A lot is emphasize in what is not said, but for Roman to just look him dead in the eyes and say how he really felt. OOF. Even after saying he hated Lukas, he didn't care to backtrack or make a joke out of it. Roman took the bait here. Mattson had a suspicion they were tanking the deal but he goaded Roman into laying his cards on the table. He's done research on all of them, and he knows Roman is fiercely loyal to his dad so in a mixture of frustration with them and making his next move, he lays the Logan insults on thick. It feels good in the moment for Roman but you can see his and Kendall's faces on the plane in the end, Mattson just goes around them and presents the offer directly to the board and it's too good to turn down, so he takes the company the way he always wanted in the end.

      @Mauro Rossi Montero yeah I'm not sure if he is or isn't. Definitely not arguing that he didn't embarrass the boys this episode. I'm just saying we've seen him have his moments, but we've seen Ken and Roman have theirs too. But we both know those two are deeply flawed. In the short amount of time we've seen Mattson, the writers showed he has some pretty major flaws of his own. Just this episode he told shiv, the sister of the brothers he's trying to fuck, that he has a history of seriously harassing an employee. I don't think that's a throwaway piece of information in this show. Also, there are clear parallels with elon musk caricature (itchy twitter fingers/impulsive decision making).
      But even Shiv figured that plan out. It was definitely obvious. And as for logan... that is tough. Their convo did seem pretty equal but that was it for the two of them. So yeah idk what he really thought of him. Just saying it's possible that he's an intelligent dumdum like the others. But I do know for sure that I love this show. On a viewing after knowing how the show ends, Roman's emotional outburst is a disaster. He glances off the part where Mattson gave up his weak point, that he needs the deal to happen quickly because he is hiding bad numbers in India, and he makes a double error in giving away their intention openly that they're trying to slow the deal down but also giving away the weak spot that they don't know how. That he mentions trying to bore Mattson to death also gives away that he doesn't know Mattson's weak point, he missed Mattson's mistake with his one emotional outburst that he needs the deal to happen fast.

Just petty mind games coming from Mattson. He wanted to go over their heads and straight to the board anyway.

When he saw the fake articles that the deal vibes are off ,and the bad movie just confirmed it. That they wanted to tank the deal. He had it all planned before this negotiation ,he knew if he said something bad about Logan ,that Roman would break and then they couldn't tank the deal with a higher offer. Someone will say ,yeah but he paid more. I don't think that bothered him that much ,his satisfaction was seeing their faces at the end. Mattson says finding his dad gave him 'trauma' but I think he was trying to one-up Kendall and Logan in the 'my dad just died' stakes. • @makeshiftgleeman7322
    @makeshiftgleeman7322 Месяц назад

    Notice roman's real mistake:
    Logan was both direct and indirect whenever it was convenient to the situation. I think Roman was tapping into a side of him that was both direct but fake/unserious. Roman knew what he wanted, but he didn't respect someone that was was more determined than him.
    Notice the part that he says "you just f*cked yourself",
    If Roman was serious, he would've told him he didn't wanna make the deal, that he hated him, but not that he was gonna deny everything to the board (Or that he himself is "gone/dead"). For all the show of strength Roman has the potential to show, it is self defeated when it is just an outburst of insecurity that can be seen as such. Roman only knew abuse, so naturally he has a harder time diferenciating cruelty from authority, they are almost both the same thing to him, and so if cruelty/abuse is done to him, that to him shows they have more authority.
    The fact he would act imposing about something he wouldn't stand up for later with the board gives enough evidence for Mattson to know if he puts the big number and convinces the board Roman is not gonna have the stones to own up to his word and put his thumb down on the board.
    It shows the half-assed aspect of his threat, He was insulted but also amused by Roman puffing his chest. Maybe if it were Ken, or all 3 of them, it would have been different, but if it was just Roman he shouldn't have said the part about drawing it out while denying his intentions. It just gave Mattson the answer to get what he wanted.
