I made the switch to mint mobile also. I like how you can pay a year in advance. After my offer is over i am for sure going to be renewing every 12 months!
1:47 Make sure you don’t cancel your old phone service before you port because you might lose your number. Just follow the porting process from your new provider (this works for all of them) and your old provider should auto cancel.
Bich got an attitude when I requested to port my number and hung up fast lmao. Make sure all your info matches exactly or porting from computer will not work. Capitals and correct spelling of streets matter.
Ive had MintMobile for a few months now and I have not noticed a difference in service from my old carrier (ATT). The only difference so far is the price. $45 for the first three month (now $45 for the first six month with 3 month credit). I was given a $15 credit towards renewal so my next 12 months will be $165 and with every referral i get another $15 credit towards my bill. The other carriers are not worth the extra money you pay. They offer you a phone just to hook you into a contract. With the money you save you can buy a phone when needed and without another contract. Not having that bill every month is really nice.
So in heavy and I mean VERY heavy traffic areas(talking super busy shopping plazas) is the only time I experienced severe data depriortization. If you're using GPS, that relies 95% on GPS so in those few slow times, I never experienced map delay or map lag.
You convinced me that I should switch to Mint from AT&T! My data downloads are now more than twice as fast with Mint than with AT&T - no one is more surprised than I. Thank you brother!
@@wanelly It is not a lie my friend. I don’t know where you live but I’m a realtor here in Virginia Beach & Mint (which is really T-Mobile) is way way faster than my AT&T ever was. I bought a 3 month Mint plan & put that new SIM card in my spare iPhone & the speeds were so much faster that I bought a 12 month plan & ported my number to Mint! I haven’t had one single problem since switching.
ATT has one of the oldest and most outdated networks of all carriers. T-Mobile utilizies it's own network and Sprint's 2.4 for the net 5G network. By far the fastest speeds you can get from a mobile network.
Last year I started using Mint service. This summer I went on a double cross country road trip (east-west-east) and the service was absolutely amazing and smooth, except only for Nebraska where the signal was extremely weak. Absolutely recommend Mint!
I’m making a cross country trip from west to east coast. I have Verizon and pay 90 a month as a single individual I’m really wanting to save so I need to switch! A little nervous switching before the trip.
I switched to Mint Mobile from StraightTalk a little over a year ago only because I just didn't need much data since I'm mostly on WiFi. I did a short trial then I purchased an annual plan which is a huge savings.I'm on an iPhone 12 mini and the voice, text, and data have all worked great while at home, in stores, on dog walks... They have a trial SIM card, auto renewal, visual voicemail, WiFi calling, ability to purchase more data if needed, service text message notifications, an app which shows remaining data, and ability to manage other numbers... I'm very happy with the switch. I was happy with my previous carrier, but this one saves me more money and I only have to pay once a year which is nice.
Mint is good. Fricken walmart has a 25$ basic plan on their wall that's unreal I used to use unlimited. Cricket is amazing too for like 40$ you get unlimited and it's got great reception. Everyone is using everyone else's cell towers at this point anyway.
The irony is many towers are still owned by a third party, like Crown Castle International. So in many instances you won't be using a competitors tower.
Just to be clear you can see the App data usage on your phone usually under the Data Usage tab somewhere. If you select the app in the tab you can turn off the ability for apps to use data in the background.
I switched from T-Mobile to Mint because of their crappy service and I was throttled at 500mb despite being on ultimated data plan. So far I have not had any issue with Mint. However, based on what you told us about the awesome Mint's no track policy makes it even sweeter for people who are concerned about privacy.
Am on metro PCs and never had a problem period. However I heard mint mobile is some what crappy . Than I heard it good so am not sure. I might just keep metro and test mint out . However am grandfather in with metro so I think I stay with a better service I only pay 68 a month for two phones about what I pay here any way
I’ve been with Sprint (now T-mobile) for over 10 years now. No issues til the merge, and now they’re even requesting a down payment for a new phone. If I’m already an existing customer, I shouldn’t have to pay down payment for an upgrade (I didn’t in the past), and Their customer service team keeps giving me a run around. Might as well switch to a cheaper alternative at this point. Thanks for the review!!!
You can just use your google account to backup your numbers and call history. If you go in your network settings you can view your data usage and control your usage.
I took my lg g6 from sprint over too mint just started year 2 few days ago. The thing I miss most is I no longer have visual voicemail and I sometimes get delayed text which seems to be a common issue with my phone . I have a new phone on the way I just bought on amazon so Im hoping the delayed text thing stops. Its mainly an issue like when you login to say a bank acct. and they want to send a text to make sure its you well they usually give you like 10 minutes or the code is no longer valid. A workaround I found is I can just sent a text to anyone and that will trigger it to immediately send me any texts that were being delayed. I did contact mint on the issue and they offered no resolution. I have a feeling that maybe something about that sprint phone wasnt fully compatible even though the mint website said it was.
