Thank you Gary, it doesn't always work out as planned. Try always starting the cut on the bark from the edge inward, as then the pressure is in the direction of supported bark.

I have a nice piece of Elm that needs turning. I want to make something a little different and this design seems to fit the bill perfectly. With a little luck I can make a similar bowl half as nice as your's, or should I say Sarah's. Well done as usual Mike and thanks for the inspiration.
