Excellent video as always WOBO but hey you forgot one key statistic of the DMR. It's about 3 kgs in mass, even with a scope and a large magazine. That makes it very competitive with options such as the SK or the LAR, let alone the SVD.
I really wish the LAR's bullet speed wasn't so unrealistically nerfed. No FAL would ever shoot a .308 bullet that slow in real life. They should focus on realism a little more and let the rarity balance out the guns, instead of messing with their performance.
I can't deny it's more balanced this way. But I think that DayZ shouldn't be a game about balance, especially not if it sacrifices realism. All guns are deadly anyway, it doesn't really matter if one is slightly better than the other, I just want realism in DayZ, there are other games for aggressive balancing at the cost of realism (PUBG and such)@@WOBO

Don’t cry about realism being sacrificed with a difference in bullet velocity when there’s other stuff like that in game, especially under the guise of “don’t worry about game balance, muh realism”
This is even more true with the addition of the sv-98, it’s a bolt action sniper that doesn’t have a good sniper optic in the game, the Acog 6x is impossible to find and isn’t even that good
Absolutely, but, only for certain playstyles that are focused around stealth. I feel that the DMR is more of a "total warfare combat zone" weapon than the SVD.
@@sk8ermGs Toxic zones are pretty fun if you can manage to set up a base where you can leave your hazmat, and only take it along when you get your car to the toxic zone. Besides, they dynamic toxic zones also push the player to change their regular looting route, discovering new areas.
I feel like there's another point here not talked about. The SVD is also much easier to find ammo for. You can find way more 54r than you can 308 in game from my experience, especially in civilian spawns
7.62x54r only has two weapons in it also not giving players a huge reason to loot lots of it like with .308 that has many guns, its only got the SVD which is rare and now a gas zone gun or the mosin which everyone seems to preferer the M70 in .308 over it due to the hunting optic.
The fact you can put an acog scope on the DMR to me makes it better than the SVD. I never liked the PSO-1 scopes and if you go to iron sights with them you can't see anything through them.
With DMR I think they give a purpouse for the Acog and 6x ACOG. You could use those scopes on a Pioneer and M4, but in really no one used that in M4 and the Pioneer it's not a late game sniper. You could use them in LAR too, but it is a very rare weapon

Such a good gun but I'm honestly disappointed that it doesn't take a metal suppressor to make it the counterpart to the VSD. No 308 with a suppressor option is such an oversight imo.
Well, if it had a suppressor i feel as if it would surpass the SVD coz of its option to have a 20 round mag, so its either you pick the M17 and have an extra 10 rounds and a better optic i would say or the SVD for a suppressor and alil higher damage
As a ex Arma 2 dayz player the m14 was my favorite rifle also i kinda think its bs that you cant use the hunting scope on the m14 since it is using a hunting caliber round/cartridge also am i the only one that thinks they should re-add the stripper clips for the sks?
I think It could of been buffed a little bit, but also the SVD to be buffed with them both being maybe rarer. I do like the idea of having weapons which are like ooooh snap you found a "insert gun name". Where I don't feel like any gun... gives the feel at the moment.
I think it is a huge miss to not allow the DMR to take the western style metal suppressor. I also wish it would take the hunting scope as well. that would make it live up to its designation DMR = designated marksman rifle.
Now imagine if they added the stripper clips for the sks and Mosin in again. I think the sks would be a serious contender again just because your reload speed would go up.

Down side would be not being able to use them with the PU attached, although with how far back the PU mounts to the sks I don't see why they wouldn't work. Definitely would make the sks the best if not one of the best midrange battle rifles. Idk how they'd implement them, if it would be a separate ammo type (clipped 7.62x39mm) or if the stripper clip would be a separate consumable that you combine with ammo.
Now I just think we need a NATO long range scope in the game, make it super rare ofcourse but it would be sick for this gun aswell as the FAL and Pioneer.
When it comes to Vanilla, I think the LAR is the best one because of its power and auto fire, which is good in CQC situations. After that, I'd prefer the AKM, because of the drum mag. But, I do recognize that the M4A1's RPM is way higher, and might be the weapon of choice. But, the LAR is still better than any other weapon. I mean, the shotguns seems broken right now. But in a CQ siutuation, i think the vaiga with buckshots would be the best weapon of choice.
I like the LAR but it’s got too much Recoil for me to use in CQC situations. I haven’t yet mastered the recoil and I have 3k hours but I prefer the AUR-AX. The Burst fire makes sure you drop the target at a range of distances.
It would be nice to have the range to KO a plate wearing player in one shot listed as a stat in the videos :) That is the number one stat I look at with any gun. How much damage an unarmored player takes I do not care about, since almost all long guns instakill, or insta KO and almost kill in one shot. Most geared players wear plates.

