ABOUT THE PIECE:
The Lute Suite in E Minor is J.S. Bach’s earliest of the lute suites. Though this is still a matter of debate, it’s highly likely that it was originally composed for the Lautenwerk (lute-harpsichord), a gut-strung keyboard designed to imitate the timbre of the lute. The form of the piece is based on that of the traditional Froberger keyboard suite model: Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Gigue. Bach added two additional movements to the form: a Prelude consisting of a slow section imitating a French overture form and a fast fugal section, and a Bourrée which is one of the most well-known movement among all his works for the lute.

The sound of this particular marimba in this particular space is ungodly. Such a warm sound with plenty of resonance... ughh so good!

Loved the ornaments in the allemande. The courante was great, it is, by far, the less idiomatic movement of the suite when playing on marimba.

I wonder what Bach would think of his music being played on a marimba today considering it was not very popular in his time
I did an entire paper on this once. I believe he would have written a lot of his solo works for marimba if he had known of its existence. They lay so well on the instrument.
