I genuinely respect & like Jen Stoltenberg, and I think quite highly of Jens Stoltenberg's work as Secretary General, including his diplomatic/negotiation skills, communications skills, his passion for NATO, and his ability to work with such a diverse set of national leaders. Furthermore, I am especially pleased that he has been retained in this role during what continues to be an especially demanding & fluid situation in Europe & during a time when NATO must re-define & expand many of its security plans. Having said that, there are times when I feel as if asking Mr. Stoltenberg as question during a press conference is like pushing one of four or five buttons to get a well-rehearsed, pre-written summary/narrative which may or may not bear some resemblance to the questions asked by reporters! lol I honestly do not believe that Stoltenberg is trying to be coy, obtuse or opaque. IMHO, it's most likely a result of him being so focused on celebrating specific successes within the alliance & reiterating the decisions that were made that he misses the unique focus of each reporter's question(s).
I don't think he missed the focus of some reporters' questions. I think he cannily side-stepped more tricky ones such as the one made regarding Zelensky's reaction to some language of the communiqué and whether it would anger or alienate some of the allies. Stoltenberg probably was not in a position to elaborate on their possible reactions and wisely refused to be drawn into it. A lot of the reporters covering the NATO conferences/discussions on Ukraine are looking for different angles for the coverage - more than the usual story of how much more the allies are supporting Ukraine whether in terms of financial or military materiel. A story on possible frictions between allies and Ukraine would stir up a lot more interest than the same old, same old "we are all in this together for as long as it takes." I don't envy Stoltenberg's position - he has to placate a lot of big egos while pushing to make them look beyond their own self-interests to reach a common goal. He is a very shrewd man and knows the ins-and outs of politics and very adapt at horse-trading to arrive at an agreement beneficial to all sides. I admire him immensely and am in awe of his patience and stamina.
Might as well admit ukraine into nato now a vast majority of our weapon systems are there and in place it would save the training of new soldiers and pilots when our guys are more than qualified
When will the Sweden Flag be raised @ NATO?
mabye sometime in oktober i hope
Good question idk maybe this week I hope
Heard recently that the turkish parliment wont open until october, so even though a comprimise jas been found, the process wont proceed until then
The parliament in Turkey and Hungary has to do the formal ratification.
I work in a major NATO facility. Their flag pole (without the flag) is ready since October 2022.
Thats what i want to hear !!! Thanks NATO !!!
