In this video I go through the history of the numerous imposter Two-Faces that plauged the late Golden Age of Batman comics.

I find the idea of an impostor Two-Face if all thing especially unbelievable.
Two-Face doesn't even wear a mask and the left side of his face is completely normal and should be fairly recognizable. Especially to Batman and other people who new Harvey personally.
So the idea that someone can just put on make up and pretend to be the real deal seems too far fetched, even for comic books.
I guess they put on "Harvey Dent makeup" for the right side lmfao

They obviously should've figured out Wilkins Two-Face was an Imposter, his face was purple while the original TF's face was green.
The second two-face is a decent concept. Two-face’s thing is a split personality disorder so someone believing he was actually Two-Face is an interesting idea for a second Two-Face.

I was thinking the same thing! It would make sense for there to be documentaries of some of the big villains by then in Terry's time. I just think the creative team on the show (Timm, Dini, and co.) wouldn't have done it because they didn't just want the villains to be futuristic updates to the first Batman's rogues. I could see one of the later "Beyond" comic series doing it though, as they did Catwoman (Beyond), Hush (Beyond), Vigilante (Beyond), Batgirl (Beyond), and Robin (Beyond). Anyhow, still not a bad idea!
Maybe he has a holographic disguise to hide the scarred side. Or nanites as part of a microsurgery experiment gone wrong.
The idea of Two-Face at war with an imposter is an interesting one considering his entire scheme relies on the number 2. Four is ridiculous.
It would make sense to team up imposter Two Face with imposter Mad Hatter. - Also imagine if Film Freak committed a crime based on the Two Face film ( just to make things even more confusing).
I was expecting something like "And Sloan's story is rather straight forward...OF COURSE NOT! THIS IS A TWO-FACE CLONE! IT HAS TO BE AS CONVOLUTED AS POSSIBLE!!" by the end lol
Between the third two face story and Wilkins there was a first two face impostor. Well, not really; it was a retelling of the original Two Face story for a Sunday newspaper strip, but he was an actor called Harvey Apollo and the classic jury scene was all part of a movie; and then he goes on a Two themed crimes rampage all over again.
The original Two Face was never mentioned, so I believe this was in another continuity aside from Earth 2/1.

Ironically the 2nd imposter is the most intriguing and compelling to me. Expect the 4 Two-Faces to be out after three joker run ends.
And then at the end of one issue Dent and Sloan stand opposite each other like a high noon showdown, pull out their guns... and flip their coins simultaneously to see who will shoot first.
Kinda like the Green Goblin from Spiderman. No, really, there are many imposters who took up the mantle of Spidey's archfoe beside the Osborns.
Even hobgoblin was made to basically replace green goblin because marvel didn't want to use him for a while

I think the entire deal with all the imposter Two-Faces shows yet again that keeping one continuity between multiple writers over multiple decades simply does not really work.

Paul Sloane could work if they went the original version (the 2000s one is stupid) but removed the element of Harvey being temporarily cured because that happened again in the 2000s. And despite the theme, it'd be stupid if it happened twice.

This video, on top of talking about the people that stole Harvey Dent's identity, but also reminds us that Scarecrow is a scientist that let his desire to understand fear drive him insane. REMINDING us that overindulging in anything, even as something as pure as the desire to learn, can lead down the path of corruption.

Two Face having a double is actually an idea that makes sense. But it's more something that Two Face would do then some random guy trying to frame him.

I think I have an issue of Sloan. I never saw him as Two Face, but I remember a villian attacking one of the rouges while dressed and acting like another. I'm pretty sure that was him.

Learned a lot this video, Rogues; thanks! Personally, I really liked the first 2 imposter Two-Face stories. I think they work far better (at least conceptually) than I would expect a story about someone trying to take over the fairly-specific persona of Two-Face to go. The Sloane one works, as you say, because the premise is super plausible and about the only way you could replicate Harvey's unique story.
However, I would also go to bat for the Wilkins version, as it sort of reminds me of the Dr. Chapel character from the "Batman Beyond" episode "The Winning Edge." This is because, like Chapel, Wilkins has some direct relation to/insight on Harvey (as Chapel with Bane, being his doctor) and, thus, can coordinate his crimes as "Two-Face" with Harvey's lapses in memory. You know, now that I'm thinking about it, this also reminds me of how Harry is made to think he's the Goblin in "Spectacular" (if you all know, you know). Anyways, I feel, had Wilkins had some personal axe to grind with Harvey (think Nivens in "A Bullet for Bullock"), it could be made to work a tad better.
Mr. Rogues as much as I love you..... You did a REALLY poor job of explaining the plotline of Dead Reckoning. Paul Sloan (In this story adapting the name Charlatan) Wasn't hired to kill Batman, he was just trying to complete the villains original plan of using Harvey Dent as bait to kill Batman. It was a twist ending that was executed fairly well and the way you described made it sound ridiculous. I LOVE Dead Reckoning, I think it's a very underrated Batman story and I wish it got more attention. I even think it could make for a good animated film.

