Anyone remember leokimvideo and his toy reviews? A lot of reviews are essentially advertisements and don’t give you the negatives. Lord knows the RUclips comment section isn’t much better.
We have to give credit to Ford. All those years of building and selling trucks does give them some idea as to what the consumer wants. At the end of the day, you still have to sell a product that is also desirable and affordable. Otherwise, it doesn't do you any good if you can only offer it to just a select portion of the market.
except my buddy got rid of his after getting stranded from 2 hours of driving with a trailer, and 580 horse is only impressive when looking at electric vehicles the dodge ram TRX has over 900 horse
I really appreciate a company when they give you /exclusive/ access to their product but don't forbid you from mentioning their competitors. This is the way! Great video Zack!
Rivian isnt competition, ford owns 18% percent of the company. Tesla is a data mining company not a car company. There is no comparison, at least not for electric trucks.
I appreciate that the Ford looks mostly like a normal truck, there are already plenty of spaceship-looking EVs for people who want that style. I hope they are reliable, because an electric pickup should be super useful. Imagine being able to back into your garage without poisoning yourself, or having instant cabin heat in the early morning without making engine noise or stink.
@@user-pn3im5sm7k there’s people out there. But personally the f-150 lightning is the best looking, simply because it’s shares a majority of its design with the normal one.
@@user-pn3im5sm7k I would like a truck that is hard to ding by car doors, shopping carts and errant 2x4's or hammers on a job site. I also hate paint, hate bling and hate plastic. I've leased vehicles and found it incredibly hard to prevent the minor everyday damage. Style is cool if it lasts and isn't subject to damage in a hail storm or a parking lot...
I guess I'll be waiting a year or two to see how it does as far as maintenance and reliability and how well Ford treats it's lightning owners. I like what I've seen here, now I just need the rest and I'll buy it.
Electric trucks are terrible. The battery will die sooner then later if you put it in a work truck. Pulling, payload, off road. All of that will strain the battery faster. Lose your charge quicker and the battery wont hold charge because of, the excess heating from over use and charging.
@@Phillipnoogen ehh unlike the newer manufacturers Ford already has a lot of equipment and people and such so once the initial wave is done it'll probably just be available on the lots. If I don't have one for 5 years because I am waiting them oh well, I guess I'll just have to drive my perfectly good f150 till then. 🤷
@@user-ph2jg8zx9m Hmmm I'm gonna trust the automotive engineers and not random slouch on the web here. Seeing as you have so many electric trucks to look at for your perspective.
If you had told me 5 years ago that Ford would be making such smart decisions and helping to pave the way for the future of EV, I would have laughed in your face. The smartest thing they have done was to make it just look like a traditional pickup truck. If they drop the same power plant into a Ranger Lightning, it might just outsell the Tacoma in the mid-sized category.
An EV Ranger will not outsell a Tacoma, the infrastructure for EVs still needs another decade to advance. Until we start allowing more nuclear power plants renewable energy won't be enough
Why would that surprise you? Ford has quite literally been the innovator in trucks consistently for the last 2+ decades. Sure, sometimes it hasn't worked out for them but no other company has been pushing boundaries like they have. The only thing I can name that someone else did first was Dodge with coil rear suspension, other than that basically everything meaningful came from Ford first.
@@fakumadda1632 that's right. If there was no Musk, it would never be Tesla and so the electric vehicles therefore we are all still stuck to the internal combustion engines.
Like you said, I think THIS truck is a game changer for electric vehicles! It serves an already well establish market segment, and can move many people over to electric with ease. The range, carrying capacity, and towing package are excellent. (RANGE!!!!) The fact that in addition to the large center screen (on the higher trim models), they still also kept all the physical buttons everywhere else that you'd expect is top notch understanding of their buyers! NO ONE wants to have to navigate through on-screen tabs and menus to accomplish something that used to be a no-look single button push!!! (glaring at Tesla) The front trunk storage is awesome! (I wonder if someone will make front trunk tool bins that replace bed tool boxes?) The outlets all around the vehicle, including 240v in the bed are sweet, and the ability to send power back to the home during an outage via the charging cable with some extra hardware installed in the home is a major leap forward!!! Oh, and the charging rate that this truck is capable of is incredible, and nicely future proofed since it exceeds what most charging stations currently offer. Lastly, the Ford Charge Station Pro... WOW, 80 AMPs... (needing a 100 AMP circuit from the panel) that just makes me giddy. (100 AMPs is my whole service panel currently.)
I didn't even consider the front trunk tool bins omfg.....yesssss I want one with a fold out work bench could you imagine having your tools your cutting table and power all right there in the front.
I’ve always been interested in an F-150. The gas mileage of a truck was always a deterrent to me. This electric pick up will be a game changer to many people who feel the same way I do.
Ford said that about half of the people who already put orders for the truck never had a truck before. Basically people like you who were worried about gas before but not anymore
Same reason I’d order one of these, or a hybrid f150. Poor gas mileage. This thing is incredible. I can’t charge it in my apartment so I won’t be buying one for quite a few years, but damn do I want one
I live in North Carolina, and right near the water so hurricanes ruin my home at least once a year. This truck would be a game changer knowing I could pair it with my generator and power my house for quite a long time when the power goes out from Hurricane (Insert name here) ruining the grid. Love it. Great review.
And then if it's an extended outage you can charge the truck during low power usage that way you could have battery to run through the night without running the generator 24/7
Great coverage of power outlets and Intelligent Backup Power feature including $3895 price. Setting the bar that Cybertruck and others should match, indeed.

