Rabbi, you are an inspiration...thank you for your compassionate and clear leadership and guidance! Dr Cronje, thank you for your amazing insights, clarity of thoughts and ideas...What an honor to listen to this discussion! Thank you both!
Dr Warren thank you kindly for the insight ,I'm flabbergasted by Dr Cronje,s knowledge and wisdom on South Africas,s problems I must say that there is still hope for all in this beautiful country where all races can and will live in safety and prosperity.
He has good instincs and principles yes. There is of course also some uncomfortable blind spots and one particular problematic character flaw that is playing out .
Great video- 11:50 onwards "a comfortable 8/10 south africans are with each other and respect each other accross race, class, history...we are not a radicalised populace". Great to hear.
It’s mostly true. I think about 89% of all South Africans want the same things, a job so they can support their families (thanks guys because you do most of the supporting family weightlifting, and don’t whine and moan about it). We all have the same slightly daft sense of humour and are not hostile towards each other. Our support for sport is stupid. Except for Cricket, that’s a different story altogether, I’m working on inventing a cricket bat that attracts the cricket ball and then forcefully blasts it out of the field for 6. The other countries’ cricket teams will never take another wicket and trying to catch the ball in flight will result in 4 broken fingers and a swollen thumb.
Very good insight and discussion from both well educated and remarkable gentlemen. Always enjoy listening to Frans and Rabbi Goldstein as both are men of integrity. Kind regards from Mossel Bay and we stand with Israel because ELOHIM gave that country to Abraham, Isaac and Israel and nothing has ever changed!!!!
Speak for yourself, because the majority of South Africans, support the palistinians. This hateful so called rabbi, is trying, to deflect, by having this interview, because he, was being criticized for the callousness he has displayed to the genocide, being committed by Israel. Long live palistine
I like sourh Africa is very encouraging to hear a white man talk a balanced assessment of thr situation in that country using purely spastics:giving praise where needed and reprof where needed. I think part of the government’s initial success was that the sanctions against South Africa were lifted. The majority of South Africans (of all races) were happy and hoping that life would get better for all. Businesses from other countries were investing in South Africa. Sadly, over the years, all that initial optimism got a bit frayed at the edges. I really hope that this time we get a government that does it’s best for all South Africans. Why can’t we have a party that has a Black, Coloured, Indian and a White person sharing the leadership? So only policies that are fair to all get put in place. (Except there should be 1 old lady who gets the final say in everything. Colour not important, just old and crotchety.)
This Rabbi is a man of integrity and always relevant.. Where is the Church at this time???Silent!!!!!The Church should be speaking out yet it is quiet!!! Shocking . `Thank you so much Rabbi Goldstein and Dr Cronje

Awesome conversations between two very dynamic gentleman from different back grounds in RSA, but have the same passion for a better RSA for all. South Africa will be doomed the day our Jewish friends leave the country.
Dr Frans Cronje is obviously an incredibly intelligent man but sometimes I wonder if he is too optimistic. Zimbabwe went through a similar process, In the 90s when they were doing well support for Zanu PF was strong. As support for Zanu PF fell off they began to bring in extremist policies (think NHI, expropriation bills) that ultimately led to the downfall of Zimbabwe. Zimabwe's democratic system worked well until it didn't. Remember absolute power corrupts absolutely. I can't help but think that ANC leaders who have been on the gravy train for too long have too much to lose.
Standing always with Israel. Professor John C Mubangizi, Dean: Faculty of Law, University of the Free State South Africans are sick and tired of corruption. They are angry, frustrated and despondent. And they have every reason to be. South Africa has many problems: crime, unemployment, poverty, gender-based violence, inequality, low economic growth and now - in common with many other countries - COVID-19. The list goes on and on. What makes corruption the biggest threat among all these is that it cuts across all of them and impacts on their gravity in different ways.
Chief Rabbi, thank you for a great show, and your well respected Host Dr Frans Cronje, I learn so much today, hope to see more podcast of this nature, but I must add, according to what I see about the political leaders, the only politician who openly and boldly support Israel and the Jewish state is Gayton McKenzie

I started watching this interview yesterday, from now on it's prophet Frans Cronje, "Frans jy was amper 100% spot on!!!" Well done! The mind boggles that those who are following Zuma's tit for tat stance, do not see the wood for the trees. He is 82 & cannot live forever. What will his tribe do when he is finally gone?
At its peak under mbeki the ANC was at 67% odd. Right now the ANC + EFF + MK is about the same. So nothing much has changed in the minds of voters in terms of what works and what doesn't.
Maybe liberal non black south africans voted for ANC because they were happy with results. The theme of this discussion is that south african voters initially voted for ANC first because they were doing very well.
Absolutely brilliant conversation. Jeepers this interview covered it all. The challenge today is we want quick, but I am so glad I listened to this. Thank you ❤
53:54 as private supply takes over from state supply, we should also start paying less tax. A government can't renege on service delivery and still expect citizens to continue paying tax.
This brother here, Dr. Frans Conje, is whispering the sweetest words I’ve, perhaps, ever heard out of Africa. It is, indeed, a MORAL imperative to maintain and increase coal, and other perhaps dirty, energy sources for the sake of the poor. Let an energy surplus lead to a change over. Woe to the West for not understanding this.
we should stand for our OWN country FIRST (not governments). Isreal and its issues carry too much weight here and off course Israel should be supported, but our own issues is more pressing and deserve priority
Lovely watching this insightful discussion. It will give many people hope. Mr Cronje would you please dwell deeper into your Prophecy about Ramaphosa not being a reformer for many reasons. Even if has to be on other platforms like Biznews and State of the nation. That would really be one insightful and interesting eye opening discussion for the people of this country🖖

And if you add their possible percentages support, it still adds up to close to 68%, the highest support for ANC in 2004. So has anything actually changed?
All this ignores the effect that until now, the ANC did not have to worry about being elected. We are going to see what the party in power now does in order to stay in power when they decline in popular support
Thank you for the insight. Just a point on the community inputs at min 57. Post 94 responsibility was placed on the government to provide. However on a community level the responsibility of self-improvement and maintenance, should and ultimately is the responsibility of that community. The mindset change required for that shift in responsibility, needs to be top down and will be incredibly painfull for those communities. Considering the broadly held notion that government is the primary provider.
I find it easy to listen to Frans's interesting, well thought out talks...a necessary short cut to relevant summary information for one's own further thinking
Interesting comment about our unemployment rate. It ignores the "informal" sector which apparently contributes R140 billion to the economy. According to GG Alcock the rate is closer to 10% if this sector is included.
What a pleasure to listen to a highly nuanced and intelligent conversation by two highly educated and experienced South Africans.
