    I can not thank you enough. Ive been trying to find a tool to cut v slots easy and fast for years. Takes hours of work doing it with micro files hard to get a good clean slot. I never thought of a bead drilling machine. Beautiful pipe so far.

      @@kraigseder If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy the french sanding wheel? Or did you make it? and how did you come up with the adapter for mounting it to the motor? Reason being, I have and old motor that would make a good sander that I could use for my pipes. Thanks again!

    I like you slot cutting tool, it is really the perfect setup. Long ago i made one that mounts on my mill vice.

      The slot cutter does work nice. I used to hand cut my slots, but this is faster and you get an exact V slot every time.

    I was thinking about rigging together some sort of slot drilling machine, now I'm just going to get a bead driller as save myself the hassle. Thanks for this tip!

      Hi Colin. Glad you found it helpful. With the bead driller I use a 1/16" side cutting bit from Raw Krafted. rawkrafted.com/chheda-design-1-16-inch-side-cutting-three-flute-drill-bit-cylindrical/

    Showing your stem work roughing was very helpful on the belt sander🍭🐓👶

    • @kraigseder
      @kraigseder  3 года назад

      I'm glad it was helpful. I can't remember if I showed it, but I usually put in a flat needle file into the slot when I'm profiling the thickness on the belt sander. The flat needle file is about the same height as the slot. This helps me get close but not sanding into the airway. I also put the flat file in the airway to check my thickness when using files. I use the needle flat file that comes to a point instead of the flat file with the square tip.

    Kraig, does the bead drilling machine using that side cutting bit handle acrylic as well as ebonite? Many thanks...great tutorial, I refer to it frequently.

    Where do you get a French wheel and is it just mounted to a normal bench grinder?

    Hey Kraig. How many RPMs is the motor for your shaping disk, and what grit do you use? Thanks in advance.

    • @kraigseder
      @kraigseder  Год назад +2

      My motor runs at 1350 RPMs. I start with 80 grit, then to 120 for taking off the majority of wood, then go to 400 grit for fine tuning the shape.

      Hi Mark. Do a search for "perl drill" or here is a link on Amazon - www.amazon.com/pearl-drill/s?k=pearl+drill . The side cutting drill size is 2mm or 5/64". A standard drill bit works as well at the high RPMs.

    What r.p.m is your sanding motor? I would expect it can't be to high.

    • @kraigseder
      @kraigseder  Год назад +1

      The motor RPM is 1600. I'd like to have a variable speed, but for now this is what I work with.

    Hey brother, that slot cutting (bead drill) looks like the cats ass!! Where did you find it? Do you have a link? Also, I love your videos, very informative and great to watch, too many times others make videos but don't show what they're doing leaving everyone hanging. Lol. I hope you make more in the future!! Even if you made ones without commentary, just the process. That would cool too. Thanks brother!

    Hi you must modify your vacuum system with an half moon around the french wheel and install a cyclone system in your vacuum cleaner or take a professional vacuum cleaner with cyclone system because your vacuum cleaner is not power enough

      @kraigseder  2 года назад

      Thanks. That's exactly what I'm doing now. I just moved into a new house 2 months ago and I'm setting up my new shop. I'm making a half moon dust collection for my French wheel. I've got a good shop dust vacuum I'll be hooking up to it. Take care and happy New Years.

    To much prelim, people should know how to see to their own health and safety and mechanics of machines, last straw was not being able to see the sanding of the piece because your hands are in the way of the camera. You obviously don't view your videos or you would know this. Position the camera so as to see what you are doing.
