Please stop using the term first and second world countries, it's a very derogatory way of categorizing nations. The term " Other parts of the world" would be more appropriate.

After reading several books and papers about European philosophers' belief that only Europeans were the only humans who could excel in the sciences and mathematics, among other intellectual endeavors. The German philosopher Hegel for example was a most prominent German philosopher. Along with Kant and others in Europe they promoted fallacies about nonwhites' inability to excel in mathematics and other fields. Hegel was so certain that Africa had nothing to offer in the fields of intellectual achievement that he wrote extensively about the belief and remarked that Africa was not worth studying from an historical point of view.
Thomas Jefferson in America is another example of benighted thinking was certain that Blacks could not achieve anything in the way of science and mathematics even after he meant an African American mathematician and astronomer named Benjamin Banneker. Although Banneker showed Jefferson his mathematical ideas, Jefferson's ego and closed mind still couldn't accept the evidence presented to his face. Christianity and Judaism unfortunately had their respective Messages distorted and were forced to be incubators of racialist thinking, as was the case with Islam and other Religions of the past as well.
So many Black people's potential was stifled as a result of the spiritual disease of racialist thinking and racist policies. Thank God we're being led out of the Dark Ages of European philosophers jaundiced thinking and others of racist thinking, thanks to examples like what these young Africans are demonstrating in such convincing fashion.

as of writing this, Nigeria ranking in the International Mathematics Olympia is 0 gold, 0 silver, 5 bronze medals. They are so far far away from catching up to the IMO # one ranking, no it is not the USA lol
I find it incredibly irresponsible and ignorant of these reporters to draw this young girls achievement into the political conversation, she's too young for such pressure, but of course the average Nigerian folds their arms and waits for someonelse to solve their problems, faith is doing her part, do yours on your own time, and leave her alone.
