  • This lecture reflects on Shakespeare's use of dramaturge figures within Shakespeare's plays.
    While Hamlet doesn't orchestrate the action the way that we see many figures do in Shakespeare's plays, his comments on art lend us insight into the mind of the Elizabethan dramatist, who is notable for his sense of moral responsibility in teaching as well as in delighting his audience.

    Totally agree with you that art imitates life in many ways. I teach theatre and I encounter many situations that are quite applicable to real life conditions. It is an eye opening experience and somehow uncanny. Students get excited when I flip the scenario and direct the questions to them.