This is the first time I've even considered a truck, thanks to the amazing EV tech inside. What a cool vehicle. Ground clearance is pretty worrisome though, batteries don't like punctures last I heard
My only concern with Rivian is longevity and part availability, Ford has been here for a very long time and will be here for even longer so I know parts will be available and this truck will just get better and better each year. Tesla has really improved and made a good name for themselves, I hope they make a work truck version of the cybertruck but it will be great I believe.
@@edgewood99 I really have high hopes for the Cybertruck also, Elon and team make amazing designs, top of my list for a truck but price is not reasonable for me for any of them and I wonder if companies will invest to get lower fuel costs.
@@edgewood99 cyber isn't a practical work truck. you can't buy a lumber rack the same day, slap it on and be back to work the next day. a lumber rack would look amazingly disgusting on the cyber and probably wouldn't be too functional{too tall to reach without ladders). this electric f-150 can slap on a lumber rack right away and be working the same day, if needed. cyber is novelty truck. no hard working guy who actually uses their trucks can afford one. just like the ev hummer, cyber is a novelty truck for rich people.
One small thing you missed 4:34 (it's a thing my dad really likes about his F-250) is that, the bed step actually has a handle you can grasp onto when you're stepping up. @@shahan484 Highly unlikely it will out sell others. Ford sold 800,000 F150 in 2019 vs Tesla's model 3 with 200,000. People who use trucks will likely stick with the Big 3. People who want Cyber Truck and willing to pay premium will be less. Tesla is premium priced and has the build of the old Avalanche and Ridgeline. Reason both company's dropped that box design.

The home backup battery feature alone makes this extremely competitive against other offerings. Starting at 40k for the pro model that can do all of that and not including tax incentives, it looks promising.
The starting at 40k is a lie. If you go to their website it’s actually 46,000. They say you will save 6000 on gas over the life of the truck. So they advertise 40k….. that’s not how prices work Ford.

Would love to see a farmer or union welder or someone give their take on it. Or even someone more obscure like a fish tank stocking person. Can it run a water pump for light dust control while also driving slowly? Can it give the amperage for a TiG machine? Etc
I am a dairy farmer and I'm waiting to see the Cybertruck. If it doesn't live up to expectations, the Ford will be my next choice. Currently I own an 07 F250 diesel, so electric is looking very attractive right now with $5.50 fuel. The F150 lightning does have the amperage to run a tig welder. TFL did a review on the Powerboost F150 and it handled it without issue. The lightning output is the same.

