I’ll never understand why your videos don’t get more engagement-it’s beautiful 😮 both the painting, as much as having such a peaceful and clear window into how a true artist’s work can come together ❤ simply a joy to watch! And to have playing while I’m roughing out ideas for a few hopeful projects of my own. Feel free to put out just as many of these kinds of videos as you can/want lol seriously, nothing is so soothing and inspiring while working in my little budding maker-studio space at home than having this video and it’s lovely music playing while I work 😊

Lovely demonstration, thank you for allowing us to watch! What are you painting on in this demo? Looks too
Smooth to be canvas. I’m just beginning to use oil paints! 💕

Thank you! Here I’m painting on panel, specifically Ampersand Gessobord. I like using it for smaller paintings because it has less texture than canvas.

I struggle with doing loose painting that looks as precise as yours. Guess I'll keep on going. Thank you it's lovely. 😁🎨🖌️

Christina, may I know how you are able to put layers on top of more layers? Is the secret a medium? When I use straight paint, the layer I put on top lifts or pushes aside the layers underneath.

For sure, so generally when painting wet-on-wet, I start with dark, transparent colors first and layer the light, opaque colors on top. I find when I do that, the colors don’t mix much. I also load more paint onto my brush when I get to the lighter colors, so the paint is extra thick. I generally don’t use medium, but sometimes I thin the first dark layer with a bit of gamsol. Hope this helps!

The layering in this is so nice! I really struggle with that so this is helpful to watch someone else do it. Could I know the easel / kit that you're using to paint outside and if you would recommend it?

Thank you! Sometimes I use a bit of gamsol at the beginning to thin out the darker layers :)