I use an app on Android playstore called my visual voicemail. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vna.service.vvm . It works just like t-mobiles visual voicemail. That delayed texting does seem super inconvenient because I deal with that bank scenario a lot when I need to enter a security code in a short period of time so I hear you.
That was your sprint phone, I had the OnePlus 6T and OnePlus had their own phone app with visual voicemail integration and it worked flawlessly, I'm at a Samsung Note 10+ and it doesn't have visual voicemail.
I used to have TMO and I would get delayed and duplicate texts semi-frequently when I had my phone on Wi-Fi calling. I got around it by disconnecting and reconnecting Wi-Fi when it started acting up.
wasnt a sales pitch- was giving you info that MINT doesn't ESPECIALLY about the misleading REAL cost of the service. it is NEVER 15$/month after the 'hook' of the first 3 months. MINT makes users pay a 'recovery fee' to pay them for their admin costs and you CANNOT find out this actual out of pocket cost until it's time to get more service. not included: MINT does not accurately keep track of your data usage and can make you pay their updata to keep using the service. MINT loses text messages and phone calls.
I love paying only $15 a month, but I rarely use data, for me it's mostly just a phone so it's a great deal. I was with Virgin Mobile, and I got unlimited t&t but less data and I had to pay $25 a month, I like $15 much more. Plus I paid for 3 months, and they gave me another 3 months for free. At that point in order to keep the $15 rate you have to purchase a years worth of service up front, which again was great, less to worry about every month. So now it's 3/10/21 and I'm paid in full through 5/10/22, just the way I like it, cause I hate monthly bills.
@@zaboomafooba The actor Ryan Reynolds does commercials for them plus I'm pretty sure he owns the company. The service so far has been stellar here in NC.
If these are the only items you found as "issues" then I'd say a Mint Mobile is fantastic. My Google pixel already tracks data and battery usage by app so problem solved on that item. Thank you for posting a super helpful review of your experience!
Yes, agreed. I put my son on Mint Mobile a few years ago, so I have gone through a few renewals and I think it's been spectacular. The price is so much lower than any other company that was an option and I had no need to unlimited data. The only thing I could see as an issue is that I can't track my teen's calls and texts from the carrier. There are products like Bark that can do this though. All these years I crazily kept paying my $71/month AT&T plan on my phone and I had to have unlimited data that I didn't need. Thankfully I came to my senses. I paid for the whole year what I was paying for in less than 3 months.
Appreciate the review. Sounds perfect for my mom, who's been on a pay-per-minute (and no data) prepaid plan with T-Mobile for over a decade. Gonna set her up with Mint this weekend. :)
Dope video! I just made the switch to mint and even got a galaxy s20 FE 5g to go with it. I caught the buy 3 months get 3 months free promotion and after that I plan on doing the yearly option so I don't have to worry about a month to month phone bill. The service is good because T mobile service works fine where I am, so I don't expect any problems.
My friend is using Mint but it’s very easy to burn through 35GB since Mint is his primary ISP as he doesn’t have WiFi at home. He’s considering switching to Visible. For $40 truly unlimited data with tethering is a great deal. The price drops to $25 with Party Pay.
@@lyriclanguages3780 problem is that with LTE and 5G it's not that hard to burn through 35GB of that. Especially if it includes 4K/HD videos. I don't know why someone would care about 4K or even 1080p on their phones but when they do it an hour long show will easily burn through 3 to 4 gigs.
@@lilsamantha1 well back then it was unusable. Maybe just maybe some messenger services like WhatsApp or iMessage. Other than that it was terrible after 35GB. They have been on Visible since then and it was been the best option since if it does slow down it's usually after 50GB or so and only if the tower is crowded. Still it's quiet usable.
I assume you can use your phone with Mint if you switch over from Verizon, for example? As long as the phone is unlocked, that is. I spend 90% of my time at work, the gym, & home. All in which, have Wi-Fi access. I'm literally paying $100/ mo to have access when I'm in between these 3 locations, which is ludacris!
This video was very helpful. To be honest the two points in this video was plus for me. I don't really want a carrier to keep track of me. This day and age there is enough of places "keeping track of us" The phone has the way to keep track of all that stuff. I will have to rely on my self instead of relying on a big company to keep my info safe and not abuse it. Again the video was very helpful ty.
Also, just want to point out, if you did want that feature it is built into android as an option. You can turn on (or off) backing up your friends list, call data and texts on the Google cloud.
