I was in Hayden walking towards the Costo across from Black Sheep and I was carrying my .1911 MC Operator when a deputy rolled up on me. He just simply asked me if that was a .1911 I was carrying and I say yes sir. He said good choice, waved at me saying to have a good day a drove off... Do that in California and your ass is going to jail. What's wrong with that picture... Now purchasing a firearm in California is a fucking joke. Now as of January 1st, 2024, you are now required to be audio and video recorded when you are filling out the paperwork. To top it off, it takes literally 35-45 minutes to get the paperwork done because they're either too slow and BSing with other folks there. Now I get it they're being extra careful due to government overwatch and FFL's are just trying to make sure the paperwork is done correctly. But Idaho is soo much better in regards to gun laws.... Can't wait to get back home there again this year...
I got pulled over last year because I didn't have plates on my new (to me) car and didn't know I was supposed to have the sticker in a certain place on the back window...I did my usual when asked to get my license and told him I've got a pistol concealed near my wallet, the trooper said, "this is Idaho, everybody's got a gun". I knew I moved to the right State at that point.
Laws that would do the same things are under consideration in the People's Republic of Washington. In addition to the highly invasive recording, which the FFL has to maintain for SIX YEARS, they would be required to empty their display cases EVERY NIGHT and lock everything in a vault. Can you imagine having to refill every case, every morning? And if you think about it, they're required to have cameras recording the cases. So 50% of the time, the cameras are going to be recording... empty cases.
I just hope the blue exodus doesn't contaminate Idaho like it has Texas, Tennessee and Florida. They leave their state because it's political policies make it impossible to survive then move to a red state and vote Democrat again not understanding why they had to move in the first place.
Well I have already noticed traffic is starting to suck in my area of Idaho. Even if the transplants are politically good or OK they bring their big city aggressive driving habits with them.
I live in Idaho. No complaints. I went to California to visit my niece. I was carrying illegally. Got home without incident. I had the creeps the whole time. I'll never go back. When I see the, "Welcome To California" sign, it reminds me of Checkpoint Charlie at the Berlin Wall. Now Entering The Communist Sector.
Hahaha, check point Charlie! Man that brings back memories. I actually went through there in the 80’s. (WARNING: Now leaving the American sector.). Good times! Sadly, I’m now living in “East Germanfornia.”
@@colt10mmsecurity68 Move to Idaho. We all bring our new firearms to work to show them off. California would be a beautiful state if it wasn't full of Californians. E. Germany probably had pretty scenery too.
@@robertsansone1680 Yeah Cali was great place to grow up in the 80’s. It was Reagan country. It is a very beautiful state outside of the big cities. Many of my friends from work retired and moved to Idaho. They said Treasure Valley is packed with California transplants. They even have traffic jams now! I worry about the libTARDs that are moving up there as well and will wreck it eventually. Maybe not now but in 10 or 20 years, the landscape will change.
I live in Wyoming, it is not unusual to see a 70 year old grandmother with a gun strapped to her hip. No one gives it a second thought. It’s nice living in a free state. I used to live in Illinois, the criminals have more rights there. The best view of Illinois is in the rear view mirror.
i was born in kentucky but had ended up in illinois for 20 years when i moved back to kentucky and went to agun store talking about waiting periods the guy there was like where didi you come from i was like i lived in illinois for 20 years he said that explains it me and my wife sis want to be close to our moms so we have moed to missouri alot closer to where there at but in a free state lol
I got carded getting a hotel once and thought what if next they card me for buying a gun in the future. Sold most of guns and moved to Mexico. Get carded if I go to the states but if I was not a US citizen I could just go though with out any problems.
When I renewed my CCP in Washington the renewal notice stated that 79% of gun deaths in the state are either suicides or accidental discharges. Last time I looked, America's suicide rate was within 1 point of Japan's, 17 vs 16 per 100,000. In Japan, virtually no citizens own guns. Suicidal people will commit suicide, regardless of the methods available, unfortunately.
They used the suicide claim here in Australia. After they took the guns the moderate suicide rate here went up and has stayed up . And the do good for your own safety fools are now about to start again.
