This is one of the best author interviews! I love the fangirling questions and moments mixed with questions that were deeper and writer based. Rebecca Yarros was so funny and personable. Such a fun interview!!

I think realistically that wouldn’t add to the storyline at all. It might actually dismantle it. We’re supposed to be yearning for understanding and growth just like the characters. The backstory on the parents would add more humanity to their mother and Violet is rather descriptive of her father. But the ending of iron flame adds the necessary humanity to their mother. If anything the only prequel we need is Brennon after he disappeared and the start of the revolution.
My hypothesis is that she can see through the eyes of the people she cares about most. Because how else did she see through Andarna’s eyes and Xadens eyes.
I am happy that she mostly said "book 3" so I know the answers to those questions are coming sooner rather than later in book 5. My favorite character is Tairn. Violet was a bit annoying in Iron flame. I enjoyed this interview.
She can write whatever she likes. It's her story to tell.🤷🏻♀️ I'd suggest reading her contemporary romance books, she is BRUTAL about breaking readers' hearts! Be prepared.
As a dude who loves urban fantasy, and totally believes that that is why things like Harry Potter, and even twilight, we😊re so successful because they were realistic, I am so here for when she says she wrote these to bring people into the genre that did not normally read it because I have despised High fantasy until these books.
It's so interesting to hear the difference in pronunciation of words that the Americans use to say the character names and places etc. My pronunciation is completely different.

I hope they will end up dying of old age, happy in each other's arms in the last book. The record/history texts that pops up in the beginning of chapters makes me nervous. I dont want them to end up with short lives. 😬

The Maine love interest (Rhys) are almost the same person with the same powers. (I think Yarros might have taken some amount of inspiration from that series. (Though..now I have abstinence from those books too. 😅)

I feel like nobody ever compares it to Divergent which I think it resembles most with the different fractions and quadrants her havign to prove herself as she was least likely to be a rider. I haven't gotten through the whole interview but it is always hunger games and harry potter and Game of Thrones. So weird to me
Divergent was one of the first things I thought of reading this series! The entire experience of being a 1st year reminded me of Tris becoming Dauntless. And Xaden is very similar to Four in ways.
The name Adarna comes from the Filipino folktale of Ibong Adarna where a magical bird is capable of healing any disease and curses. That’s how Xaden will get cured, through Adarna’s song.
I read a fan theory today that both Violet and Xaden are demigods. Violets dad is Malek which is why she Liam was allowed to come visit her and Xaden’s mom is Dunne.
I would have asked the question that has been bugging me since fourth wing. Which is where did Imogen go during the squad battle reward, when they all went to the outpost with Mira? She has the ability to erase memories so where did she go? Is that going to be explained in book three?
I like the comparison to triage she mentioned and how relatable it is. When you are in the thick of it, war, the goal is efficiency and success of mission. Good or bad, you have to keep working or the mission fails, and potentially you or someone else dies because of your mistake. So many times emotional things are filed away for later…unfortunately it is not necessarily healthy but def realistic. Healthiest would be to deal with it as soon after as possible and if not, you may end up in one of the locked hospitals 20 years later.

I think it would've been great if Rebecca would've been part of the writers' room. I really fear that the series misses the details that only she knows and that the quality is way lower like with what has happened to Eragon.

Watching this video a few months later when it got released. I think Xadens mom is the sage and Xadens trying to get in touch with her to figure out how to stop the attacks. The reason why the sage wants Violet is so she can get closer to Xaden and use that to her advantage. Idk though, guess we’ll find out 😂

I hope I hope she puts input into the adaptations because me and my husband felt Netflix would have did an amazing adaptation since they are more explicit when it comes to sex scenes but Amazon jumped on that when they heard about it! Even Shonda Rhimes with the help of other directors and producers could have made a master piece! We will see!

She really needs to look at what happens when you let writers do whatever they want with a book to film, see divergent, fifth wave, the first hunger games, movie, all of those directors and screen writers messed up and with the hunger games the first film nearly ended the whole series! With fifth wave They messed it up so bad that it was actually set for a three-movie deal they canceled the other two films the other two books and just let it go at just the first film because the writer, Akiva, Goldsmith, messed it up! This is my fear. This is absolutely my fear! Never give full control of your content to screenwriters and directors, because they will mess it up!
Hunger games was fine for content, it wouldn't have been perfect. It did very very well compared to others, it isnt like Twilight where the first few movies were word for word. They did very very well on twilight. It was Divergent and 5th wave. Especially Insurgent and Allegiant.

With fifth wave They messed it up so bad that it was actually set for a three-movie deal they canceled the other two films the other two books and just let it go at just the first film because the writer, Akiva, Goldsmith, messed it up! This is my fear. This is absolutely my fear! Never give full control of your content to screenwriters and directors, because they will mess it up!
Hunger games was fine for content, it wouldn't have been perfect. It did very very well compared to others, it isnt like Twilight where the first few movies were word for word. They did very very well on twilight. It was Divergent and 5th wave. Especially Insurgent and Allegiant.
I fear more of a repeat of Eragon proportions....they messed up so much in that movie....