Ive been with Tmobile/Metro PCS for several years and they have not prioritized one phone call for Me. In that time Ive moved to 3 new placesin so cal and where ever I move, thats where I cant make phone calls. The last month I cant even send a txt. They always say they cover your area so the maps are just lies or they intentionally De-prioritize my phone. I have 600 mbs wifi 7 ft from my phone and still cant make a call or txt. This was my last month with them so I thought Id switch to mint but if they use the same towers... IDK. All phone companies suck
Totally incompetent Tech Support and super inefficient Customer Service. Their "specialist" screwed up my porting in and then it took me literally 8 hours of my time on the phone with them, over 2 full weeks without cell service, to shepherd them thru the fix. Their whole system is ineffective. Everytime I called them (like 15 times) it took them 20-25 mins to answer the phone + another 30-45 mins to transfer me to transfer me to a more competent Supervisor. One day, I literally spend 3 solid hours on the phone with them just trying to track a new SIM card that was late arriving, only to find they accidentally never sent it. Honest to God. Now on Tello and it's a totally different experience. Took me literally 15 minutes to port myself in and another 15 mins to port in my number. When I did make a mistake, their Customer Service picked up after 2 rings and was super helpful in troubleshooting my issue and resolving it. Their system is infinitely more functional. And they're just as cheap, as Mint is now raising its prices after selling out to T-Mobile.
i repeatedly got completely conflicting info from each different representative. ALSO HIGH data throttling to point of waiting five minutes just to load a native app - I have spent hours trying to get their data to work properly.
Mint is good, used them for about 3 months and they were pretty decent, I recently switched to Metro by t-mobile's unlimited $40 a month plan which i think is the better path to go.
I use cricket unlimited plan, and while they say they may throttle your data after 21 gigs, I've used way more than that in a month and have never had slower data speed because of it.
I REALLY like the service with Mint Mobile. Been with them for over 3 years! The PROS definitely outweigh the cons.. ESPECIALLY all the 💰 money I've saved over the years!
@@strategicdating CONS 1) Deprioritization 2) 35 GB data cap on UNLIMITED plan/month. (2g speeds thereafter) 3) ROAMING is not supported. 4) PRO & CON : The BEST $ DEALS $ are on the ANNUAL PLANS. 5) MINT MOBILE is NOT for someone who's CONSTANTLY glued to their phone video streaming.
Switched to Mint from AT&T 3 years ago, I'm pretty low maintenence when it comes to my cell phone. I just need it for talk, text and internet. I have the option for hotspot which is nice. I've had zero problems with them i pay for the entire year and keep it moving.
Yeah, you get a lower priority on the stack meaning you start at a lower lever so you have to restart your phone (refresh your stack to put you back to the highest level you can be). You go down on the stack as you use the phone normally after each connection or site you use.
Great question: You won't need to call T-Mobile to cancel. But you would need to have your porting pin which you can get from T-Mobile if you don't have it. If you do cancel, you "may" lose your number. Porting automatically cancels out the old number
so i want to start paying for my own plan since i’ve been on my family’s for a while now. i think it’s time for me to start doing things on my own, but i’m pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff. i’ve been reading lots of sites and watching videos about phone plans, but i’m scared of having to pay too much at the end of the day. i’m currently on t-mobile, but it’s too much for me. would mint be the best option? i’ve been seeing pretty good reviews but also some bad ones too, so i’m hesitant
Mint is a good starter plan, but not only that it's a good plan if you want to save a ton of money. I don't pay for my service anymore due to referrals which I am super happy about but at the same time the service has a lot of options like hotspot, tiers of data and flexible plan prices.
I’m young and broke, and I been using Mint for 7 months. It’s pretty reliable in my opinion. Compare to Verizon, they made me pay 120$ a month and put me in 600$ in debt. Don’t ever go into contracts if you don’t know what you’re doing 😂; trust me.
If your share of the family plan with T mobile is about the same $ per month, you should stay on the family plan and just contribute $ to the family bill.
When I was up in North Dakota working, I dropped Sprint for Verizon, no Sprint service up that way. My phone was already paid for and unlocked, right now I pay monthly, $35 with around five or ten GB of data. It is a monthly no contract plan, I set it up at a local Dickinson ND Verizon store. Might want to call them.
Everton,... Thank you for enlightening folks about possibilities of going another route with phone and data service. Your video was very helpful to me with understanding of the nuances.
Im currently leaving T mobile and my ex (we are stuck on a line together till I pay my phone off). Mint mobile is grabbing my attention right now. Im gunna have to try this out.
