I've had Wizard101 on my computer just sitting in the corner as I left it to play Pirate101 and I left it in the dust until recently I realized how much fun it was and now I play it a lot ^-^
I remember this game being gigantic around 2008. I tried multiple times to play it on my family computer but failed. Eventually at around 2013 my cousin flexed his laptop and had a level 60 character with waterworks gear. I played a ton on his computer until in 2014 I was able to get a laptop and FINALLY play it. I also played pirate101 a ton but since they don’t focus on it much I dropped it. I didn’t get membership until around 2015 but for a year I literally just did winter and and pagoda runs to get to level 10+ since you can’t go above 10 in the free experience. I’d meet tons of people and find friends the community is truly INSANE. Eventually I got a max level character when the max level was 120 but it’s so long and I enjoy the leveling portion SOOO much that often I just restart a character just to re experience it. Idk what it is about the game but it’s the only game I can go back to play and re experience. I still remember when darkmoor first came out and experiencing that fresh. I think that’s when the game started going downhill Imo. I haven’t tried out the latest world as I stopped around early 2020
Me and my brother played this game when we were kids back in 2012, we got all the way to wizard city and the paywall hit us. So our parents were nice and got us membership. Too bad, after 1 month we couldn't buy anything due to personal reasons. Wiz was the first game I played on my life. Back in 2015 (if I recall) we had our own money, so we bought membership. Our wizard was a balence wizard. We got all the way to Azteca. Until there was a boss we couldn't even beat. Our membership expired and we didn't want to use our money. So we left the game. My brother wasn't interested anymore sadly, but I.... well I just watched blazelifehammer and zemesterblue. All I did was watch their walkthroughs. All I wished if they removed the paywall. I get it they need the money to keep there game alive. Buy I wished there was some other economic solution so the paywall would be removed. So that's my story. Thank you for anyone who read this far.
Played since 2009, have had 3 accounts total, I have 2 wizards in Lemuria and 1 in Karamelle. These new worlds are extremely fun and whacky and challenging. IMO they saved Wizard101, but we all know this game probably won't last another 10 years. Even with the huge loyal fan base. I have taken long breaks from Wizard101 in the past, but those days are over. I'm here to stay until the very end. I will be here untill the last day of Wizard101. Because I like the game that much as it is right now. There's always something to keep me grinding.
BRO no the community is so freaking amazing, i’ve never a try to harass people or be inappropriate yet (except for that one recent incident), but honestly whenever i see drama between players it’s always so interesting and honestly its just the players making up funny insults about each other. I can’t express how much the community has really kept this game alive. mostly the biggest problem is the pay wall. i honestly dont think we should pay to keep playing but it was reallyyyy worth it for me. this game helped me grow up and the nostalgia it brings out is incredible.
Since I was 10, around 12 years ago, I've put in time as a kid with no membership or crowns where all I did was farm the Kraken all day, to getting my first job and actually buying membership and questing up. To the point to where my expendable income went towards almost nothing but this game. I've spent a shamefully large amount of money on this game and it's hoard/lore packs, other crowns items, memberships, bundles, and anything you could think of. And I've spent more time in this game than I spent on any other game I've ever played. And I wouldn't change a thing about it. I love this game.
Really happy someone’s talking about this game. I’ve had my account since it came out and the game has a special place in my heart. Something you forgot to talk about tho is you don’t have to pay the membership you can buy crowns and own the areas permanently. Personally it’s been cheaper for me overall. Loved the video
I started playing th game again last year. I was about to delete my Storm wizard from2016, but I then gave it a second chance which was the best decision I made. Since I'm older, I'm able to develop strategies to overcome enemies, but still being in the first arc, it's not too challenging and even with the Winter Jammies benefit where you get 12% resistance in all schools it's still difficult. I live by the phrase "work smart not hard" but sometimes self imposed restrictions make the game more challenging and fun. I stopped going to the bazaar because of that.
