I’m thinking about buying one of these. I love how you do just about everything that could happen to you with the kayak! I would love to see how it sails!
I’m in my 60’s now and my pro angler is getting heavier and heavier…looks like a wet ride, other than that, it might be my next kayak… I look forward to more videos…thanks Nick
I'm 74 and I just traded in my PA 360 for one and love it so easy, and very stable, fast. Have the H rails on it and the Hobie crate I can carrie 6 rods.
I'll be in Navarre in a few weeks. Hope to take out the Lynx. If the waves don't get crazy. All the videos show it smooth. Every time I visit family, the panhandle is rough waters. I wind up using the Lynx to tow wife's paddle board up various Florida rivers and springs or to see key islands.
That was a cool video. It did great in the small surf. I have no doubt this will perform great inshore. Looking forward to all the test your gonna put it through. Tight lines man
I will be interested to see the next couple videos with it rigged out. Rod holders, bait bucket, fish bag etc. I orginally saw this and never even thought twice about it. Now I'm almost thinking it may be perfect. I come to the gulf a couple times a year and bring my compass. This is lighter and seems perfect. I am not lauching in the rougher surf anyway. Keep up the great videos. Been following you a while. Thanks
great video. Looks like a great boat. Dude you should check this bag out. It's cheap waterproof and it looks like it would slide in under the lynx seat! Look up- Ozark trail 40 liter boat bag. I use a similar bag when I fish off my revo 13 in the surf. It solved all of my lack of storage issues on my revo. Plus these types of bags float even with 20 lbs of jigs in them!
Wow I’m impressed. Doesn’t look like a bad option esp since some don’t launch outback or predators through big surf anyways. The light weight sure would make the drag from the lots much easier.
But that’s the point of these, they are made for water that IS glass smooth. I hope someone makes a vid about actual fishing in actual rough-ish sea conditions with actual 4-5 ft waves. I also hope he has a couple of Outbacks around him when the time for rescue comes :):)
This is funny, I stayed at Walton Beach like a month ago for vacation, water does look familiar. A couple of guys took their PA out to some wreck a mile out for some nice red snappers.
why is the drive in lol...great to see it handle some light surf..I have yet to take mine in the open ocean, only in the bay with boat wakes. I am loving it!
the do the same when launching, but when i come back in i take it out, the surf kicks up sand into the chain of the drive..like you seen in the rudder, thats from a Outback maybe the Lynx isnt as bad. Still great to see somebody launch it..gives me motive to get out there and try it...I need the H Rails first so I can mount all my gear. @@NavarreKayakFishing
Hey nick! I finally try out hobie lynx it was a rental and turning and standing was amazing. But pedaling was not you can hear noise the harder pushed on 180drive and my legs got really burn out dosnt seem that fast is that normal?
Pedaling the Lynx is a completely different animal then something like the PDL system. The motion is a bit different and is tiring until you get use to it.
NKF I know what you’re referring to but the part of the bixpy that doesn’t fit is, and l can’t think of the name of it is but it’s the shroud that fits around the prop but there’s a replacement for it with squared sides that will allow it to fit l might be wrong but I just saw it on RUclips a couple of days ago!
That thing is awesome. I don't know if could walk into a kayak shop and buy that over a bigwater for basically the same price. But its probably easier when you already have a bunch of bigwaters.
I have been eyeballing this for a couple of months. I think this would be ideal in the Texas Marsh. Just curious how stable it will be standing and sight fishing. I wish you had this a week ago. I would have loved to seen this in person. Look forward to more videos.
Hey i hope you’re good i wanna know what do you think I’m 5 feet and 8 inches and weight around 250 pounds do you recommend this kayak for me or Salty is the option for me ? The kayak must be lighter to put on the roof of my car
Yeah I'm sold brother. Thinking of purchasing those rear kid guards? Sorry for the incorrect nomenclature. Thank you again for the video bro though, I know you no longer have your Lynx. Tight lines!
What’s the verdict after 2 years? The good and the bad of this kayak? I’m from Milton and will be retiring less than 25 min up hwy 87S from Navarre in 4 years. Looking at one of these now on FB marketplace for me to troll for salmon with in WA, before retiring back home to fish blackwater bay with and maybe hit some of the close in wrecks with.
I think he moved on to bigger, heavier, propeller drive fishing kayaks. I need the kick up feature of the Mirage drive and its ability to fold up against the hull, but still propel the kayak, in the shallows. He doesn't have any obstacles for his propeller kayaks to hit when off shore so he can use the instant reverse ability of the prop. Upside it is light. Down side is it gets dented up easier. The Lynx is a foam fiberglass surf board in its construction. The final vacuum form plastic coating helps but it can't take the beating a plastic kayak can. However, the Lynx is as easy to epoxy repair as a surf board if you don't care how it looks afterwards. Also, the accessory H-rails on the side are impossible to find as production has been interrupted for years.
It seems to act like a paddle board and not a kayak in the "surf". I can't wait to hear your thoughts after you get it in some rollers and wind. The fins and rudder will act like small skags but not sure if it will track well or just get thrown around.
That looks awesome and I really like the way it handled. Not going to lie though, I was waiting for you to fall in. The jump in was close though. LOL!!!
The only real drawback I see is how the water flows over the bow. I get that it runs off easily with no sides but when fishing anything on the deck would be drenched and lost for that matter if not leashed. Otherwise it looks like a great unit. Love the light weight.
Ive been looking at the Hobie Revolution 13 and am wondering if you considered it and if so why you rejected it as your choice? It appears to be good in rough water and quick.
Nice video. It looks like fun. The predator is just too heavy for the beach. For me anyway. Be interested in how it does with boat wakes. Definitely a yak for the minimalist .
I do not think Hobie designed the Lynx for ocean fishing. The fact that this guy here is good enough to make the Lynx work in the sea does not mean everyone should try his hand at ocean fishing on a Lynx. I for once will keep taking out the Outback for sea fishing and keep the Lynx for less challenging waters.
No worries Nick you still get a thumbs up from me. I will say looks a little to light. But I'm sure if you add all your gear on that will be more steadier than without your gear. Getting a little older on getting on the seat LOL!!! I'm a little slower getting on the seat as well hahaha. But again great video. Appreciate it
It looks like you sit higher off the Lynx than the Salty/Predator. Is that measurable? The perception of extra height makes me think it is less stable than the OTs.
Really good video on the Lynx. I watch you videos and appreciate the honest feedback ou provide, regardless of the brand. I was wondering, how easy or hard it would be if it flipped over with you to get it back onto the top. Did you test that off camera?
Another RUclipsr took it through larger breakers and noted that it handled the waves fine but punched through them rather than riding over. I’d say that’s to be expected, much like a surfboard. I love my Lynx but have only used it inland. Thanks for the video.
Nooo Nick Nooo, you got us all swagged out with Old Towns and Navarre accessories! 😫This just feels wrong! Navarre accessories go on Old Towns! Lol good stuff buddy we are waiting on the verdict.
Glad it’s looking good but if I’m a mile offshore and a squall kicks up rapidly like they can over here in Texas, I’m going to put my trust in the OT Predator.
The short body and the wide stance reminds me of the old Cobra Fish N Dive Kayak! ruclips.net/video/w4ZAhm9dRPk/видео.html I think you might need a drysuit when it gets cold!
I look forward to getting the Hobie Mirage Lynx offshore to catch some fish.
Nice video! Looks stable enough
👍
Stable enough without question. Hope you’re doing well, buddy.
No no no! Wrong boat bro! Just take out the Outback and be done with it :):)
I spent a long time in an Outback and caught a ton of great fish in one off of the beach. The Lynx is just as capable.
This is better then a movie premiere. Looking forward to more videos. :)
Such a great video. That is the best way to learn a new boat in the surf. Light surf and try different launches. Thanks!
Thanks for watching, Frank.

