    Even if you don't film yourself watching it, you should really watch the entire Inside special. Bo made the entire special by himself during covid and its truly remarkable to watch.

    It's a shame reactors aren't able to watch "Are You Happy?" with the original video. The fact that Bo walks off stage after "Can't Handle This", directly into that little room by himself, and it's the exact same room the entirety of "Inside" takes place in 5 years later, is mind-blowing, and a lot of reactors aren't getting to see that.

    4:40 - This just made me think of a quote ... “It's so hard to forget pain, but it's even harder to remember sweetness. We have no scar to show for happiness. We learn so little from peace.”

    The my dad was right line I believe he is saying his dad told him seeking happiness is not what you want, it is wellness, contentment, or fulfillment. Happiness is fleeting and a moment, while the others are able to Carry you through the hard times.

    I think the "oh god my dad was right" stems from either of two conversations, one being when a young person fights with their parents about something they want to do with their life and says "don't you want me to be happy?" My mom would always say "I want more for you than just that, moments of happiness are temporary, I want you to have something that lasts". Or, when a child fights so hard for something that feels out of reach, and their parent denies them, saying "you wouldn't even know what to do if you had it, you just dont like /not/ having it"

    Just today I was thinking “Tom hasn’t done any Bo for a while” and here you are! Always here for a bit of Bo!
    You need to dedicate an hour and watch the ‘Inside’ special, it’s life changing

    Definitely more Bo. He's an amazing artist and while also being funny, is an honest artist.

    I have chronic health issues, so does my dad and during covid my life changed very little. So how others react kind of validated the way i felt about my life becoming so insular & how hard it is to go out and meet people when you cant work, have an autoimmune disorder, etc.
    Bo touches my brain in so many ways; always has, before and after my illness changed my life so severely.

    Yessss more Bo! Thanks for another amazing video Tom. Unfortunately, life got in the way these last couple months and I haven't been up to date with your videos, but I'm glad to return to Bo, he is a true artist, I love everything he does. :)

    Inside is truly special. It helped me process so many things. I think I may have watched the entire thing at least 3 times over. You should react to the rest of the special song by song or do the whole thing at once

    I will admit, when life is going well, when life is feeling good, when I'm feeling...happy, I cannot shake the anxiety of it. Clearly, in my head, if things are going and feeling well, I feel as if I am about to be hit by an 18-wheeler of shit hitting the fan. Being happy just makes me afraid of the inevitable storm of everything but happy. This is mainly because life has proven it so. It's scary.

    This was the last song of his Make Happy special, right after the Kanye Rant.

    I think his dad said that a life where you are always happy isn't really happy, you wouldn't want it.

    Something you dont really see in this video is that in the full show its some seconds longer where you see him going out into the sun to meet his girlfriend/dog.

      Also I dont remember anything specifically from Make Happy, but in his earlier works he has mentioned multiple times that his dad (or atleast some kind of dad character) isnt very supportive of his choice in career. So in addition with his line asking about whether his mom is happy that he is a sucess, I can see it being about how his dad was right in not encouraging it.

    Are you happy is so good but gets buried by the epic song Can't Handle this which is before this. But I love this song.

    The one to zero thing is interesting
    There's no middle ground allowed, you aren't okay, or content, you're only allowed to be happy or not in this world
    We know that isn't true,

    Inside is less of a comedy special and more of a character study of himself (still with plenty of comedy in there)

    sucks sorta, but like his wife and baby mama. she is like 25years older than he was when they married at bo at 19ish. but just after inside and the next 2 years he divorced her and started dating a younger girl. she was his age so not that creepy, but his wife and baby mama from the "Inside" special. i just want bo too be happy

      @lucaacatalepsy9725 Год назад

      i can't understand what you're trying to say with the ages and anything about anyone being creepy or unhappy. he's from 1990 so he was 23 when he first started dating his first partner and almost 10 years later his second and he nor his ex ever said that they had children or if their relationship was bad. he has been outspoken about his mental health and that was the reason he has struggled, not any unconfirmed private details

    Honest question: why do people not want to be happy? Because they don’t think they deserve it? Because of bitterness? Or is it because (to quote Ren in his song Chalk Outlines) “I’m scared of being okay, ‘cause all things change?”
    I didn’t have the most secure childhood, but I very much saw those around me dust themselves off and get on with things. I don’t know if that’s why I stay, overall, a happy person (even when things suck), but I find aversive to happiness very sad and strange.

    • @milliegoodwin5389
      @milliegoodwin5389 Год назад

      There are definitely people who don't feel like they deserve it, or that there's no point in being happy because something bad always comes along
      It's sad

    • @lucaacatalepsy9725
      @lucaacatalepsy9725 Год назад

      "happy" is not the same as contentness and safety, the sense of "happy" is comparable to a short state of very positive emotion, like chasing a high. life in reality is full of ups and downs and **neutrals**, too often people see life in black and white, happy or unhappy, but the brief upswing of happy as a goal is not as fulfilling long-term as finding a balanced middle. if someone isnt looking to be happy, there is plenty other positive things they can be, "not happy" is not equivalent to bad/unhappy/sad, things are not that black and white, so maybe some of the more mature adults have just chosen to have a different expectation and relationship to the word (saying this as im 23 so mature isnt specifically about age but more attitude imo)

      He already did both of those songs, and the point of this video was to react to the last song from Make Happy and the first from Inside. The bookends of his hiatus.
