Great summary! Ties the whole book up nicely. For those the like fishing the passages of Jake and Bill out fishing trout have amazing imagery and give you a feeling of peace and accomplishment; Bravo Hemingway!

Very good except Bill wasn’t gay. Do you remember the part where he and Jake are discussing Brett’s affair. Bill is shaving in the mirror and says why couldn’t she fall for this face? He was briefly attracted to Brett along with everyone else

You don’t necessarily need to think about symbolism in those terms. Think of it more as things you never articulated, not things you missed.

I'm not exactly sure, but if you like that, you would probably "The Four Seasons" by Antonio Vivaldi or some of his other violin concertos.

Earnest was really homophobic and sensitive about his manhoods image. Dude went as far as lying about fighting in both world wars. The book never outright says it but has slight hints

Maybe because he wasn’t really pursuing Edna? But he didn’t seem to be pursuing men either; he just seemed like a fun guy to party with lol

Did this guy really read this book. Fishing in southern France, NOT! They went fishing in Spain.