Nope GMC Hummer ev is the coolest of them all inside-out but is sold-out too expensive, then Rivian is second cooler so since i already did order it, so..i'll keep my reservation for the R1T i just learn from presentation that the Ford is more affordable yes but that is about it because inside-out Rivian has better quality which is a strong decision factor in my case since i will spend a good amount of time in it daily..
I’m still on board with the CyberTruck, but Ford was definitely pretty on point with this truck - I think they’re going to sell a crap ton of them and nothing could be better for the market than that. Well done, Ford!
Is the cybertruck ever going to materialize? And ford was on point because ford had been building trucks for around a century, and they know what people want unlike Tesla and Rivian (and don’t get me wrong I do like both companies) have more of an approach of this is what we think people want, your comment makes it seem as though ford built something completely new but in reality they just stuck electric motors into what has been their best seller for decades, this is one reason why I think the traditional car companies are going to dominate the market in the long run because they already know how to make cars where as Rivian and Tesla and the other EV exclusive companies basically had to learn to build a car first and it shows, your traditional companies are what is going to bring electric vehicles mainstream
It will be interesting to see what kind of range Ford will get when they design an aerodynamic truck vs F150. it's been fun seeing the different reviews. Haven't seen anyone talk about the tech of aerodynamic they have used in the F150 underneath the vehicle....why it's important not to have it in any other mode but offroad when going off road (aerodynamic plates underneath opening and closing) and vice versa (off road mode on the highway will greatly reduce range). So much engineering tech here....congrats Ford.
Love everything about this, except for 2 things that have no place in an electric vehicle. 1) Why have a start/stop button when there is keyless operation and there is no danger from asphyxiation of a running engine’s exhaust? 2) Why have a bulky shifter when there is no transmission? The fact that there is another button to articulate the shifter out the way highlights the silliness of that design. Just use small buttons to select P, D, N and R as well as to offer motor braking adjustment to maximize interior space and simplify the design. Each drive you spend about 1 second selecting selecting ‘gears’.
@@StefanNoack What’s interesting is that the original shifter (for manual transmissions) is not something you’d want to continuously apply load to in between shifts as that’s not good for the transmission. But then of course came the electro-mechanical shifters in automatics (and some EVs) where this habit doesn’t matter. It’s just too bulky to have without adding more value than a hand rest. 😆
My current F150 is 9 years old and I'm in construction. Other than air conditioning I've never had an issue. I'm very interested in making the Lighting my next truck.
Important note: Fast, faster, fastest - describes speed, (top speed, higher end speed.) Quick, quicker, quickest - describes acceleration, (reaching a speed in a time) When you say "fastest truck" it means it has highest top speed. "Quickest truck" it means it goes to speed X (ie: 60mph) in the shortest time
This is the truck I have been waiting for. I love my 05 Ram. The power, the capability, the sheer fun of a v8, the taking $175 out of my pocket every week I can do without. If the Cybertruck could actually deliver 500 miles a charge I might still go with the Ford. I know I can get a plow for winter, a grill guard and every other accessory I want on it, since it is just a “normal” truck. Can’t say the same for the Tesla. For the price it falls where the normal trucks do which is amazing.

