Jon you may have just sold me on one of these. I've often wondered how it was. A set of Timber tires would fix er right up. I like that it comes with floats...I'd love to see you fly it off a lake. I have been flying a buddies Timber EVO on floats and now I want a float plane. Good price too. Looks a little like a Cessna 185. I like that it has struts...looks more "authentic". Nice review...well done. Also...one thing. Just an observation and my personal opinion. Not gospel, just something to think about. It's not necessary for you to keep saying how honest you are and how much integrity you have. Your passion for the hobby, objectivity, personal style, and honesty about it all are obvious. I know why you do it. There are those that (stupidly I might add) automatically assume anyone that gets airplanes for free will lie to keep the stream of free stuff coming in. Its like automatically lumping people in a specific group because of who they vote for, with no consideration for the endless number of possible caveats and differences that make an individual who they are. It's just a narrow minded way to see people. Jon anyone that watches your content or mine...I mean REALLY watches, and listens to the words we are saying...will know how we roll. The people that assume, and don't listen enough to pick up on the obvious objectivity, passion, and honesty...well that is their problem, and it doesn't really matter what you tell them. Their narrow mind is made up before the first word is spoken anyway. Like you...I sometimes almost feel bad if I really like a plane. It's as if I feel like I HAVE to find a negative...and its because of the people I spoke of we think that. Well I'm done worrying about that. We all know there are "cheerleader channels", and those are painfully obvious as well. We aren't that...and our loyal subscribers that pay attention all know that. Jon integrity shows in the way a man carries himself. Its never proven with words...only actions. I'll never say how honest I am on my channel. I don't have to. Its obvious to anyone that actually pays attention and has watched more than 3 videos of mine. You are a good man Jon, and it shows. You owe the narrow minded RC Karens nothing. Have the confidence to just be you, and know this brother...that is more than enough.
Thanks so much for the kind words Adam. We'll probably lay off saying "this is our honest feedback" in the future because we'd like to think that the enthusiasm comes through from how we fly these models, not because they were sent to us. This wasn't even on our radar until FMS asked us to review it. We realized quickly that it's a gem of a model - like a Timber but weighs less and is almost as aerobatic. We'll be reviewing it on floats for its final review, and will probably keep making content with it as long as it survives the goofy antics we're up to. Unfortunately, Timber wheels don't fit - you'd have to drill them to make them fit.
I put the spongy Durafly Tundra tires on my Kingfisher. I think the inflatable tires XFly has on a couple of their planes like the Tasman would be great on several planes if they were ever in stock. They look lighter than Dubro.
YOU will love it Adam! This kingfisher WILL DO some crazy stuff in the air! Unfortunately, flaps go only down. PLUS, it will tow a 2 1/2 meter glider out of site!
As someone that's been flying RC for about 30 years now, I'll say I absolutely love the channel, and love all the fantastic new products over the last couple of years. Foam, whether it's EPS or EPO etc has come such a long way, much like batteries and power systems. 30 years ago electric was primative and underpowered. Was 99% nitro powered when I started. Even ducted fans..remember the big .90's with the massive tuned pipes? I discovered bush planes a few years ago with the Durafly Tundra and absolutely love the thing. Such a slow gentle flyer but will perform nearly every trick in the book out of the box. The FMS Kingfisher looks like another step up with the wing design but absolutely needs better gear and softer tires.. The one thing I upgraded on the Tundra...big squishy tires...Makes all the difference.
Have a kingfisher myself and they take a beating and keep on ticking! Great first bird and very tame flier! I put some squishy tires on mine and helps a lot.
I loved this plane while I had it. I lost signal and into the oaks she went. It was a blast on snow skis. The landing gear with skis attached retrofit nicely on my arrows Bigfoot.
One more reason to love this plane is the threaded inserts on the bottom for the floats. They're perfect for any payload you want to attach. I've 3d printed a bunch of stuff like a candy drop, a glider tow release, a head tracking FPV system, and even a fake smoke system. The manual says it's a 3S plane, but I run mine on 4S with the stock ESC, and I've had no issues. And yeah, pretty much every pavement landing skids exactly like yours. :)
Over the 50 year span of me flying RC if I had a dime for every plane that said, "Sporty enough for maneuvers yet docile enough to be a trainer" I'd be rich!!! Well... hell might have froze over here I was very impressed with your review which sure seemed to show that the design honestly does both. Most trainers suck at inverted flight and as such you cannot practice some more advanced flying without risking a crash. I'm sure some of the footage here is a testament to your very good flying skills [ bravo my friend!! ] none the less if ever you wanted a plane that you could practice some advanced techniques yet have a very slow flying and very predictable plane to bail you out of a less than ideal situation this might be one of the best I've ever seen.
