I am thrilled that I found this!! I recently heard a song that triggered my memory of THIS song and the laughs we had as a family, but all I could think of was something about Grandma and 'lye salts'. I did a Google search and voila!! I was about 6 or 7 yrs. old I think and our family was living in Columbus, OH at the time (my Dad was an Air Force Pilot stationed at Lockbourne AFB). I just recall my Dad singing this and all of us laughing!! Thank you Dayspringacres for loading this! :)
Had this 78 , back in the early 50’s. Played it to death! Let’s sing Alabama, for grandmas lyesoap Good for everything in the home The secret was in the scrubbing It’s wouldn’t suds and wouldn’t foam
I love this so much! When we were kids we used to dance around the living room and sing this, what a hoot!

We used to listen to this all of the time as kids! It was on an old 78 rpm. We loved the sermon on the other side about "Little Bo Peep" as well.
My uncle on his dairy farm had this one on an old 78 rpm record. The other side is a true gem also.
Yes! The other side is "It's In the Book" about Mary's Little Lamb

Yeah, it was a childhood favorite for me also. I've since then made my own soap, and guess what? It doesn't suds and it doesn't foam!
Thought the song was longer, so I'm going to write my own version with the same melody. Always liked the melody.
