Combining Two Knots To Make A New Knot

- I took the characteristics of two of my favorite hitch knots, the Backhand Hitch and the Spar Hitch, and combined them. Essentially this makes the Backhand Hitch more secure. Though I have yet to see this not used, I assume that someone has come up with it before. I am going to call this one the Slipped Backhand Hitch.
Very helpful. Saves me from tying (and later untying) loop at the end of my rope.
Really enjoy the idea of this knot and it seems to hold well on round surfaces like the tube you've demonstrated it on.
On larger diameter or square objects it doesn't hold though. That probably comes down to the way it captures tension using the object's surface.
It's a weakness it shares with many similar hitches like the clove and constrictor hitches.
The advantage of tying off a hitch to itself is that the object you hitch to doesn't matter anymore. I'd rather go with a overhand tie off like you do with a Munter if a couple of half hitches aren't secure enough.
Still, great concept. Love your channel.
Love this one
Very cool, you could use a super munter hitch with the same slip as your finish knot...
I have been using something similar - but with an extra roundturn on the right handside, so you start with a backhand hitch and you end like a snuggle hitch.
Thanks god bless
The sign would say "Standing Mexican wave"
Is that racist...
But I'd probably be the only doing it as far as the eyes can see.
I was right I am.
