800 Niterider on my helmet and the single 900 on the bar. The reason for two lights also.....is that together they cast the shadows on the ground for roots and rocks. You need those shadows to navigate. Agree - medium setting. Never have I ran boost mode. Hopefully people have a helmet that allows mounting.
I’m a huge fan of Nite Rider and have the combo of the bar and helmet lights. My friend has the Outbound lights, also really nice. Btw the Nite Rider people are awesome. I shorted my lights and the trouble shooter on a call and also just said if I had any problems just send it in for replacement.
Carry an extra flashlight
I’m a big fan of the Outbound lights. They weren’t cheap but I figure buy once cry once.
I use the NR Lumina Max 2500 on the bars, usually on Medium or High, and on boost in the heavy rain.
Cygolite Expelion 850 on the helmet.
@niterider
I like to carry a "spare" light just in case of an accident and the light is broken or it simply craps out in my ride. Even if the spare is a cheapy, it is better than nothing.
Excellent suggestion!!!
I disagree about the "buy a name brand light." I received one of these as a gift a few years ago. Within 6 months it wouldn't hold a charge. I bought a cheap light on Amazon and have been using it every since. Its bright. Has flash mode for commuting in low light. It's small and light. AND the battery still holds a charge.
Did you reach out to the manufacturer about the issue. Legitimate brands will warranty an issue like that. I had a Nite Rider light go bad after almost 2 years and they sent me a brand new replacement for free.
I don't recommend Iezyne lights. good marketing, bad lights even worse warranty service.
