That new rexes face is kinda too small. I like it better than the origonal rex but to me a rex waa alwaus a symbol of power not lean mean killing machine. As for the giga i think the new ones face is kinda goofy but his animations are clean af
Would be cool if they could be standalone additions rather than replacer as an ini option. Giga is 100% an improvement but I like both rexes for very different reasons. Also despite filling the same niche the newer Rex has a starkly different taming method which is ok but I like the old one cos sometimes simplicity is nice too. Don’t suppose anyone knows of another mod that is fairly lightweight, compatible with single player and good for adding OG Rex spawns back? Would be handy for other replacer type mods too…
@@miguelmunguiamendoza ah, as someone who has always preferred standalone (or mods with such ini options) I haven’t had much practice myself with spawn replacers etc. just a little experimenting back in ASE days. Basically I wish to make this standalone, even if I have to do the work on my end via replacing spawns/ using other mods since there isn’t an option built in (love everything else about the mod but this makes me sad). However I do find that the few replacers that I had tried in the past still use their own class/summon names, as in Paleo_Rex_Character_BP_C as opposed to standard Rex_character_bp_c Meaning that getting the new variant requires a dinowipe, removing the mod causing loss of dinos, etc etc. Surely then if one were to use a spawner (simple spawner for ASE like) or a replacer (let’s say swap dodo spawns with rexes, though I actually did the reverse by swapping Giga with dodos) and specify the original base Rex BP/class path, wouldn’t that still work? I figure they might just be doing the backend equivalent of swapping Rex with paleo Rex in the spawn tables. Once I get some issues on my pc sorted I’ll probably be able to experiment myself with it. Just as of right now I’m still in the planning stages for my first proper ASA play through and which mods I’ll be adding/buying. As for why I’d want the OG Rex, there are several reasons, difficulty isn’t really the half of it: 1. Sometimes I’ll wanna have fun tranqing a Rex (‘just because’) without having to be patient and do extra steps (why the most popular taming overhauls allowed both methods). 2. If every mod that influences Rex is a replacer, you have to pick only one. E.G. In ASE at least, shiny rares (a mod) were limited when it came to modded creatures, which replacers count as. Stand-alone = compatibility = Best Mod User Experience 3. I do actually like the OG rex, it’s a classic and definitely has a sci fi art feel. The two are more than different enough to be able to enjoy and appreciate both for their own reasons. 4. I have doubts that cosmetics and saddles both official and modded will work the same with this rex, it is a different model after all. I would like to be able to experience both without sacrificing one of the other. I would go as far as to say I’d rather pay for stand-alone than get the replacer free.
