  • Finally got some Aquila strings for this Martin baritone ukulele! Brand new, so settling in - both myself and the strings. Nevertheless, beautiful instrument! The tune is that old ukulele classic "On the Beach at Waikiki"

    @joezane Cheers, Joe!
    That be DGBE. Any other tunings you'd recommend?
    Do you think these large ukes will take metal strings?

    It's funny how you manage to make it sound like a soprano... well, like a "Wininboy played soprano", I should say... With more bass of course... Great!
    Any tenor one in the room?

    wonderful.
    what tuning did you go with?

    @wininboy I'm not sure. I'm a soprano man. But I know Glen Rose tunes his Bari in C like a low g soprano. He has a youtube channel if you search for him.
    I was wondering if you tuned yours to D...
    I suppose it might take metal strings, but then you should just get a sexy tenor guitar.

    @Youkkoul Geez, it's not a soprano, lemme tell you. These baritones are lazy animals by nature. But when played with enough punch, they add lots of zing.
    Funny you should mention, Youkkoul - my very first Martin uke was a tenor. That was one size I never really got used to?? The uke was always mocking me for not being good enough, if you know what I mean. So nowadays it is played by one of the other Winin' Boys. He gets more music out of it than I ever would!
    Great things, those Martin tenors.