As someone that stopped playing about 2 years ago. What this game has to offer is below. I have 12 wizards across 2 accounts, 10 of which are level 120-130 The first ARC, he speaks the truth, it's the best ARC in the game as well. It may not seem like it the first couple times around, but as someone that's beaten the game so many times, grinded so long and hard, the first ARC is the best. The second ARC is OKAY, it's just a power hungry follower that tried to become more than they could be. The game changes after level 90, and adding shadow magic in game was the worst thing they did aside from breaking the critical system and ruining combat. The third ARC, this ARC is not for anyone with a fulltime job that works overtime as needed. The third ARC is really fun, some of the worlds are great! Mirage was an amazing world, Empyrea sucked balls, but Karamelle I heard redeemed it. The bosses are challenging, especially Titan. Finding a team before I quit was damn near impossible. The community is pretty much how you saw it when he was in the commons, PVP is forever ruined because of the new stats they put in on gear, turn based PVP is a turnoff IMO but I'm a 1st-2nd age PVP Warlord/Overlord so I don't really like the changes. The game has been a blast since 2009 when I began, but it's turned into a trash heap. It'll be fun on your first, MAYBE second or third playthrough as you get different schools and run through with them, but after that it's just boring. Now a days it's all about adding to the crowns shop, adding key bosses that give shit for loot aside a mount that came in a bundle or pack a while ago, or fucking the game up with a new piece of gear that is literally 1-3% better than the piece you already have. And the last note, end game gear grinding for Dragoon's is a bit much when you have more than 1-2 characters. That's just it on that.
@@ZerittYT At this point in time? I have mixed feelings on it. The game is so fun to remember, sitting here even now thinking about all the times I had sneaking onto my parents computer to get a little questing done, to the feeling of defeating Malistaire for the first time bring so much joy, but as someone that knows the games current status and how it is in the end, I think i'm leaning more towards yes simply due to the memories, however I would be sure to explain how the game is in the end. I feel like the game would be fun for the first 1-3 playthroughs as said above, but after that... Not really, and it's a shame..
dude you literally remind me so much of myself in your perception of this game and just the reason you have for continuing to play this game after so long. This was the first mmo game i ever played and one of the first video games at all I ever played. It has always been so fun and rewarding to me in the way that you play with the desire to make your character as powerful as possible. The friends I've made in this game are without a doubt some of the most chill people I have ever played with,' I related to you so much when you mentioned that. I wish this game got more current attention. I wish some big name streamers would hop on the game and hype it up some. Talk about former glory, this game back in 2010 when I was playing it had such a massive player base (or at least it seemed like) and the commercials on TV just made me as a child even more excited and eager to play and watching that commercial clip you played at the beginning took me back 12 years and made me feel like I did then all over again. This game will always have such a special place in my heart. Thanks for making such a great video about it
This dude literally just explained my entire childhood in the first 20 seconds of the video. I played (and still play) all of the games he listed in that 20 second span.
Man i remember the commercials for this game. I remember trying to start an account with it but always had issues with it so i forgot about it and now i see this recommended to me. What a throw back.
Dude I still love this game to this day. The music the story (story being the first arc lol) are amazing. The nostalgia is real in this game because many of us grew up on this game, and that’s why this video is the truest thing I’ve heard about this game.
I haven't played this game for 10 years and so much has changed since from my child hood since I last played it when I was a little kid. Makes me want to come back to the game and get back into the world of Wizardry once again.
I have no idea how many hours i have dumped into this game but it has always been one of my favorites. I started playing when it first came out and have played it off and on through the years. I think your video describes the game perfectly. I just hope more people will start to play.
Anyone else coming off of the 2022 trailer like just put out? Though Wizard101 is more than nostalgic for me, it was practically one of my summers and the game I played for many years, its been so tempting to get back into.