Honestly i like Paul Sloane, I like the idea that he’s an original villain too, charlatan is an idea thank work imo, I kind of wish he appeared more often though.
The 2nd Two-Face Imposter made his 2nd appearance in a 2 parter.

Here's my take on how to bring the Two Face imposter back into the modern day- using only his first two appearances and ignoring the Charlatan route:
After receiving reconstructive surgery and success as a theater actor Paul Sloane settles into a normal life in Seattle, but his family and the local businesses are being preyed upon by organized crime. Enraged that the police either have no leads or have been bought out, Paul wishes he could lash out at the, but as a famous theater actor he'd be far too recognized... then he sees a newspaper article about Two Face, who has escaped Gotham and gone into hiding. He remembers the power he felt from his time pretending to be Harvey Dent, and dons the makeup so he can fight back and tear the syndicate apart, guns blazing- with the intent of making them paranoid and drawing tons of media attention to their underground operations.
A lot of stuff could happen as a result. Maybe he loses himself in the persona and has to be taken down by Batman or his own wife. Maybe the police catch him and he has to keep up the facade through the trial process, lest the syndicate get revenge on his loved ones. Or Harvey Dent himself could appear for a final face-off, enraged that Sloane would dare use his traumatic transformation like a Halloween costume (and possibly inspire similar copycats).

Fun Fact: For whatever reason, the Silver Age version of the 2nd imposter Two-Face is spelled "Sloane," whereas the "New Earth" version was spelled "Sloan." So, I guess they're technically not the same person. (🤷♂️)

I think paul sloane should keep the purple scaring and his oranage and green suit. As that would make him look like a unique version of two face.
Two-Face was seen as a one-shot for the longest, but fans insisted. Considering they never cared how the Joker survived story to story, the continuity nonsense got even more confusing.

In Young Justice, they have Paul Sloane as a William Shatner-eque actor. I wonder if they’ll do something with him or not.

I feel like hollywood would only be brave enough to make movies on dead and reformed rouges. Because if you made a movie on an active rouge, they would most certainly try and take the movie set hostage or massacre the cast and crew. Imagine what the Joker would do if he heard they were making a movie about him.

seriously, beyond sloan's name and profesison what did that story have to do with EITHER of sloan's previous appearances. Hell, he doesn't even have a 'two faace', jsut one scarred corpse-like face. Why not jsut make him a completely different character if you're not even going to go far enough to retell the original story he was in?

I don't like this idea of a specific Imposter for a specific rogue... because batman has a shapechanger, a very good one at that, who ironically is also an actor, which is part of his established rogues gallery and which could and SHOULD be used way more often as an imposter rogue by all of the other rogues, as part of their schemes, imho. An that could do the same as part of his schemes too.
if I was an Crazy Evil Actor, trying to fool the greatest detective in the world would be quite of an challenge.
Don't get me wrong, I like the imposing physical threat that Clayface can put on the table. It's really cool and has some amazing choreographic potential... I just think they should capitalize in the "criminal actor" part way more. You know, Harley Quinn's show Clayface.... But unironically!
He could also take all these other imposter as rivals, in his own distorted mind... They are literally Stealing his act!!!

Talking about who is the real Two Face. Two face, in a one off story, could be conjoined twins. He would literally have two faces/heads. One head horribly disfigured, the other 'normal.' As they have one body, they could argue over where to go and what to do so flip a coin to decide. Scarred side for scarred head.. After committing some crimes, they could be arrested and charged. The normal looking twin acting as a witness against the disfigured twin. When the disfigured twin is found guilty, there could be ethical questions over the punishment - because if the disfigured twin is sent to prison or arkham then the innocent twin would have to go too. Therefore, both the guilty and the innocent would be punished. They decide to execute the disfigured twin by sawing off his head. The twist at the end could be that the disfigured executed twin is actually the innocent one; it is the normal looking twin who is the real monster and he is free. But, maybe, the executed twin is still alive in the back of the mind of the still living twin. He continually talks to his brother, tormenting his conscience..