They go through the effort for all these animations. But dont understand an ejector. A bar that throws the round out of the chamber when the bolt goes back.
Pretty disappointed that there's no hunting optic or metal suppressor option for the DMR. No real reason to pick it over the SVD in my opinion. Pretty much a reskin FAL, and I already passed that up for suppressed SVD. I wish the DEVs would stop being so afraid to add weapons that are fundamentally better than others. There's no reason why we shouldn't have a long-range, silent semi-auto sniper system.
I still think the svd beats out the dmr for the plain fact of suppressor compatibility. Even being limited to 4x magnification maximum and 10 rounds ive never needed more than that unless I'm trying for ridiculous shots where it would still make more sense to move up first.

LAR had fullauto, a 20 round mag, and was relatively small compared to the svd with its 10 round mag, semi-auto only, and looking like a mobile green mountain tower when on your back. I would say "caliber compatibility" but the fact the normalized surpessor is based on the TGP-A suppressor meant for the AK-74 and it's 5.45mm projectile I don't see how it can be an excuse. For these matters alone I think the dmr should have suppressor compatibility, maybe at the cost of the 20 round magazine?
Couple things, One, where's our Harris bipod? It literally comes on the M14 DMR in field use. Secondly, where's the specific OPS Inc Suppressor that usually will be fitted when needed? Lastly, where's our speed loaders and clips at? The SKS specifically (as well as the Mosin, Magnum, ECT) are missing their stripper clips and moon clips for quicker reloading....we USED to have them, why haven't they returned them like they said they would?
@@taylormay9938 no, it's the M14 DMR, not the M21 firstly, secondly, we used to have bipods, the Atlas, it was removed as like damn near everything we used to have, during the renderer swap and it was explained to us that everything we used to have, and everything shown to us on both the official DevBlog and on the official Trello Board, would be given to us "by the time DayZ leaves beta and hits stable 1.0".... and to date, we're missing a hell of a lot, I mean, in just "weapons", we're still missing over 20. There's actually a few bipods in the game but haven't been released to us, the Atlas, the RPG-7's bipod, and the M249's specific bipod. The devs need to remember that they need to return these items as promised, and the items shown to us to be coming "by stable" and never have yet.... like the Bumblebee airplane, Multicar, Little Bird, RPG-7, RAK, Camo Net Tent.... there's a long list.... and if they would have been giving us back our stuff at a few things each patch, including those "only bug fixing" patches, we'd have all our stuff back by now, and they could've given us end game content.... it's ridiculous both Rust and Scum have all the stuff, and we get nothing...they were literally copies of DayZ, and they're doing it better. 🙄
@@johnnygeorgopoulos4072 The M14 is exclusively select fire. This DMR and the M21 are semi auto only. Also, the adjustable cheek pad is standard on the M21, but not the M14. I was just telling my buddy earlier I wish they would add a mount option for rails and walls. It's a pretty logical and simple feature for realism, just as bipods would be. I feel like they are intentionally attempting to simply make sniping more difficult.
@@taylormay9938 I think you're getting the two models of effectively the same rifle confused, the one that's always been in DayZ, since DayZ Mod (Arma 2) and now in SA Experimental, is the M14 DMR, it's semiautomatic only, and has the adjustable cheek. The M21 is, just like the DMR, based off the M14, but the DMR is Marines, the M21 and XM21 are Army, the DMR has the green stock/furniture, the XM21 has wood, the M21 fiberglass....but the DMR is definitely the model that's always been in DayZ, and is now being returned (minus the bipod).
Great Video. I am happy for this update but the way they programmed the player putting a bullet in the chamber on the M14 really bugs me. I pray I won't have to single shot this gun.
I have found it without scope, and optic will not attach without adapter. But where6the hell I can find this adapter/mount, I mean not even trader on modded server is selling it.
As someone who goes out of his way to get an LAR in Vanilla or the M14 in modded servers, I'm glad for this new variant to be a very capable semi-auto rifle that has insane accuracy with insane power. I appreciate it being treated like the "American" high powered sniper variant of the VSD. I think the DMR will by far be more applicable than the VSD, with American optics and the 20 round clip making it more versatile and damaging within 100-400 meters.
That’s because it used a Starlight night vision or an ART II scope, the latter for daylight use and the former for night, look up “M14 starlight scope”
The dmr is the biological child of sks and lar, but lar abandoned dmr at birth. Svd eventually became dmrs stepparent, and dmr wanted to be like svd when it grew up.
The lar cant one Hit ko platecarriers while the dmr can, this alone makes the lar Just way worse. Dont know why they Made it Harder to find than many better guns

