1997 was the year of Radiohead & Verve who scored big with Bittersweet Symphony but had the royalties stolen by Stones publishers. When Mick & Keith gained control of publishing they rescinded the rights back to Verve. A nice gesture by them. I don't recall these guys. Good song.
I'd never heard the song or of the band. Liked it. '97 isn't a year that I recall easily as to what I was listening to. I didn't know what was being played on radio. Out here there isn't radio. I have records from that time, but what they are I wouldn't know without looking them up.
Black Lab was a Geffen label band. I also never heard of them but had previously scrolled through this '97 sampler CD and marked the song as a possible addition here. He's got a good voice and the band is solid.
@AnnieVanAuken For an exercise I looked up '97 to see what I have from the year. Future Bible Heroes, Chug, Spiritualized, Yo La Tengo, Mountain Goats, Period Pains, Bettie Serveert and others. I think I got most of my info through zines.
@@mistery-ed7900 I've a lot of CDs from that era. This one seems very punk, with bands like Snot, Misfits, Veruca Salt, the Seahorses (yah!) Melony, Powerman 5000 and Days of the New.
Ed -1997 was the year of Brit Pop - 🇬🇧 ..Radiohead , Blur , Suede, Verve & Oasis & Labour 🌹 scored a landslide over the Tories with Tony Blair winning & Noel Gallagher from Oasis & Brian May from Queen at the victory party. Newt Gingrich & Bill Clinton had many compromises & the economy here was excellent. Both Newt & Bill had extramarital issues that ultimately slowed down both.
@@davidellis5141 An unrelated comment: Black Lab drummer Michael Urbano also was in my favorite circa 2000 band, Smash Mouth. (Love, "Walking on the Sun".)