After everything i've seen I'd have to give it Ford, under 40k with all those features, they definitely dominate the the e-truck segment at the moment.
It needs a small APU on board to charge the battery pack. Ford did a great job applying all that technology and engineering, looks like a pretty cool package.
Yes, Ford can ramp up production of the truck. But what remains to be seen for Ford, GM, Rivian, etc. Is whether they can ramp battery production. This would include raw material availability. As I understand it, Tesla has a lock on much of the raw materials and they are fully manufacturing their new cells in-house. There is a lot of catch up to do, I'm afraid.
Ford claims to have locked up contacts for the batterys for the next few years to produce 150k a year, and in 2025 ford's new battery plants in Tennessee and Kentucky are supposed to come online and be able to produce enough for 2 million EVs by 2026. We'll see if they hit those numbers but if they do they should be in great shape
Rivian will not suffer since all brand batteries stacks along with other electrical components are made in china thru the brand partnerships (it was explained by none other than Sandy Munro he was working in his youth at Ford as quality inspector also since he has just got a Rivian for himself since last year so he definitely knows everything about it inside-out..)
"Yes, Ford can ramp up production of the truck." No. They can't. These complainace "trucks" use 1,700 chips (while a proper ICE F-150 uses about 200). Ford is already parking these fake Lightnings at the Dearborn test track because of lack of chips.
Because I appreciate the technical side of this channel, I would like to recommend not to use the 12V battery for jumpstart (4:12). In hybrid and electric cars, the 12V battery is usually small and the peak current not suitable for jumpstarting an ICE only handling the low voltage systems. This would damage the battery and shorten its lifespan. Also the inverter that generates the 12V from the big battery is not design for jumpstart peak current and it has a current limit fuse that can fail.
Since you appreciate technical details...is not an inverter it is a buck converter that takes 400v DC to 12v DC- also called an accessory power module.
I love everything about my 2020 king ranch f150 and will never buy a car from another manufacturer. It's easy as hell to work on and makes you feel like a king
I probably won’t buy an EV for another 5 years or so, due to living in an apartment with no chargers, but I absolutely LOVE this truck and want one so bad. The fact that this looks like a regular F150 makes it infinitely better than any other EV. Hopefully by the time I’m ready to buy one, they’ll figure out how to get more range and faster charging speeds for the battery. I actually have money for one saved up, and if I had a house that I could charge in my driveway, I’d no doubt have pre ordered one. I was gonna order a regular F150 with the hybrid engine, the max recline seats and the foldable work space to hold me over for a few years, but ford ridiculously omitted the max recline seats option for anything lower than the platinum/king ranch trims, which is trash.
It is cool to see this stuff coming out but there is deffinatly a lot of questions to be answered. Like what is the range when towing, or worse driving or towing in cold weather? I live in Canada and -20 c is a normal winter thing and towns 100 or more KM's apart is normal. Also where is the power to charge coming from? Solar works great in some places but not everywhere and I see substantial upgrades to our power infrastructure being required to make EV's a reality. And a 20k solar array to charge an 90k truck would buy a lot of gasoline for a regular truck. Also being capable of recycling batteries at end of life and being financially viable are two different things. I am not trying to discount the benefits or be a stick in the mud, like I said I really like the idea however I still see many questions to be really thoroughly answered still...
I share your concerns. The range that is given by Ford is under optimum conditions with the biggest battery upgrade. The cold weather will really cut into the range without question. If you are regularly towing, usually a half ton isn't what you are going to need anyway, unless the trailer is smaller. In the long run, they are going to have to really increase the capacity of the electrical grid as well as public charging stations if these are going to be practical. That is for EVs in general. The one final red flag for this vehicle is the amount of energy it requires to charge. It is really cool that you could power your house for 3 days on a charge, but that also means it will require 3 days worth of household electricity use to charge this unit up! If you are driving a lot and require daily overnight charging, that is a lot of power! If half of the people on your block started to do this, there is no way the electrical grid could accommodate it. I don't doubt that this is an amazing machine, and would love to try one, but I just still see a lot of potential problems.
@@JC-vy1bo Unfortunately these issues will start to become more prevalent as we move in this direction. Battery range, charging and cold weather performance will *probably* be resolved or at least vastly improved with new tech such as solid state batteries though in what timeframe is anyones guess. However infrastructure upgrades are a much more costly and long term. It is totally doable I just don't think on the timescale people are expecting (well not at any price they would be willing to pay anyway... almost anything is possible with enough money) And generating the electricity is another problem all on it's own especially when people want to get an electric car AND move to heat pumps in their house and electric hot water... That is a lot of demand especially in areas that already have problems with brown outs and black outs due to insufficient grid power available...
You have shown us all related to different terrain but river crossing and ability to stand the water you havent mentioned. How this truck can stand floods and how can they be repaired after… We need this peace of trial from Ford
Nice video, but I wish you would have put in the expected life of the battery pack and factored in the replacement cost as part of the maintenance upkeep.
A pro model with good options around 46k and ability to act as backup power so much better compare to Rivian. As for Tesla cyber truck, not sure what it can do since they haven't release the final version and spec.
Don't forget that base pro requires The $1300+tax and shipping pro 80 amp bi directional charging station, plus an activation fee the er model's don't have to pay to enable the backup feature. Ford does not say yet how much that fee will be or if it will be a monthly subscription fee either. And you need the sunrun home backup package which costs another $3,895+tax&shipping then pay for installing it all at your house. 👍🏻
@@4literv6 A little overpriced, but the cost of the system itself isn't actually that bad, a good ~5000W inverter for running your home can easily get into $1,000 by itself plus another $200-500 for a transfer switch and some safety components, then you tend to at least need approval/inspection from the city if not also permits before connecting anything that touches the grid, so if you wanted to do something similar yourself you'd likely still be looking in the ballpark of $2,000 + tax/shipping.
@@vgamesx1 good point's, imo what makes sense is having someone install a grid window switch and 30 amp 240v generator plug like you would with a natural gas generator setup. Then if needed you can run a few things from the lightnings bed outlet. Without paying 7-10k or possibly even more for all the stuff required to utilize the full 9.6kwhs from the truck through the backup feature.
@@4literv6 Also a good point, though technically you should be able to already do that, right? I mean It has that 240V 30A outlet and can do 2.4 kW through the 120V outlets, just that alone could run most things in your house, so it'd require a bit of extra cable work, but I see no reason why you couldn't make that work without their expensive bidirectional charger or anything, unless they blocked it in some way.