@@gonshepard8369 still good. Im in NC on a trip in some country parts there is no service only wifi but thats also the same for my pastor who has Verizon
@@docwatson2191 they run on both tmobile and sprint since they have combined companies and combined their towers so you have coverage of both networks for a 8th of the price
I did Mont for a year went to Canada and in the middle of driving my phone just stopped working. I was done, I'm looking for something with Travelling build in.
I never got mint to work on a phone they said would work . After three days i cancelled service . Called them after after a couple weeks when they said refund would come . Called back in a few days and they started to put me on hold then hang up on me . They did disconnect the number and no refund . Would never use them again
This video is on point and very accurate! Mint mobile is absolutely amazing! I have it and love it! I get fast 5g T-Mobile reception! Bought a used iPhone XR on offer up for $250 plus one year Mint service for CHEAP!
I've been using Mint Mobile for 4 months now and . . . If you live in Northern South Dakota or North Dakota . . . It is a hit or miss. I've changed the settings in my phone several times and it has gotten better, but sometimes I try make a call and it says 'Network Not Available' or co-workers asks me about a txt - that I never received. It is T-Mobile and South Dakota seems to be predominantly Verizon, AT&T, or straight Talk. I am thinking about purchasing another phone that is Volt capable to see if that makes any difference, I hope it does because Mint is cheap and great, when it's working.
I use a lot of unlocked international phones that are not officially sold in the US, so the moment major carriers rolled out "whitelists" to provide service to approved phones only, I saw that as anti-consumer and switched over to Mint, and haven't looked back!
Mint Mobile, when trying to activate, asks for my current account's 'PIN' # ??? My current carrier account with PureTalk USA has NO PIN# tied to it. My question is - do I leave this field on the Mint Mobile Activation Page... EMPTY? I received my FedEx Envelope yesterday from Mint Mobile and it has TWO Sim Cards??? One is for a 7 day free trial... & the other Sim Card is for ?? what??? the real thing?? I thought I would get ONE SIM CARD and if before 7 days was up, I could cancel. NO?? So... I have not even started yet and I am stuck on these 2 questions. Why oh why does something that could be sooo simple, start out this way. Any help is much appreciated. Seems every week a new update(?) tutorial, plan, option, etc, etc, etc, comes out online on RUclips. Thanks for sharing.
I've had Mint Mobile since December and im pretty happy about it. It's saved me sooo much money. But the data burn is really the only issue I've had. Other than that, I have no complaints here. 😌
I brought my phone number from T-Mobile to Mint nearly yr ago. Lost phone service while illness for free months in hospital. I still have the old SIM card w/mint and everything from serial number to network etc shows as unknown. My number is still listed but that's it. The IP address is like 2 blocks long lol. Number online identify as Verizon. What can I do. Can I get any of my data info or am I screwed.
I am very unhappy with Mint mobile. I live in central FL and the data and voice keeps dropping calls every 3 minutes or so and the data keeps switching from 4G to E. I reported the problem to Mint mobile but no action. I signed up for 3 months prepaid. I am stuck for now and going to switch back to Page PLUS.
My experience with Mint Mobile was an absolute disaster and ended up with me all alone over the recent holidays with no cell phone or internet coverage for ten days and then Mint saying it is no longer their policy to give refunds --- even though I had purchased three months cell phone and unlimited internet service in advance -- for which I did not receive even a minute of phone or internet service. Does anyone know if there are legal issues I could here explore to get my money back?
I'm on mint mobile. First plan I purchased was a 3 month plan. Renewed it for a full year and more data. Just renewed the same plan for an additional year. I did purchase a new phone though. My old one was not working as well as I'd wanted. But I purchased it outright and unlocked for a huge discount and I don't think I'll ever go back to a standard phone plan again.
Here is what I need to know. I depend on my phone almost everyday for turn by turn directions from Google maps. I wouldn't think that used a lot of data, but I really don't know. I was only going to flip out of Verizon if I could do it for the minimum $15/mo. That is 90% of what I use my phone for.I juat want to know if I will still be able to use google maps with Mint Mobile like I do with Verizon.
Mint mobile isn't supposed to have all the huge features that the major carriers have. This carrier is focused on saving money with the buy in bulk plans, giving the best performance on the T-Mobile, they focus on letting people use their own phones even though they offer phones to buy, but there's no reason to upgrade a phone if you're not in a contract because the only time you would need to "upgrade" in your context is in a contract where you need financing through the major carrier, where mint doesn't require financing through a contract plan since that's not how they operate. You pay for what you get. You pay for the plan, service that you get, the honesty they give out and if you choose to buy a phone, it's the full price. It doesn't have all the perks the major carriers have because it's a digital only side MVNO which in a good light uses T-Mobile's full service performance. They don't need to offer all the major perks on the side of all the huge focal points that they already offer people which is what people who want to save money usually need. I've been using mint for the past few months and it's one of the best service providers I've ever been with. I recommend it for anyone who just needs service at a good price because it's going to offer everything like good customer service, hotspot and a huge amount of phone support on the network. It's good for most people and keep in mind when I say most people who just need service that gets the job done at a reasonable price with no contracts, no hidden fees or any major struggle that comes with the major contract carriers.
