    Thanks for this…tempted by the Zs80 but almost impossible to find. May go with the Hx99. Looking for a good zoom for hiking..for some decent video and the occasional photo.

      Small cameras are getting less and less good luck.

      How I wished I pulled the trigger on that zs80/ tZ95 purchase earlier on... Now I can't find it anywhere!

    Your analysis is always interesting, and I enjoy your thoughts for a small camera and the comparison. I bought a barely used Panasonic zs50 with 3 batteries on ebay about 3 years ago, and while it's a little older than the zs80, I love it. It's really nice for the size, and price and I love having a tiny little camera with its field of view range, especially when I want something for my pocket, hiking, travel, or even just walking around, or even as a backup option. I think you're spot on that any of these cameras are pretty good for a small option and your chart is super helpful!!

      Kary, always nice to hear from you ! Hope your zs50 lasts a long time. Thanks again...

    Thank you for this, exactly what I needed as I wanted a compact with a good zoom. Sometimes I see wildlife on walks and would like closer shots. The phone camera is great for most things but not that, from what I've seen 30x Optical Zoom should make a difference. Yes there's certainly not many of these about, got a panasonic SZ80 used with 3 batteries included. Confusingly branded as as TZ95 here in the UK.

    Thank you so much. A small camera for wildlife is perfect for me. I wish there were more real photos taken by those cameras in the video.

    Outstanding comparison review. You've hit on all the key points. Really a shame these long zoom point and shoots won"t be around much longer. I've read that the panorama function on the Panasonic is very good. Have you tried using it?

    • @MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE

      i have not tried the panorama function. I mainly use it just for wildlife.. These can be good really cameras and if they improved them it be fantastic.

    Hi if you wanted to take pics of birds in flight in trees,nest,insects and vegetables.Which one would you choosefrom the cameras you talked about .I in a community garden and take alot of pics.I have Nikon P1000,Canon SX740 and Sony RX100 III.The Sony has very little some.I think it is the best of all three for macro.How do you readjust the focus on the canon 740.it seems a little off.

    • @MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE
      @MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE  Год назад +2

      Whoa.. Birds in flight on a Bridge camera / point and shoot is tough. It can be done but not really recommended for these cameras. I can do it with all of them and its going to take practice and know how. That being said the HX99 is the fast focus system out there of these cameras, still birds in flight will not be easy. The canon focus, SHOULD focus accuratly test it and see, there is manual focus but I would not suggest that as a go to feature. Test the canon against static objects, turn off noise correction, turn off mutli-shot and shoot a single frame against a static object with good shutter speed. I noticed cannon images are softer if it is in multi high speed shot mode vs single shot. Try it out but if regular focus is not working ... Id be upset.

    Nice video!
    Do you know if there will be any successor camera of P1000 ?
    It's available for $700 new in my country but I dont want to buy 6 year old camera if an updated camera is coming.
    Do you know where to look for such info?

    Thanks for your video! Super helpful. Have you ever tried the Lumix ZS200D? It's also compact but has a 1 in sensor and 15x zoom (while not a great zoom, I am curious if the image quality difference is "worth it"). Part of me doubts that it's fast enough for wildlife, but I am unable to find concrete info

    • @MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE
      @MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE  Год назад +2

      Not yet! I find just me that I need at least 600mm more like 800mm or more for birding. I can use 360mm for larger animals but those are harder to get in contact with such as deer and bison. So the 1 inch sensor would be nice I find that the zoom is lacking a bit for an all a rounder wildlife setup.

    Thanks for the review!! In your opinion, which one would be best for portrait pictures? I want a camera that focuses quickly to avoid blurry pictures in normal lighting and low light. Found a few used cameras and canon is offering the best price... but not sure if it's worth spending a bit more for the hx99. Thoughts?

    • @MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE
      @MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE  Год назад +1

      Sony & Canon both focus faster. Sony feels faster but Canon is not that bad. If you have to go with a point and shoot id say 1 of those 2 cameras. Nikon and Panasonic are a bit slower... The canon lenses is a little better but the sony has the viewfinder. See what you need but they are pretty close.

    Stafford, what is your opinion of the sony HX400V vs the Sony hx99. I would like to get the Panasonic sz80 but cannot find new ones for sale. I have large hands and like the EVF built in so, what do you think about the sony HX400V? Thanks for your reviews.

      Well if I am correct it was release back in 2014 right ? Seems kind of older camera might be other choices not sure what your specs / or needs are. Also i never shot that camera.

      Thank you sir for your prompt and honest reply. Yes, it is an older camera
      and thus probably not up to par with the newer models. I have other Sony
      products so maybe I will lean toward the Sony in this case.. Thanks again for your reply. @@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE
