Definitely leaning heavily towards a used Leaf. I did a test drive and honestly I was blown away by how smooth the drive was, everything in the cabin felt shockingly premium, and the range is absolutely plenty for me (I need about 200km highway). I've been torn between ID.3 and Leaf (about the same price), but I think the Leaf e+ has the nicer cabin in my opinion, although the tech in the ID.3 is fantastic, I think the part that sold me on not getting the ID.3 is the non-physical buttons, I feel like that would drive me absolutely crazy.

Chademo DC charging is not ideal, and the charging speed is also not great for longer journeys with the Leaf. In the UK, there are plenty of Chademo chargers in theory, but in practice they are spaced out and not enough of them at each site. So you might end up waiting to charge. This can extend journey time by a significant margin. For commuting and driving shorter journeys using only home charging the Leaf is great through.

@@decimal1815 true, I'm in Germany and we have a pretty solid amount of Chademo (I check every time I go on a road trip), and so far there's been an available Chademo every time we've stopped on some fairly long road trips. It'd be a lot better with 150KW CCS naturally, but I think I could definitely get by with Chademo.

In my area there are plenty of fast Chademo chargers. Also, the people you're talking about may have the 24 or 30 kWh variant. There now are only 40 kwh and 62kwh models sold.

@@pioneer7777777 Have to agree. Going on my second Leaf. I have a lot of Chademo chargers around me, and Nissans sales are going up on the Leaf. Also my real range in a 40 KWH model is anywhere from 190-270 km (weather dependent in Sweden). Not to mention that I can charge fully in a night at 3 KW. Not sure how far your friends thought they could drive, but my range is well within the stated and expected.

I wonder if it's like my Leaf 40's range estimate, where if you have it in Eco mode the estimate is far too optimistic for highway driving? I've found that the actual range I'll get is what it says in non-Eco mode with heating/AC on. Possibly it's being overly optimistic like that because I don't do a lot of highway driving, so it's basing its estimate on my normal day-to-day driving, and not updating the estimate quickly enough?

  • @andrew7720

I was considering it.. But the range still seems to low for my use case. Ideally I would like to do ~300km at 130-150km/h with some range to spare. Do you think will we ever see hatchback sized EVs with 150-200kWh batteries (to have the same range as a modern diesel) at the same price as the equivalent ICE cars are today?

    • @StartledPancake

      Hi Andrew,
      In due time, we will.
Currently a Model3 can do nearly 400km at 120km/h in decent conditions.
It may be priced higher than what you are looking for though.

    • @decimal1815
      @decimal1815 Год назад

Leaf is a commuter car that you charge at home overnight IMO. Good for journeys of up to 100 miles or so. Longer trips rely on the charging network being excellent, which is unlikely in 2023 at least. Better to get an EV with CCS charging if you need to go on longer journeys.

So we in the 1st minute see the problem ths car will have NO CCS.
if you start at 92% then it should be 46% as have since if you could start at 100% and go to 50% turn around then its equal.
it does mean you should have 4% more energy left when arrive back but it seemed to use more than that
Does it have any battery management ? Why do Nissan the only company deside that you dont need to have any battery management and so save quite a bit on not fitting it
this car is in uk £36K + almost the price of an e-niro with battery management were is the points of the car were it is better than e-niro for were the money saved on battery management has been spent.
