When I attended school in California (I'm from Utah), I was amazed at the rich diversity of the school. The experience offered me new perspectives and opened my mind to other world views.
At my job, we have a wide variety of diversity in employees. I feel it is good to mix everyone, because like you said, older ones will have more insight and experiences than younger folks, etc.
I've always thought of Autism as another demographic, and it's nice that you've implied the same. I also have plans to explore the relativity of disability during an arc in my alien story where one of the protagonists doesn't have wings and can't fly, but most members of her species do have wings and can fly.
Companies that push diversity continuously usually are awful companies to work for, I have personal experience with this haha. Sadly I have to watch this for college which sucks, Thanks though!
I'm sorry that has been your experience. I agree that pushing diversity over qualifications is a recipe for disaster, but if it is the other way around, increasing the pool of candidates in order to find the best qualified person, then it works out very well.
If you're flying on a plane do want a pilot with the highest qualifications regardless of skin color flying the plane or do you want a pilot that is less qualified that was hired mainly based on skin color or sexual identity? I think the NBA needs more diversity....hahaha--qualifications not skin color or gender.