@@evertonsway that's the thing about them, they improve as time goes on. Over time since the past 4+ years they they stated, their customer support has improved over time, the data performance and speed has improved over time, they have added more and more new plans over time and optimised them as well as recently added an unlimited plan and much more. They are doing great at keeping up with upkeeping their good service for their customers and meeting and in some cases exceeding the expectations you'd get with a major contract carrier plan. Free hotspot, cheap add on data, simple to use app with support, management and plan changing and everything else you would need and more which is always improving. Here's another good part, as T-Mobile improves, so does your mint overall service which is because mint uses the full performance of the major carrier unlike other side MVNO's like other small carriers which don't hold up with good service quality and supper. So to answer your question, yes, they are always improving, adding and getting better overtime. It may not be a major carrier, but it doesn't disappoint.
I don't think mint mobile is perfect and there are definitely more features that can be added. Its not a knock like the service is bad, it's just an unbiased look at the service
Great video! I’ve been using Mint Mobile since 2017, and I am extremely happy with it. I currently have the 8GB 12 month plan and essentially pay $20 per month. I also love how they include mobile hotspot and 5G at no additional cost. Now, I’ve had zero experience with using the major carriers, but this one works just fine for me 😃
@@hieuniverse I'm definitely switching over and they have a special going on right now where are you paid 3 months and you get 3 months free and it has to be done before I believe the 2nd of January! This is for all new activations. That's crazy cheap! Within those three or six months one would know if they want to keep the service or not indefinitely so they can lock in for the year that $15 a month afterwards. I'm currently in have just recently this month switched from Verizon paying $45 a month after taxes to paying $20 and change per month for the same exact plan. Unlimited talk and text and 2 GB of data but there's the issue with the sending and receiving of photos to the phone numbers. Mint mobile gives 3 gigabytes of data and I've never come close to 2 gigabytes of usage with Verizon. To me this is a no-brainer. Thanks for the reply.
Been trying for 2 days to trans my number. At first poor service call and cut off from call. Then I found I made an error with my PIN. Resubmitted it. Have gotten e-mail transfer complete but when I try to log in it says "in progress". So what to do? Carry around 2 fn SIM cards? Can't comment on the wireless service cause it's not complete. However their customer service : 1 Do not speak ckear English. 2 Don't seem to know WTF they are doing. Back to ATT?
service pricing is so competitive these days it only makes sense to go with mint mobile if you do not need unlimited data. If you are fine with data caps or can work around what they offer than I think Mint Mobile is a great option.
Dude now sure how your.number got transfered over. I jump threw hoops for 12 hrs and mintmoble stated the transfer was complete with wrong number. tried to gave them chance to fix it and ran me around the ringer again, while also failing. Sim out, tmobile fix everything and I am back with them.
So I have a question. I have cricket wireless and I bought a new phone and you thought I thought was a Samsung S20 Fe which they also sell. But I didn't buy it from them as soon as I put the SIM card in they suspend the account. When I put the same card back in my old Motorola E5 super that I got from them the account was so suspended. So I have to call them to unsuspend it. Now the first time it happened I called them and they did not suspend the SIM card while it was on the Samsung f20 SE. And the phone worked throughout the day perfectly. Now the Samsung s20fe is a GSN phone and I know it works on their service but cricket now has got it in their head that unless you buy a cricket phone it looks like they will not let you use any other phones. The the question I have is does mint restrict what phone you can bring on. I mean I know you can't bring on probably eight CDMA phone but can pretty much any GSM phone be used for them. I hate having to buy a phone through the provider to pay the extra price for a phone that actually Lacks in the specs department.
I had mint mobile a while ago, it wasn’t the best at least in my area. So then I switched to Straight talk, it was alright but was missing stuff I wanted. So then I switched to sprint. It was great in my area. Now they merged with T-Mobile and I’m loving the 5G Signal!
@@lonelystarr444 Sprint is worthless if you live out in the country! Verizon is your best bet overall but their expensive! MINT makes a great backup phone!!!