I would like to see which truck holds up the best. All the fancy motor to lift the tailgate and steering column seems like a issue waiting to happen. I would love to see a more barebones vehicle that is electric to bring the price down. Like take the basic F150 and electrify it. I think this would bring down the cost. Same thing with a barebones Tesla. Do we really need to go 0-60 in under 4 secs for a base model. I like the look of the Rivian, but the lack of tech it brings is concerning. especially for the price. Tesla's self driving is way more advanced than anyone's out there, so even though the truck is ugly (subjective), the tech is way above par. I would really like to see Honda or Toyota to make an Electric truck since they are known for their reliability. Even a Hybrid truck at this state would be entertaining to see. Overall I think many, (if not most) truck owned have the need/want for towing. and if the idea that to tow something will deplete the range closed to half, then they are no interested. A hybrid would allow for this extended range. Just my 2 cents.
The base pro doesn't have the powered tailgate and is essentially the base f150 xl but with a nicer XLT interior. The base pro starts at 40k but the base ICE XL with 4x4 fx4 (which Ford says every lightning has) and crew cab costs 46770, and the lightning is even cheaper when you factor in the 7500 tax credit
@@mikefarino4368 Thanks, good to know. I wonder what the time frame on delivering the lower end version will be? I know the Model 3 was promoted to be a ~$30K car but the only ones that were being delivered/built was the $60k ones.( at least at first). I just hope that they can emphasis on both higher and lower tiered models and not just promote that they have a lower model but will not be able to deliver it in a timely fashion.
@@chrisarnone7896 Ford is supposedly starting delivery with the pro, but it's going to be less than 10% of the production. Unfortunately with battery costs being so high currently Ford is probably losing a bit or just barely breaking even on the pro model.
Calculating the 5 year maintenance number is suspect. A big part of the maintenance costs for older EVs was replacing the battery packs. Ford has an 8 year/100k warranty on the battery, which covers batteries that drop under 70% of the the original capacity. However, they only promise to bring it up to the expected capacity for vehicle age and mileage, and may use refurbished batteries to do it. According to EDF Energy (which references a bunch of other sources), modern EV batteries are projected to need replacement when they drop bellow 80% in 10-20 years of driving. Battery longevity is based on charging and discharging the battery. Using the battery as a battery bank will presumably shift that range down. The same article is hopeful that replacement batteries will drop under $100/kWh by 2030. Optimistically, the 131kWh battery might cost under $13,100 + labor if you have to replace your 2022 F150 Lightning Extended Battery just out of warranty. Regardless, unless you're the kind of wealthy that replaces vehicles like socks, you need to factor battery replacement into your maintenance costs.
I think there is alot of value in the base model f150 lightning. I wish we knew when the cyber truck will be delivering because I love that too but its anyones guess when that will happen
It’s great, but not excellent. There’s pros and cons that are all subjective based on individual needs, wants and price (form vs function). This will move customers who may have been unsure about EVs and that alone makes it a worthy competitor. I’m sure Ford will iterate and update with additional features year on year. Let’s see how the Cyber Truck lands and adds to this expanding market, joining Rivian and Hummer (as well as Zach’s Hummer ⚡️).
As a add on , just some other cool things on the F150 , back seat like a couch massive wide , massive legroom , loads of light into back seat area for high visibility. Pass thru window im back window , for a variety of uses , pets , long items , communication with passengers in the bed. Cool camera system for reversing , blended images . Fold down completely flat front seats cool for napping on overnight jobs/adventures/courting. Surround lights to illuminate the outside of the truck as you work around it preventing injury or the need to carry a torch. A simple thing but a super useful feature the powered tailgate up and down saving time and being convenient.
The Shelby F-150 has 750HP, it's not the engine/motor power he was talking about when he made that claim, it's the Electrical power, and being able to deliver that power through DC to a home that he made that comment for. And 15HP isn't that much more, especially when considering how different Electric HP and Gasoline HP are different.