does that boat have a mast mount?
@@MikeJordanUnCamplicated Yes it does! You can use it for the sail or shade. ;)

The Lynx is so light that you can just lift the front. I never landed the PA or the Outback with the drive in. That’s way to risky haha

I bought the lynx going to splash it tomorrow thanks for help Nick
Very cool I’ve decided to pick one of these up only I’m going to replace the pedal drive with a Bixpi motor for trolling trout and bass here in Idaho!
I’ve looked at the Bixpy but it doesn’t fit in the drive console.

How does the lynx compare to pelican getaway I'm launching fr beach
Adam, I’ve haven’t spent anytime in the Pelican so I can’t compare the two.
The older people get the more they are going to like that light weight. I haven't used my hatches in years of kayak fishing. Who needs them.

James, I jump out and climb back in at the 15:15 mark.
The audio sounds stormy but the water didn't seem to be too challenging. I think that as a beginner, I would attempt this water.
Nothing challenging about it. In this area a slight west wind makes the beach a bit calmer then forecasted.

This is the best vid ive seen the rest are in puddles.
I like the open platform. Gotta Voodoo myself and only problem I ever have is in bad wind but don't like fishing in that anyway
Lynx or outback ? & why?
Two very different platforms in my opinion. If durability is a concern the Outback wins. If weight is the biggest concern the Lynx wins.
