Math wise miner is the best perk in the game even beating out artisan 40%. Normally when breaking ore nodes you can get 1-4 ore from them, but with miner you get 2-5 ore. This is at worse a 25% increase but at best a 100% increase to ore gained. So on average miner is a 52% increase to the amount of ore you get from a node. Which is much higher than artisan and 2% more than blacksmith, that said it become useless after a point to most casuals players.

According to wiki (which might be incorrect because haboo knows the game better than wiki) you get 1-3 iron from iron node, so 2-4 with miner. You go from 2 on average to 3 on average, which is 50% more ore on average. I'm not sure if 1-3 ore are equally likely though and even if it's 1-4, as haboo said, it's still +40% ore.

For single player I generally agree, but there are other considerations when playing multiplayer since certain skills would be redundant if two players had them. For example, for farming in my games the first person to reach level 10 gets Artisan and the second usually goes Coop Master to raise them bunnies faster. No matter who ships the artisan goods, they get the 40% bonus.

Personally I always go Geologist because it can be great for earning money. Gems are already good and so the chance to get more can be good when you're low on cash. I already end up with tons of ore anyway and never enough coal so it often just ends up never needing to be a thing where I need ore. So geologist always ends up working better for me in the end and especially early game. It comes in handy when I need quick cash and have some good gems saved up and I have to save my bars for upgrades because my ADHD is too much of a butt to let me produce bars. I've honestly always liked Gatherer->Botanist
Guaranteed iridium quality means that, if you're using foraged food (like the magma caps in volcano mines, or crystal fruits, etc), you're getting the most recovery out of it, and said items take only 1 item slot, rather than 4, 1 for each quality.
And, of course, chance for double-harvest is just more stuff. More food, more forage, and if you're using pigs for truffles, it's also more oil.
Extra wood and hardwood from standard trees is.. fine. It just hasn't felt significant in the time I've used it or seen it used. Have wood falling out of my ears anyway, and hardwood isn't too bad to farm, with mahogany trees.

if you animation cancel your hammer swing, with 3 aquamarine and scout + desparado, plus a aquamarine ring (which you should honestly have anyways cause 10% chacne for 3x dmg is more then the 10% from a ruby ring) you actually do more dps alot of the time then the hammer slam exploit with 3 ruby, even with not great animation canceling. This is mostly because almost anything but slimes either die so quick it doesnt matter or fly back like serpents or ghosts when you slam, meaning the high single hit of crits is alot more important then acrobat cause you one shot things most of the time.
also using scout +desperado build frees up your enchantment to not have to take artful, so you can take whatever else youd like. plus you can still use the hammer slam exploit on slimes and stuff that are pinned in a corner already, and you wont need the cdr cause you wont really use it often.
This does kinda all go out the window if your using a macro to click faster then a human could during the hammer slam expoilt time frame, or if you dont have access to the forge yet tho.
    TL/DR: big number = dopamine

Dude really shittin on crab pots like that, with luremaster that's free sashimi every day, a really easy and well liked gift as well as easy energy, and from crab pots what you really want anyways is the trash! With recyclers you can get free wood, stone, COAL, refined quartz, (get it this way rather than taking up crystalarium space and coal) cloth, (no need need for animals or a loom), adn you can even get iron ore! its already super good in vanilla, but if you play with the automate mod it just becomes plain broken!

Acrobat even without artful is amazing if you use a hammer as your primary and dagger as a switch. They don't share a cooldown, so you can use your hammer to deal massive AOE (even without the exploit) to clear out trash and then use the dagger's spec on a crit build to take out survivors, and by the time the animation finishes your hammer is ready to do another special. If you mess up you can use your sword special to buy yourself some more time, which is what you have to do every time if you didn't go either acrobat or artful.