After learning the basics on a very forgiving little ZT Cub, I purchased a Kingfisher and this has pretty much taught me to fly. It's forgiving, straightforward to fly, not too big and those wheels mean I can fly from grass in my local park. I've smashed it a few times and it was easy to repair. The only poor design aspect are where the wing struts join the body - the mount is plastic, easily broken in a hard smash and the part cannot be replaced. With a bit of creativity you can repair it though. 10mins flying time per 3S pack. 3 years later it's now teaching me aerobatics. Can only speak from personal experience, but it's been a great little aircraft for me and I've enjoyed many happy hours flying it. Great to see it's available.
Good to hear! We enjoy it more as a bush plane that can do 3D aerobatics, but that's what's nice about it - the model is capable of a lot more than it seems.
@@TwoBrosRC If you're in contact with FMS - mention those plastic connection points for the struts - I've seen a few mentions of this being a real weak point on the Kingfisher. They really should be separate removable parts that can be replaced - or made of metal.
@@clipperrail8988 Ours failed pulling like 10 Gs but it was a simple fix, just hooked it back up and glued it with a bunch of CA after roughing up the two surfaces with sandpaper to give it more surface area.
@@TwoBrosRC Well that's one impressive way to break the mount! I broke mine in the more shameful tried-and-tested fashion of crashing the aircraft. I went for a metal fix - drilled a hole and used a screw-in curtain eye of a similar diameter. It seems pretty secure, but hasn't been exposed to 10g yet. I'll keep working on those aerobatics.

Light seems to be an advantage when there's no wind. I live three hours east of you on the coast of NC where "no wind" isn't really a thing. How advanced of a pilot do you have to be to be able to appreciate the differences you observe? Would a TTE be more stable and easier to fly for a not-so-advanced flyer?
Fly a Timber and fly a Kingfisher. You'll notice immediately how floaty the Kingfisher is in comparison because it's lightly loaded whereas the Timber is not, and flies a bit more sluggishly as a result.
Great review just curious what you’d recommend as a bush plane between this and the pa-18 1300mm. I’m a intermediate pilot but looking for the closest thing to a fun cub due to lack of stock cheers
12x6 or 13x5 would be good choices, but you'd probably want to upgrade the motor too. That would require some research. It's already quite powerful in stock form though.
This looks like a fun plane, though I'm probably going to be flying my TTE for a long time. Curious though just how hard you have to push your plane for metal gear servos to be important. You mention it a lot but so far at least with the TTE and Ultrix, and my trainer Carbon Cub I haven't had any problems, though I'm mostly just working on getting 4-point rolls and smoother landings down.
Which do you prefer, the Kingfisher 1400 or the FMS Super Cub (smaller version) ? Any concerns over the strut attachment points on the Kingfisher? I’ve read on RC Groups about the plastic strut attachment points breaking. Thanks!
The Super Cub is more enjoyable, but not by much. The only time we broke a strut on the Kingfisher was because we made the airframe over-G by doing tight horizontal loops at full throttle. The strut was easy to fix - we just sandpapered the inside of the sleeve and the part that slots into it to give it more surface area, then hit it with Gorilla Glue. It's stronger than it was stock now.
I'm definitely gonna have to fix mine now I kinda wanna try that flat spin maneuver lol it is definitely a lot of fun to fly I might try to up my throws this time
@@TwoBrosRC alright thanks as soon as I get home I'm getting my parts on order lol I've always to tow either a glider or a banner behind it as I know there's a hook on there have you tried anything like that?
@@TwoBrosRC alright another thing is I've heard a lot of people replace the tires for something with more give like the durfly tundra tires to make it easier to taxi on grass cause the tires a pretty stiff
@TwoBrosRC I flew on full rates and almost crashed from what I assume was too much elevator. I was banking and then sudden and violent wing rock occurred. I'm assuming I just gave it too much elevator and it acted like a brake?
I've been look for a smaller jet like a 70mm that's pretty agile with pretty tough gear because i fly of very bumpy matt or grass . Wondering what you would recommend, I was look at the freewing 70mm f35..