I remember this game very fondly as i was part of the toxic side of the RUclips bubble of the game , as being friends with heather the wizard and therealjay didn't help. But still i played this game all thoughout my childhood and it helped me realize no game will be as good as wizz when i first opened it.
wizard101 is truly a chilhood favorite of my it will always hold a special place in my heart started playing in 2008 when i saw the first commercial and i fell in love
I feel like the part where you talked about pvp was slightly incomplete. Pvp is far from perfect, but it's come a long way from the 2015 days when ice could beat any other school without breaking a sweat. There are definitely still balance problems in pvp, but a lot of the most egregious issues have been resolved.
Amazing video! Although the only pay to win item in the game is the wand, all the other best gear is done by farming and u can still craft rlly good wands :D
As someone who has had the game since 2011, this game is my childhood and I will never forget it. I also took the time to rip the game files to put my Wizard into VRChat.
Don't forget about that "Jumpstart" mmo! I played the shit out of this, Jumpstart, and Monkey Quest as a kid and membership subscriptions were the BANE of my existence. I never got to get that kind of stuff as a kid, so I missed out on the majority of those games, but somehow still entertained myself with the free areas.
I started playing 10 y÷ars ago at request then my family made me stop because they felt I was addicted. So recently I was asked to play again and I have started up again and now I play it with my daughter and grandsons!! I do enjoy it!!
Fucking love this game bro, grew up on this shit. Even tho it’s so shitty is some aspects and kingsile doesn’t rlly give a fuck about us, it’s so nostalgic I can’t help but play it every year.
The only thing that bugs me about the game is I remember being a kid and always ending up locked out of the main quest cause you essentially have to be pay-to-play or grind for AGES in order to advance somewhere. They've been doing a free membership briefly this December, and I'm finally going to all these places I never could as a kid because my parents never paid for a membership. Idk if this is as big an issue as it was years ago, but it make child me so disappointed. Imagine if genshin did something like that lmao. Ppl would riot.
I agree with everything you said in this video and I think you painted a very good light on the game entirely. Sure it has its flaws but what game doesn’t. I’m about to clock 4000 hours in the game and I will always have a special place in my heart for Wiz and the community behind it 💙
Been playing since October or November 2008 off and on. The problem I had with the second arc wasn’t the story. That was kinda engaging for me. The problem was how often the same quest style was used repeatedly. There were far too many “defeat and collect” or “go halfway across the world and talk to this person” quests compared to the other types of quests the game offers.
Well, at least it isn't just tank controls. You can control your character via a mouse. Also, fun fact, there used to be a mod for wizard101 that you can install for a better visual look, not a texture overhaul, but a redux overhaul. Doesn't work anymore and it is an old mod, hasn't been updated since.
Pirates of the Carribean now has a free version of the game called The Legend of Pirates Online. They even added new islands. Sadly only like 100 to 200 people play it per day
I must of played this for thousands of hours, I showed my dad it and didn't think he would play but he ended up more addicted than I was xD levelled up every class and reached warlord on them all (i think i had to delete one since there wasn't enough spots for every class if i recall which drove me mad a bit) I don't remember my account so I don't think I'll play again but I would love to see a remake
@@X_X21 for a limited time, and also, they should at this point make the first arc free to play AT LEAST. They make most of their money from crown purchases and milking people for packs, not the subscription, anyway.
I've been playing this game since I was 3 and my highest-level character is 73, so I was obviously not focused on the storyline quests even though it's the best part of this game.
Really nice video! I love your humour and editing style! I really think wizard city should be free to all players at this point, in order to give newbies more of an idea as to what the game is like. Too much pay to win and pay to play happening. Also, perhaps an upgrade of the school of myth? It freaking sucks. I love the teacher, but wow the spells are disappointing.

i keep coming back to this game because it's so easy to play, i can only use my mouse and click a few times a minute, love to play while watching something or even grinding a mobile game.
the fact that child me hated memberships and bought every area with crowns up to kysalyis also helps me reinvigorate my addiction, as i can get a character up to level 70-80 without needing a membership..