SKS is the workhorse of all the guns in the game. easy to find, easy to find ammo, easy tom find scope and the iron sights are the best in game imo.

The Great thing about the DMR from the A2 mod was it was the only sniper that your NVG would work with.

Went to nwaf on experimental and a found like atleast 5 or more 20 rounders with the gun being rare I think the mags are pretty common
experimental is for testing not for treasure hunt, thats why the spawns are much higher - so you can test them duh.

Well, this is an M21, for one. But they don't utilize bipods at all in DayZ. Would be a sweet attachment to find for certain guns, though.

The devs need to remember that they need to return these items as promised, and the items shown to us to be coming "by stable" and never have yet.... like the Bumblebee airplane, Multicar, Little Bird, RPG-7, RAK, Camo Net Tent.... there's a long list.... and if they would have been giving us back our stuff at a few things each patch, including those "only bug fixing" patches, we'd have all our stuff back by now, and they could've given us end game content.... it's ridiculous both Rust and Scum have all the stuff, and we get nothing...they were literally copies of DayZ, and they're doing it better. 🙄
@@johnnygeorgopoulos4072 The M14 is exclusively select fire. This DMR and the M21 are semi auto only. Also, the adjustable cheek pad is standard on the M21, but not the M14.
I was just telling my buddy earlier I wish they would add a mount option for rails and walls. It's a pretty logical and simple feature for realism, just as bipods would be. I feel like they are intentionally attempting to simply make sniping more difficult.
@@taylormay9938 I think you're getting the two models of effectively the same rifle confused, the one that's always been in DayZ, since DayZ Mod (Arma 2) and now in SA Experimental, is the M14 DMR, it's semiautomatic only, and has the adjustable cheek. The M21 is, just like the DMR, based off the M14, but the DMR is Marines, the M21 and XM21 are Army, the DMR has the green stock/furniture, the XM21 has wood, the M21 fiberglass....but the DMR is definitely the model that's always been in DayZ, and is now being returned (minus the bipod).
We also needs bipods for the Famas and Pioneer.

Great Video. I am happy for this update but the way they programmed the player putting a bullet in the chamber on the M14 really bugs me. I pray I won't have to single shot this gun.

I have found it without scope, and optic will not attach without adapter. But where6the hell I can find this adapter/mount, I mean not even trader on modded server is selling it.

As someone who goes out of his way to get an LAR in Vanilla or the M14 in modded servers, I'm glad for this new variant to be a very capable semi-auto rifle that has insane accuracy with insane power.
I appreciate it being treated like the "American" high powered sniper variant of the VSD.
I think the DMR will by far be more applicable than the VSD, with American optics and the 20 round clip making it more versatile and damaging within 100-400 meters.

That’s because it used a Starlight night vision or an ART II scope, the latter for daylight use and the former for night, look up “M14 starlight scope”

The dmr is the biological child of sks and lar, but lar abandoned dmr at birth. Svd eventually became dmrs stepparent, and dmr wanted to be like svd when it grew up.

The lar cant one Hit ko platecarriers while the dmr can, this alone makes the lar Just way worse. Dont know why they Made it Harder to find than many better guns
