Thank you I really like this video and this honest take on it. Not just somebody just fascinated with electrical vehicles thinking it’s going to take over. When really it’s just a small market and what about long term cost when you need to replace components that will completely out shadow. Anything you would have to do on a gasoline or diesel vehicle
Thank you for the kind words! I definitely enjoyed the EV truck and I'm glad for the experience, but it also showed me the current shortcomings. As I mentioned in a different comment, "I can see this working on a local basis of up to 600 miles round-trip but that's about it for the moment. The tech isn't ready for real-life conditions of OTR work."
I can't see this ever happening in my life time. The truck stops can barely handle conventional trucks. These truck stops would have to be several hundred acres to accommodate both. Then, there's the mechanic side nationwide. This is going to take decades " IF " it ever happens. I don't see it.
I'm afraid I have to agree with you 100%. We did have a trailer and a hitch (no pun intended 😁) and should've put it to the test. Based on my experience driving that truck, I'd say any payload, grade increase, or towing would cut the range substantially. Very good point!
That's why l am not getting rid of my 2001 dodge 2500 with the Cummins 5.9 with a 6spd tranny it doesn't know when to quit Not the fastest but there everyday Like your videos keep up the great info
It doesn't get much better than that. I love older diesel trucks. The electric one was definitely something else but it'll have to stay in the rental lot where I left it. Thanks for stopping by.
No way can diesel compete with all electrics as currently constituted with the possibility of the safety systems now in full size trucks possibly even the Tesla Cybertruck soon. The difference is that battery electrics run best when run all the time as opposed to an ice platform which runs just fine sitting around doing nothing😊
I can see using electric in local day cab city loads, anything else would be foolish. Electric trucks will never own the open roads, not in our lifetime, unless they outlaw fuel.
Well California is definitely well on its way to outlawing diesel and really pushing to go all-electric. I can see this working on a local basis of up to 600 miles round-trip but that's about it for the moment. The tech isn't ready for real-life conditions of OTR work.
Thanks for the shout out! We had a blast and glad you were able to make it to the wedding my brother!
Thanks for the invite guys. Such a great time! And we'll go camping, I'll hold ya to it 😜

A lot of people feel the same way. We made a few videos on the topic over the years and the sentiment hasn't seemed to have changed.
When an electric truck catches on fire it is much larger fire and goes quickly throughout entire vehicle. Diesel rules.❤
And it can't be put out with conventional methods. There are lots of things to figure out.
Add a trailer behind your electric pickup and see how long you can go