We have to give credit to Ford. All those years of building and selling trucks does give them some idea as to what the consumer wants. At the end of the day, you still have to sell a product that is also desirable and affordable. Otherwise, it doesn't do you any good if you can only offer it to just a select portion of the market.

U think Evs are a SMART decision? It's backwards technology
You can thank Elon for that.

It has excellent towing capacity, yes. But when using the excellent towing capacity, your range is gonna be dogsh*t.

The 2021 F-150 hybrid is your best option. See the generator in the tailgate
And then if it's an extended outage you can charge the truck during low power usage that way you could have battery to run through the night without running the generator 24/7

Love the song and scene at the start, classic Ford f150 stuff
I'm impressed. Ford do produce good vehicles but they rarely stand out - kind of like the base model but then you choose another manufacturer if you want more. This really does seem like it's been designed for the customer, not as competition to it's rivals but really looking at what it's customers want.
7:00 Minor correction, but I believe you mean people with limited vision can still hear the vehicles, not folks who have limited hearing.
Loving all the EV content lately.
Electric Vehicles are silent especially at low speeds as the tire noise isn't that loud. I think he meant hearing. The sound is supposed to be louder than the tire noise at lower speeds.
@@Lovin_NY93 I think Matt is right, its definitely for people with limited vision. The sounds these EVs make are not loud enough for someone who is "Hard of hearing" to hear.
I ride a bike, and I can tell you you’re gonna hear the engine roar before you see anything.
I’d like to see how cyclists and pedestrians will react to basically silent things that go 60 miles an hour.
@@AndrewWellsPlus it's definitely louder than tire noise at or below 30 or 35 mph, there's a rav4 hybrid in my neighborhood that runs in EV mode, and I always hear it coming from farther than other cars.
I pray everyday ford will sell this truck in Australia. Number 1 truck of all electric trucks for sure, it does everything without being most powerful etc ford is a honest company they seem they care bout there customers.
I have been watching things I can't afford on your channel for years and am still going 😂😂😂😂😂
Would love one of these. Would like to know more about charging station availability, range when towing a travel trailer, how long it takes to charge when away from home, and it’s use when Boondocking.
The simple and classic design + all the workhorse features + especially the off-the-grid config is what makes EVs unique. Fashy luxury is riduculous. This is classic luxury with brains. Well played, Ford!
My favorite thing about the F-150 lightning is that it is a truck, that just so happens to be an EV.
6:33 AND! this is why dealerships HATEEEEEE electric car customers.
here in my place, we get maybe 15 days of fluctuative current in a month, yet pay bills worth 3 months, so yeahhhh , and its not changing anytime soon.
As a current 2018 F150 owner, this is truly my dream truck. I love my 3.5L EcoBoost, but I’d trade it in a heartbeat.