Not only no, but *hell no* on the 70mm F-35. It won't survive grass. While it'll be agile, it'll get messed up flying off grass. For a 70mm jet that's grass-capable, you might want to look into the Viper 70mm if there's still any around you that you can pick up.
hi, thanks for all videos, i really like watch all. I have a question about FMS Kingfisher, can i use 4S 3300mah on these plane this stock motor and ESC? if not, what do you recommend for esc or motor? Thanks again for show to us about these planes. keep doing please!
On the website it does not show it having flaps, it also only shows 3s and 4 channel. You changed the speed controller. How did you add the flaps or was yours a newer version?
What website are you looking at? The link in our description goes to FMSHobby.com (bit.ly/FMSKingfisher) which says "FMS 1400mm Kingfisher PNP w/Reflex V2, Wheels, Floats, Skis, *Flaps*". It does recommend a 3s pack, but the motor can take 4s as it's the same motor that the E-flite RV-7 uses - FMS makes that model, too. We actually used the RV-7's ESC in our Kingfisher to give it more pep and run 4s without worry.
I got this plane and I'm using the recommended 11.1v 3s 100c 5000 mAh battery. The problem is the center wire on the battery plug prevents in from plugging in more than about 1/16th off an in. Is there an adapter or am I missing something?. I've looked HH website and didn't find one. I also contacted their product support team but never heard back. Any suggestions?
It's totally set up for crow already - but we forgot to use it because it was just so much fun to fly that it never even crossed our minds. We'll show that off on the float flying vid with it in the final review!

Jon i wanna buy either Kingfisher or Maule(i have PA18). How would you compare them in short and which one would you pick. Water operations are not important to me. One that flies/lands slower is one i would prefere.Thank you very much!
The Maule is a more stable aircraft and has more acro potential than Kingfisher does, along with being easy to fly slower on a 3 cell pack. Check out our vid on it: ruclips.net/video/dYIeZ1cnNfk/видео.html
@@TwoBrosRC thanks for reply. I still cant decide between Timber Evo, Kingfisher or Maule. Which one by your oppinion has toughest landing gear? On PA18 landing gear is like a tank.😁
@@TwoBrosRC I have been looking at numerous videos trying to decide on Maule vs Kingfisher vs Super Cub 1.3 or 1.7 and given they are priced so similar, the Maule's clear windows, attractive to me teal paint scheme vs cartoon livery of the Kingfisher and the 4S capability and wide wheel stance make the Maule the choice for me. I think the battery compartment is better and easier to fit my fat digits into as well.
Great review ( I am new subscriber from TX) . I am a beginner I really want to fly on of this but I feel that I need a plane a bit smaller (excluding the UMx timber). Do you have any recommendations?
You'd find it easier to fly with something larger like this because smaller wingspan models (sub 1m wingspan) tend to be twitchty and jittery in the sky.

I’m a intermediate pilot but looking for the closest thing to a fun cub due to lack of stock cheers
Kingfisher is a pretty good choice. It's more durable than the Super Cub and replacement parts should be less expensive overall.
@@TwoBrosRC thought that’ll be the case, thank you for the speedy reply.
Love the channel all the way in Australia 🦘
Hey, great video! If I wanted to upgrade the propeller for this what size would you recommend?
12x6 or 13x5 would be good choices, but you'd probably want to upgrade the motor too. That would require some research. It's already quite powerful in stock form though.
@@TwoBrosRC thank you!
Put a model into a crazy snap roll at 11g and you'll find that most plastic servos can't handle the load without stripping.
@@TwoBrosRC Thanks, guess it's time to start figuring out that telemetry then and see how close I am to something like that.
I'm definitely gonna have to fix mine now I kinda wanna try that flat spin maneuver lol it is definitely a lot of fun to fly I might try to up my throws this time
We fly on 150% rates if that helps, with pushrods set to outermost servo arms and innermost control horns.
@@TwoBrosRC alright thanks as soon as I get home I'm getting my parts on order lol I've always to tow either a glider or a banner behind it as I know there's a hook on there have you tried anything like that?
@@AviationAngler Nah, that's not something we really do.
@@TwoBrosRC alright another thing is I've heard a lot of people replace the tires for something with more give like the durfly tundra tires to make it easier to taxi on grass cause the tires a pretty stiff
Were both of you flying on 150% rates? I just set mine up according to the manual, (roughly 16mm of travel).