    1. you are only aloud to walk
    2. you need to find the most inefficient way possible to finish a bundle/ or to get items
    3. you cannot skip cutscenes
    4. you are not allowed to stalk up on money (if you need it for smth you need to spend it right away for that thing)
    5. you can´t use glitches or mods
    6. you have to talk to at least 3 villiagers a day
    7. you should marry someone of your choosing
    8. for seeds you shop at jojas bcs it costs more there

Scout + Desperado can be super powerful later in the game. With the right ring (or rings) and forging on a powerful weapon, you can have critical hits every 3 attacks or so that do 5x or more of the weapon's base damage. My Galaxy Sword with +8 crit chance, some combined rings, and some good luck (Rabbit's foot + ring bonus) is consistently killing enemies within 1 or 2 super-fast swings (crits do 500 damage) and my crit chance isn't quite maxed. Plus it doesn't rely on any weird exploits and gives more flexibility in weapon types.
Also, the Crab Pot level-10 professions are pretty handy in the mid-game. Using Luremaster and just harvesting 30 Crab Pots every day nets you a ton of "fish" to use for crafting Quality Fertilizer, which is WAY faster than catching them individually, and not having to use bait makes it take maybe a minute to harvest. That's probably about 140 fish a week. In year 1 it's especially valuable since you can't buy Quality Fertilizer anyway, but even later it's better to craft than buy. Assume that you're planting 500 seeds; that's 75k that you can save by crafting, which you could use to buy even more seeds. Way more savings than 50% more cash for selling fish by that point.

So, I have to disagree with Seanie that none of the options on Trapper are worthwhile. Mariner, where crab pots do not produce junk items, is very useful if you want to gain fishing levels through crab pots / are looking for items for cooking. The guarantee that you won't get trash in your crab pots is very helpful any time I tackle SDV. When I was doing multiplayer with a friend, I had Mariner as my perk, and if I baited the crab pots, then my friend could harvest the "fish" from them and she gained all of her fishing EXP that way. I complete the recipes and fish tank much faster with this perk.
Is it as beneficial as Angler by late game? Perhaps not since gathering money tends to be the only valuable path at a certain point. But depending on where you are in the game / filling out your fishing tab in the journal, Mariner does have more value than one might think.

FISHER (which you should have by the end of the first week, or earlier, with a training rod): This will fund backpacks, a new pole, initial tool upgrades, first farm buildings + animals, and a slew of strawberry seeds in the early game (fishing is USELESS after the first year and maaaaybe a half). TILLER: cause you are a farmer. ARTISAN: because truffles. MINER: because every ore counts until you have a shit stack of cash. FORESTER: 25% more wood is a god send (just remember to replant the seeds you harvest!!) LUMBERJACK: the amount of chopping you are doing, if you are doing it right, you are set for hardwood...and seriously, making trips to the secret woods is a waste of time!! After a year...year and a half and I have a pig farm going I substitute to GATHERER and BOTANIST for the sweet truffle $$$ (DO NOT make truffle oil!! Waste of resources!!) Side skills: with COMBAT I always go damage (then ruby up my galaxy sword) and I am cutting butter. Double my treasure odds with PIRATE (cause you DON`T need to worry about money anymore...but Beannie-Baby Strange dolls? There could be a future market) EVERYTHING else is POINTLESS once you have Ginger island maxing starfruit. After two years, if it ain`t doing anything to produce wine, it is a pain in the ass (fuck the bees!!) Grinding for resources is replaced with dropping fat stacks infront of Robin, Clint, and Marnie...when she is there.

Crab pots are pretty much only worth it if you're playing with the automate mod, and even then having the fish sell for more it's probably a better idea than the crab pot professions

I believe Artisan SHOULD be on the Rancher side of the professions.
Artisan goods should be animal goods focused, instead of crops.

I know! I had no clue artisan was part of the tiller path and now I regret picking rancher.

I do geologist because I don't sell bars. I barely even mine honestly. Once I'm done upgrading to iridium, it's just for the gems for social stuff and to make more farm equipment. Then I sell the extra. And so chance for 2 gems is good for me. I don't really focus on a ton of money when you can get millions so easily