Electric trucks are terrible. The battery will die sooner then later if you put it in a work truck. Pulling, payload, off road. All of that will strain the battery faster. Lose your charge quicker and the battery wont hold charge because of, the excess heating from over use and charging.
Based on 20 yrs of battery construction tools and machine usage.
That rear tailgate step has that yellow pole to the left of it so you can use it as a handle to step up btw!
This is the coolest electric truck ever! There are so many features. I’m excited to see all the new electric vehicles there will be in the future!
True, the EV Hummer is pretty cool! I’d love to get an EV but I don’t currently have the money for one. Hope you like your Rivian!

They killed it with the Frunk. As someone who swears by the Cybertruck, the F150L is an amazing vehicle
You need the shifter to rest your right hand while steering with the left hand on top of the wheel.
Important note:
Fast, faster, fastest - describes speed, (top speed, higher end speed.)
Quick, quicker, quickest - describes acceleration, (reaching a speed in a time)
When you say "fastest truck" it means it has highest top speed.
"Quickest truck" it means it goes to speed X (ie: 60mph) in the shortest time
bruh stop
Great overview of the truck! I can't wait for my reservation to be available.
one wheel looses traction it would stop spinning. Rear lock on and the tire won't stop and just mimic the opposite tire.
Theoretically, if you can drive to a nearby city/town that does still have power, you could charge the truck there and have power at home every day.
Yes. But it is unlikely that a power outage will be that strongly isolated. But hypothetically, yes

$72k+ for the long range battery with ZERO additional features......Holy crap that's insanely expensive
It needs a small APU on board to charge the battery pack. Ford did a great job applying all that technology and engineering, looks like a pretty cool package.
The tailgate tie down points are also bottle openers. It's nice to see how much of the regular F150 transferred to the Lightning models.
Thanks Ford, This 1 is Best Of The Best Trucks....
"Yes, Ford can ramp up production of the truck."
No.

I'm a Tesla owner. That F-150 lightning is an impressive vehicle.
You cannot speed charge the batteries at this time .The batteries at this time are not able to be fast charged they will exploide
Love it. Thanks Buddy!
I'd never consider a truck, but electric drive has made me want one. I won't because I'm European, but I want one.
Trucks are more and more common here.

Im just waiting on the re-match between ford and tesla's cyber truck once tesla gets to deliver one.
Tesla is way to much behind! Its game over for Tesla!
Rivian: "look at our truck"
Ford: "b*tch please"
Zack: "hold my beer.."
Ford (years ago) "buy into Rivian!.... See what tech we can "borrow" then pull out!"
the 9" clearance is a little bit of a concern for me....great vid.
Best thing about a Tesla is you NEVER get the final spec there is always a new feature on the way.
@@4literv6 Also a good point, though technically you should be able to already do that, right? I mean It has that 240V 30A outlet and can do 2.4 kW through the 120V outlets, just that alone could run most things in your house, so it'd require a bit of extra cable work, but I see no reason why you couldn't make that work without their expensive bidirectional charger or anything, unless they blocked it in some way.
aren't you going to open it up and check all components 😂

@@cchess57 Having solar panels on that thing and being able to charge your truck would eventually make everything off-grid! Amazing!
Imagine your gas tank shrinking 30% in 8 years.
"Modern" EVs are just a joke. Hybrids and plug-in hybrids are astoundingly superior vehicles.