When you said Monkey Quest you unlocked at least 20 memories I forgot I had. Thank you for that 😭
this video is GOING to blow up, its gonna go from 147 to 10,000 views in less than 2 weeks I reckon
3.6k viewers as of now
8k in a month LOOLOLOLOLOL
10,000 views now, u were right.
I have 12 wizards across 2 accounts, 10 of which are level 120-130
The first ARC, he speaks the truth, it's the best ARC in the game as well.
Genuinely curious, if you had a friend that had never played wiz before and asked you to recommend a game to play, would you recommend Wiz?
@@ZerittYT At this point in time? I have mixed feelings on it. The game is so fun to remember, sitting here even now thinking about all the times I had sneaking onto my parents computer to get a little questing done, to the feeling of defeating Malistaire for the first time bring so much joy, but as someone that knows the games current status and how it is in the end, I think i'm leaning more towards yes simply due to the memories, however I would be sure to explain how the game is in the end.
I feel like the game would be fun for the first 1-3 playthroughs as said above, but after that... Not really, and it's a shame..
Quit being a suk nut, if you know that much of the game then you know overlord is nit a rank.
dude you literally remind me so much of myself in your perception of this game and just the reason you have for continuing to play this game after so long. Thanks for making such a great video about it
idk why i'm getting recommended videos that have so little views but these are still well made.
Wizard101 holds a special place in my heart. I've been playing since 2008. I may have outgrown it, but I'll never forget it.
I keep going back and I’ll just always be grateful that it’s still around!
I appreciate that this video addresses the issues the game still has.
Great video man, keep it up! Been a while since I played but the nostalgia this gave me was amazing 😄
really really good vid, especially for only 52 subs. you gonna hit it big one day bro
I got a max fire storm life myth and death and balance all that questing cured my depression.
This will go viral.
great video, love your editing and humor
I remember this game very fondly as i was part of the toxic side of the RUclips bubble of the game , as being friends with heather the wizard and therealjay didn't help. But still i played this game all thoughout my childhood and it helped me realize no game will be as good as wizz when i first opened it.
wizard101 is truly a chilhood favorite of my it will always hold a special place in my heart started playing in 2008 when i saw the first commercial and i fell in love
this is actually the most underrated video i love this and I love this game
The special event this December got me back online with the death wizard character I made in 2014, it really is a good game.
I feel like the part where you talked about pvp was slightly incomplete. Pvp is far from perfect, but it's come a long way from the 2015 days when ice could beat any other school without breaking a sweat. There are definitely still balance problems in pvp, but a lot of the most egregious issues have been resolved.
Definitely would agree with you, PVP has come a long way and I didn't give them enough credit on that.
Now pvp is doo doo
Amazing video! Although the only pay to win item in the game is the wand, all the other best gear is done by farming and u can still craft rlly good wands :D
I like your honesty.
Do Pirate101, im playing it right now it feels good to come back after 5 years
The commons are where you find the beggers .
been playing this game since 2011 and i still come back to it to this day
As someone who has had the game since 2011, this game is my childhood and I will never forget it.
I do enjoy it!!
that jasmine girl is in the commons 23 hours a day and flexes that she is 30 years old and makes above minimum wage
i thought she said she's 20, and someone else is 30
Fucking love this game bro, grew up on this shit. Even tho it’s so shitty is some aspects and kingsile doesn’t rlly give a fuck about us, it’s so nostalgic I can’t help but play it every year.
Solid video and great explanation of such an awesome game.
I remember Pirate 101 too, that game was lit, I loved both of these games
The only thing that bugs me about the game is I remember being a kid and always ending up locked out of the main quest cause you essentially have to be pay-to-play or grind for AGES in order to advance somewhere. They've been doing a free membership briefly this December, and I'm finally going to all these places I never could as a kid because my parents never paid for a membership. Idk if this is as big an issue as it was years ago, but it make child me so disappointed. Imagine if genshin did something like that lmao. Ppl would riot.