I pay $45., a month for full unlimited with ATT on my friends family plan. I use an iPhone 8 as of 8-2021. I financed my iPhone 8 thru ATT on my friends family plan. I want to upgrade to an iPhone 11 or newer iPhone once I have my financing paid off with ATT for my iPhone 8. I like Mint Mobile or at least what I see about it on RUclips videos like this one. If Mint Mobile had a financing plan for phone upgrades I think I would switch to Mint Mobile. But I am spoiled and happy with my ATT family plan.
Mint Mobile is awesome I left Sprint like a bad relationship after paying off my iPhone. No longer is Data an issue it’s now unlimited Text, Talk and Data as of 2021. Plus u can pay for 3, 6 or 12 months. For a Year I’m pay $360 plus tax! 😊
Great video! I have been using Mint for almost 2 years now, didn't notice the issues you mentioned. For me the most appealing thing to me is, ya, price. It's not perfect, but it totally worth the money.
Why can't I call anyone? It comes up as someone else and not in my name. Everything else seems pretty fine, but I get automatically blocked by family thinking I'm a Spammer. I text before calling so they know it's me, still... Nothing
I don't think we needed the "Unlimited" option, since we're at home with WiFi almost 24/7, but my husband wanted it. And even with that most expensive tier, we'll be saving $40/month. 👍
One of the secrets of the mobile carriers is that they all use each others networks, and reducing the priority of another carriers customers may result in thier customers having thier priorities reduced. This effectively means that they will be reluctant to reduce priority. All mint needs is a tower in an area that blocks the other carriers from placing towers. Of course, do you really want to risk reducing the priority of ryans customers, a guy who would have no problem outting your company?
Im switching from Boost to Mint on my Moto. Ported my # to Mint, then contacted Boost to Carrier Unlock my phone. Now its day 4...still locked. Phone recognizes the Boost Sim and gives signal strength. When inserting the Mint Sim, it says No Sim. Mint says the Sim will be recognized after Boost unlocks the phone. Does that sound right?
Enjoyed the videos about Mint, Everton. After watching all of them about your experience and likes and dislikes, I decided to give it a shot. I went through the link you had in the description so hopefully you will get credit from my purchase. Also considering trying the VPN you recommended. Thanks for the good content and the recommendation.
How does Mont handle taxes and fees? I don't think they are included in their cut rate plan pricing? Trying to determine how much additional cost I'd see on top of the monthly plan charge.
Here in Finland, I get unlimited text, unlimited data (at ~150 Mbps) & unlimited calls at 19,95€ a month, which is roughly twenty bucks. Finland is a very competitive market with three major carriers. There used to be more but they were all bought out by the said three. Still, the competition is strong. A great law that we have is that locking phones to a single carrier is now illegal, so companies sell unlocked phones. The Mint equivalent of Finland offers worse pricing than the major carrier I'm using. The great thing here is that you can get 12 months at 20€ a month after which the price increases, but you can then pretend that your switching carriers to get the mobile operator to lower the price. I went from 20€ a month, completely happy with the carrier but not with increased cost to 18€ a month for two years without a contract. 2 years of discount but not locking.
35 gigs of data is enough for me. I turn off all auto updates and update when using WiFi. Unless your one of those type of people who buy $1000+ phones every six months. You can buy decent phones off of eBay, Amazon, B&H Photo etc.
I'm fine with the 3GB plan as all I'm doing is messaging people and browsing the web, I just download video and shows to watch off wifi. So far I love mint mobile and never switching back
Those auto updates data are nothing compared to video streaming. I never switch on WiFi the entire month. I do everything over cellular and that includes app updates, Android update etc. My max data usage is still 20GB (this includes video streaming too). My friend uses an average of 50GB (on t-mobile) streaming 1440p videos. He also never turns on his WiFi.
The financing thing might be an issue for most people, but the one thing I like about the Apple Card is it not only allows you to finance iPhones with 0 interest, but other apple products as well. For Android users i’d recommend opening a credit card with a 0 intro APR bonus, there are plenty of options beyond that but those cost interest. Definitely thinking of going with Mint because I honestly don’t use all the features that come with T-Mobile, but I do like that T-Mobile is the cheapest big brand/priority network.
I just switched to Mint Mobile a couple weeks ago and have enjoyed it so far. I didn't even need the extras from Verizon. I'm happy with this so far. P.S. Great video!
How much of the EXTRAs have you been sold (with the exception of say phone insurance....) that have been a waste.. you get "used to them" but don't miss them really...
I recently switched to mint but after a week or two I noticed people can't hear me when they call or when I call them. If I use Skype or messenger the call is fine.... Not sure how to fix this. Anyone experience it?