Always.
Habu
id put the super soft big rubber pneumatic tires on it from the x-fly Tasman
hi, thanks for all videos, i really like watch all. I have a question about FMS Kingfisher, can i use 4S 3300mah on these plane this stock motor and ESC? if not, what do you recommend for esc or motor? Thanks again for show to us about these planes. keep doing please!
A 3300 pack probably won't fit into it. We'd recommend sticking to 2200.
@@TwoBrosRC thanks for help!
Looks like it flys like the Valiant
Seems similar.
Those struts are not load bearing right?
They do take loads, they just don't bend much.
Nice plane I want one just destroyed my turbo timberumx got a little cocky lol hit the wood pile
Nice 👍
I got this plane and I'm using the recommended 11.1v 3s 100c 5000 mAh battery. The problem is the center wire on the battery plug prevents in from plugging in more than about 1/16th off an in. Is there an adapter or am I missing something?. I've looked HH website and didn't find one. I also contacted their product support team but never heard back. Any suggestions?
Center wire?
A hair of crow would seriously do some cool stuff.
It's totally set up for crow already - but we forgot to use it because it was just so much fun to fly that it never even crossed our minds. We'll show that off on the float flying vid with it in the final review!
Are u flying with a stock ESC ...running 4S ?
Avian 45a flying 4s. Stock is a Predator 40a which can take 4s.
@@TwoBrosRC cool good to know have only flew mine on 3s ...and i like it but on 4s ill definatly like it more .good plane,u can fly anywhere u want .thanks for the quick response....love ur videos
The Timber has the better gear out of all three options.
@@TwoBrosRC then Timber it is. Thank you Jon!
Like you guys, what's with the picking on timbeŕ?
We don't recall picking on it.
What’s that twin motor plane hiding in the grass at 3:50?
Ciáran's custom painted EC-1500
Ah man I’m jealous. I really want one of those. Any recommendations on the most fun twin? I’ve been looking at the Beechcraft and tigercat but that ones backordered… as well as flight line makes a tiger cat and also a ov-10.
@@ronnymiller7395 The Beech D18 is pretty solid. Not as fun as the EC-1500 for us yet, but we'll keep pushing it. Check our review on it that dropped last week. If you like what you see, consider ordering it from the links in the description!
Hi can you do a video on ithe xfly Tasman?
We're trying to avoid buying models if at all possible, so unless XFly sends it to us you probably won't see it this year.
Some Bison wheels.
So which Bush plane is a 10/10 in your opinion?
None so far, but we suspect the Funcub would be the best just based on watching Zach & Ben fly it and the few minutes Jon was able to fly it with Z&B.
I wonder 💭🤷🏻♂️ how to glue Neodymium on Rc Jets bec I want to transport a few parts of my jets while driving to the Airfield / Airclub
CA glue will work.
Def looks better than a timber exo but idk bout the timber x
Ehhhh. The Timber X is even more wing loaded than the normal Timber. It's not a very good 3D plane.
You say "this isnt a Fun Cub" but do you even have a review of the Fun Cub? I looked through your videos and didn't see one. Maybe i missed it.
We've flown a Fun Cub before which is why we mentioned that. We do own one now and are in the process of filming it for an upcoming vid.
Wow already discontinued?!?!
The Kingfisher is sold out, not discontinued.
@@TwoBrosRC sold out on FMS and discontinued at horizon? I am looking for a sim system now haha at horizon thanks
Ive had 2 Timbers and everybody goes gaga over them but compared to my X-Fly Tasman 1.5mm i consider them a Turds by comparison and i bet this Kingfisher is a better plane as well..
We'd have to take a Tasman up to compare it. Timbers fill a very unique niche that few other airplanes can match in our experiences.
@@TwoBrosRC Yes i agree with you there on that....The X-FLY Tasman comes in at a very affordable price at $229 delivered via banana hobby! i think youd be impressed by the Plane Jon
How to buy a funcub
eBay is our best guess.

& money is a must!🤪
I thought this was a 3s plane ?
It can be flown on 4 cells.
Well ok.. I mean I get it.. but I'm almost convinced that ya might be able to gosel it up two flights of stairs then politely ask a Lady to open the door.then down the hall a minute landed to a stop at my room with a timber.. not going to complain about the p-39 either..
