- The one Bad thing about Hunter x Hunter 2011, of course I'm not saying that 2011 was perfect however this one thing is handled in the worst way possible and it involves one of the most important characters in the series.

Kite didn’t appear in episode 1 and how they handled Ging leaving Gon and how why Gon wants to become a hunter with full context.
It’s obvious that the director of 2011 hates these 3 characters.
Yup, it was a weird choice to paint Ging from the start as a “Bad father” when in the manga it clearly states that ging didn’t abandon gon but was forced to leave him after aunt mito told him so and wouldn’t let gon go with him

@@TheHunterSociety To be fair Ging himself says “I chose my freedom over my parental duties towards you” in the recording he leaves for Gon. The reason Mito took Gon is because she knew Ging wasn’t gonna be responsible towards baby Gon, and also the reason Mito was able to take custody of Gon to begin with is probably because Ging didn’t fight back to have him.

there's also moments periodically throughout the manga until we get to the CA saga where Gon would bring up kite's name here & there between arcs.
just a reminder that, up until maybe recently, anime (when compared to manga) was a pretty niche medium for japan. these sort of things where they don't adapt things all that accurately kinda just goes to the wayside due to this & it makes more sense with that under consideration
I personally never felt a disconnection when watching the anime and getting introduced to Kite. I think it wasn’t as big of an issue as people on the internet make it out to be. I still saw Kite as a big brother from Gon’s perspective with how much time he spent with Ging and having had to find him on his own, so it felt natural enough without having the backstory.
I’ve heard critiques that the series has a slow start already, so watching Gon go off on his journey in episode 1 was paced well enough for me at least.
The thing is, Kite in the 2011 adaptation looked like a retcon. His introduction was terrible. In the manga and 1999 adaptation he's the one who kickstarted Gon's journey, making him look more like a role model to him, even if they didn't spend much time together. He's the reason Gon even knew his dad was alive and a Hunter, but in the 2011 anime, he's just another Razor. With that being said, I'll take the 2011 version over the 90s version anyday

Not really. Just that scene with Kite in episode 1 they removed. I love the 99 version better. But the 2011 version is still amazing