Thanks for the review/feedback... I have been thinking about switching, so that's why I am watching your video (thumbs up, by the way).... I will assume straight away that expecting the same service and quality of a big carrier when you're paying $15/$20 per month should be dismissed. Call quality being equal or similar is great, but I suppose data is the real name of the game. Besides, I hardly make phone calls anymore. I honestly can't even remember the last phone call I had...My dentist, maybe??? Anyway, data is where it's at and if Deadpool can at least keep up, it's worth considering. The thing for me is that I've been with Verizon since 2002 and I have never been dissatisfied with the service. It's a huge network, there have been no issues and my bill is extremely reasonable. Food for thought, my friend.... I appreciate the insight.
First thing I noticed after switching from T-Mobile to mint is it seemed like I went through data twice as fast. After a week I almost hit my entire 10 GB allotment. My wife experienced the same thing and she's pissed. Our web activities didn't suddenly change.
That’s legit, there’s typically settings that you can view to check on your device what has been using data. I would definitely check to see what’s going on. Also I know T-Mobile used to offer certain usage not to count against data for certain plans a while back…not sure if it still applies but I.e. 480p and music streaming previously didn’t count against data where with mint it does
Hi, do you think you could do a review on Metro by TMobile? I like the way you explain things, this was a short video and very straight to the point(s)
I've been with Metro for over 10 years. I've never had an issue with connectivity but I am getting tired if them. Their customer service is trash and they always find ways to stiff you if you try swapping your sim card to another phone.
@@DanYellowZena Good to know. I’ll have to look into that and ask Q’s. I know some people with metro and apparently they’re paying way less than anybody else with no issues on connectivity and coverage. Thanks!
@@iGigiRocks Don't get me wrong, their value is great. I pay 60 a month for unlimited text and internet and all that. It USED to be very easy to swap SIM cards to other phones but now, when you try to do it through the website they'll say "IMEI not found" and it seems to be the case with almost every phone I tried. Then they'll want you to go to a Metro PCS headquarters store or carrier and they'll charge up to 15-30 bucks for the service of swapping a SIM card. I knew it was bullshit and it was confirmed from my friend who used to work at Metro a few years ago. She told me that they'll purposely say that your phone isn't being recognized or that it's "Black listed" just so that they can charge for "activating" your phone. Absolutely bogus. Again, this is just my experience. The service you get is great. I've been around the country, Canada and Mexico and had no issues connecting anywhere I went. Their service is much better than ever. And there's no contract, so that's always a big win for me. Their customer service on the other end, I can't recommend. Trash.

So how is it?
It’s about to be 12 months again you still renew?
Mr. Dk, how is it so far? I'm interested and would like to know if it was good enough to renew.
1:47 Make sure you don’t cancel your old phone service before you port because you might lose your number. Just follow the porting process from your new provider (this works for all of them) and your old provider should auto cancel.
Would you happen to know if it has to be a active line though?(not connected) phone # is still under my name.
Nice
So where do you buy a kit though?
I just switched from cricket yesterday. Glad I still had my cricket line on because I wanted my old number still. It was also pretty easy to do.

Definitely,Smart Move.
I know, I saw one of their commercials during the Super Bowl a couple of years ago.
Did you lose everything in your phone like calendar and contacts and stuff?

@@jprobe how is mint mobile is it fast
It makes you wonder why people are paying $100/month for their phone plans...
@@AdultingShouldntSuck I used to pay about that price with Verizon. Switching to mint was a very good move.
The irony is many towers are still owned by a third party, like Crown Castle International. So in many instances you won't be using a competitors tower.

I switched from T-Mobile to Mint because of their crappy service and I was throttled at 500mb despite being on ultimated data plan. So far I have not had any issue with Mint. However, based on what you told us about the awesome Mint's no track policy makes it even sweeter for people who are concerned about privacy.
They track it, they just don't share it with the end user...
T-Mobile is spotty coverage is nothing but issue’s.
You know mint is TMobile towers right ? 😂
What does the track policy mean?
Or iCloud if you have apple, I think
I’m feeling a sales pitch but I’m going to watch the rest of it.
wasnt a sales pitch- was giving you info that MINT doesn't ESPECIALLY about the misleading REAL cost of the service. it is NEVER 15$/month after the 'hook' of the first 3 months.

That’s fantastic, thank you for sharing. sounds like the right decision for me.

Android has a data tracking feature that shows you where all of your data goes like what you mentioned in the video.
If these are the only items you found as "issues" then I'd say a Mint Mobile is fantastic. My Google pixel already tracks data and battery usage by app so problem solved on that item. Thank you for posting a super helpful review of your experience!
Yes!!!! I like your mindset!
Awesome!
T-Mobile offers a $15/mo prepaid plan with 2GB data.