I just came back to the game after 6 months and everytime I take a break I always come back 😂oh and you mind selling me that mightier quill 😅
And then I can't stop playing for 2 weeks straight, just to forget about it for another 6 months lol.
@@ZerittYT Exactly 😂
Us Wizheads are like William Afton from Five Nights at Freddy's (perhaps more known as Springtrap or Glitchtrap) in that we always come back.
Commenting for the algorithm so more people will see this
Thank you for releasing the locked away memory that was Monkey Quest
W101's community is so good that I used to play the game just to interact and have fun with friends
Monkey Quest god tier
If I ever seen Dan Schneider it's on sight.
Nice video. The last 3 seconds of corrupted audio makes this even better lmao. Subscribed.
Edit: also your humour is bomb lmao
The way you portrayed this was a masterpiece
Well, at least it isn't just tank controls. You can control your character via a mouse. Also, fun fact, there used to be a mod for wizard101 that you can install for a better visual look, not a texture overhaul, but a redux overhaul. Doesn't work anymore and it is an old mod, hasn't been updated since.
Wizard 101 and Old School Runescape are the best games to come back to every once in a while
Pirates of the Carribean now has a free version of the game called The Legend of Pirates Online.
They even added new islands. Sadly only like 100 to 200 people play it per day
I still play it because its still fun and love making new friends and helping players on the game
I must of played this for thousands of hours, I showed my dad it and didn't think he would play but he ended up more addicted than I was xD levelled up every class and reached warlord on them all (i think i had to delete one since there wasn't enough spots for every class if i recall which drove me mad a bit)
I don't remember my account so I don't think I'll play again but I would love to see a remake
They should make it free to play at this point, or at least gives us some world for free :)
They do now actually, very recently the first 2 worlds are free now
@@X_X21 for a limited time, and also, they should at this point make the first arc free to play AT LEAST. They make most of their money from crown purchases and milking people for packs, not the subscription, anyway.
Make it all free up until Celestia
Right now till the 20th they have everything free besides crown shop items. Best time to play is right now.
I started playing this in 2009 and the highest level I had for years was 15 because I couldn’t get a membership. Over 12 years of on and off playing I recently got to level 82.
I've played since the game came out for like 4 years straight, but I stopped after Azteca. I definitely miss MB and KT. I'm 22 now so its been a fat minute since I played
Lover your humor. 😂. I have been playing since 2010 still love playing this game.
I love wiz, so many memories. Hopefully it will always have a small playerbase
I still play wizard101 on and off... and goddamnit, I'm gonna keep this game going until it collapses!
"just dive in and have some fun like when we were kids" bro that shit hit
4:06 "I'm willing to bet that Wizard 101 has one of the oldest player basis of any online game"
Maplestory, Runescape, and Everquest veterans are amused.
Great video though. Never have been in the slightest interested in W101 but with this video, it seems like I missed a good little gem growing up.
I’ve played since 2010 and I will stand by this game till the day I die
5:57 I cried laughing seeing this
I've got 28 maxed wizards, and you are absolutely right. The second arc can piss off
I remember I used to love the little quiz at the start till i realized only one question actually matters and its the last one like what is your favorite gem stone or whatever.
I been playing this game since 2014 feb 8th
Pirates Online and Toon Town are alive in fan remade versions, but im not so sure about the other games. man do i miss Monkey Quest.
Since ever Wizard101 came out, I have been playing this game a lot. My favorite school is death.
I remember when I first played this game with one of my cousins when I was over at his house for the day because our parents were at work at that time I believe I was around 8 to 10 years old now I’m 23 currently waiting for New World to drop. And I find myself playing wizard 101 in the meantime because there is no other MMO but I would rather spend my time in
