The Performance Arcade 2023

From 22nd to 26th February 2023 Trustpower presented, The Performance Arcade - a beloved, free, award-winning summer festival of live art, music and performance that delights art enthusiasts, passers-by and visitors to Te Whanganui-a-Tara / Wellington, New Zealand every year.
The 2023 Arcade saw a floating theatre, live art karaoke, and a performance scattered across 15 LED screens. The festival was housed in its familiar village of shipping containers, but occupied a new site at Whairepo Lagoon and Odlin’s Plaza, while some events branched further afield and ventured into the surrounding landscape, a barge, an overbridge, and into Wellington City itself.
Audiences are welcomed to come down to Wellington Waterfront to enjoy Performance Art experiences, Music Series performances, a Fortune Favours pop-up bar, various food truck and beverage options and sporadic explosions of art over 8 days, 17-27 February 2022.
Attracting 60,000-90,000 visitors every year, The Performance Arcade is an innovative festival for adventurous encounters between artists and the public. Nestled into the unique landscape of Pōneke, the 2023 programme was curated around the kaupapa/theme hīkoi te whenua, journeys in our city and engaged with numerous sites around Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Fifteen installations and experiences from across Aotearoa and the World invited passers-by to look deeper and longer at this whenua, and to travel into its past and future dreams.