I love this!
how do you like your s20 FE? making calls, receiving calls etc. what pro's and con's besides phone calls? this is one of the phones i might get.
My friend is using Mint but it’s very easy to burn through 35GB since Mint is his primary ISP as he doesn’t have WiFi at home. He’s considering switching to Visible. For $40 truly unlimited data with tethering is a great deal. The price drops to $25 with Party Pay.
It's easy to burn through if you do absolutely nothing all day but spend time on your phone . I don't get how you people do that
@@lyriclanguages3780 problem is that with LTE and 5G it's not that hard to burn through 35GB of that. Especially if it includes 4K/HD videos. I don't know why someone would care about 4K or even 1080p on their phones but when they do it an hour long show will easily burn through 3 to 4 gigs.
How slow is the data after 35g cap?
With samsung, you can back up messages and call history with samsung cloud.
Interesting

Do we need to call T-Mobile to cancel? Or do we just purchase Mint and port and it will automatically cancel? Thank you
Great question: You won't need to call T-Mobile to cancel. But you would need to have your porting pin which you can get from T-Mobile if you don't have it. If you do cancel, you "may" lose your number. Porting automatically cancels out the old number

I’d love to switch but I have great coverage in the mountains of Idaho with Verizon. BUT I’m also tired of a $79 per month from them.

I want to use 4G whenever it's available? Can I expect to do that with this service? How is 5G?
I haven’t used 5g on the service only 4G lte and it’s mostly fine. Once in a while depriortization occurs
Question, does mint mobile have any opportunity to make improvements? Or do you feel like they've as of now achieved cell service optimal status?
Ok
I don't think mint mobile is perfect and there are definitely more features that can be added. Its not a knock like the service is bad, it's just an unbiased look at the service
@@evertonsway I can agree with that. It's not perfect, but it does good for most people
I've been with them since May 2020, thrilled with the service and value.
Great video! I’ve been using Mint Mobile since 2017, and I am extremely happy with it. I currently have the 8GB 12 month plan and essentially pay $20 per month. I also love how they include mobile hotspot and 5G at no additional cost. Now, I’ve had zero experience with using the major carriers, but this one works just fine for me 😃
Yeah it's a really good service. Saves a ton, 95% of everything I care about is covered
Any issues with sending and receiving photos or video to phone numbers?
@@diamondhead5432101 I’ve had zero issues with sending videos and images via sms in the past years.
What is the data speed after 8GB of hign-speed data?
Been trying for 2 days to trans my number.
At first poor service call and cut off from call.
Then I found I made an error with my PIN.

Carry around 2 fn SIM cards?
Can't comment on the wireless service cause it's not complete. However their customer service : 1 Do not speak ckear English.
2 Don't seem to know WTF they are doing.

service pricing is so competitive these days it only makes sense to go with mint mobile if you do not need unlimited data. If you are fine with data caps or can work around what they offer than I think Mint Mobile is a great option.
Totally agree
Great video. Just got my Mint Sim card and am hesitant to install it. It's all new to me, so this answered some questions. Thanks.

I pay $45., a month for full unlimited with ATT on my friends family plan. I use an iPhone 8 as of 8-2021. I financed my iPhone 8 thru ATT on my friends family plan.
Mint mobile is great. I bought a year of unlimited, so that's done for 2021.

How does Mont handle taxes and fees? I don't think they are included in their cut rate plan pricing? Trying to determine how much additional cost I'd see on top of the monthly plan charge.
Fees and Taxes are not included into the plan, on the unlimited plan for 12 months- its about $25 worth of fees and taxes
That’s so awesome!
Please keep in mind that Finland is geographically 29 times smaller than the USA. Not an excuse for crazy pricing, but a contributing factor.
You do know it's is astronomically more expensive to give good coverage in the US ? A country the size of all of Europe?
Or u can just save money and only buy things u can actually afford
@@zloungeact Yeah paying cash is the only way to go for me

I’m using them. Calls drop in areas. They don’t have a lot of towers apparently on the map for me.
Thank-You! So I don’t have to get my phone unlocked? If my phone is T-Mobile
Omg, thank you so much for the info. We’re going to switch from T-mobile too😜
Awesome. You'll absolutely LOVE the savings!
480p and music streaming previously didn’t count against data where with mint it does
Like wise - apples to apples, same usage as before. They seem to count data differently.
Hi, do you think you could do a review on Metro by TMobile? I like the way you explain things, this was a short video and very straight to the point(s)
I am actually very interested in metro. I am going to look into it and see if I can make it work with the channel. Thank you for your comment!
@@evertonsway Awesome, thanks!