I hate when they include suicide in "gun violence statistics" to inflate the numbers and say that America has high rates of gun violence. If that's the case then Asia has high rates of rope, charcoal, and sleeping pill violence.
Took a few minutes , and had to search on the exact words . The list in question is NOT a ranking comparing Gun Rights . It is specifically ranking Second Amendment Sanctuaries . The answer to the specific question is Missouri . For actual Gun Rights and Gun Freedoms - Yes . Idaho is very good . ( For now any way . But the population is low enough, that it won't take very many California / Seattle/ Portland escapee/ retirees to start switching part of the state purple .) Meanwhile , Yes Idaho is good for Gun Rights/ Gun Freedoms/ Gun Culture , but there's easily a half dozen states that are all good enough to be essentially indistinguishable .
I’m working on a 2 year plan to sell our houses in Washington and move to northern Idaho. I was born in Everett, WA in 1954, love western Washington. But Democrats have ruined it.
I grew up (born 1960) and lived my entire life in western Washington. I moved to Idaho, boise area, in 2020. It's the best move I have ever made. I love it here. It is truly a free state, when I go back to visit family I can feel the heaviness I never really noticed before I left. Idaho reminds me of Washington state of the 70's and 80's. I encourage you to work your plan and move to Idaho. I doubt you will regret it, I sure didn't.
I live in communist New Jersey. I have visited all 50 states. In 2018, I had the pleasure of visiting Idaho and got a flat tire. This is where I found the last of free America. The gas station was ATF franchise, because beside working on cars, they sold alcohol, tobacco, and firearms (actually only ammo). Please keep Idaho free and keep out California transplants.
California transplants is what ruined Oregon and Washington. Being a seventh generation Oregonian (family immigrated from Newfoundland) and about 70 years old, I remember open carry in my twenties in Salem with no problem even in the Fred Meyer store to buy ammo on the way to go hunting. Nowadays if you open carry some California transplant may call the cops with some ridiculous claims about you. We used to have signs and bumper stickers in the 60s and 70s that said, Don't Cailfornicate Oregon. The governor, Tom McCall, invited tourist from California to visit but not stay. That was for real! Miss those days.
You don't need to pass a background check on ammo, if you just steal it. That's what criminals do. Laws don't restrict criminals. They restrict the law abiding.

The fact that some states got away with suppressing the right to legally carry for so long is actually quite scary. How they were able to pull that off for so long really shows how we need to be wayyy more vigilant when it comes to protecting our constitutional rights. We need to be way more proactive, not reactive.
Unfortunately, many Americans have forgotten this one thing that Thomas Paine said to eloquently; "Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it."
Great point. Some states have no issue neglecting federal law, like sanctuary cities. If Texas has to take down their fence to let illegals in, then we can carry anywhere we want to protect our family.
I live in Idaho. We have relaxed gun laws, but we also have extremely low crime, friendly people and people leave their car and front doors unlocked without any theft occurring. Across the border in Washington, they have much stricter gun laws, but also have much higher violent crime, theft, drugs, poverty, homelessness, and if you leave your door open, you'll get robbed. If you park in the wrong neighborhood, someone will steal your catalytic converter.
@@889976889 Exactly! Liberals "feel" safe in some places, but common sense tells us non liberals that crap can happen anywhere and it is caused by bad people, who move around. Here in SoCal, we see people on our security cameras check vehicles often at night for cats or even during the day. The places that used to be nice here are not very far from the bad areas. Why risk it? If I lived in Idaho, I would still lock my belongings and use layers of security and carry all of the time......I just wouldn't need a permission slip from the rulers here to do it. Locking my vehicles and home is as easy as using my turn signal ALL of the time, which is as second nature as breathing. People just get very lazy and gamble or fail to consider others, both good and bad.
I live in NH and we have very similar gun laws. No restricted firearms other than federal NFA items. No magazine capacity limits and constitutional carry. I feel sorry for our neighbors from the south in the peoples republic of Massachusetts. They have some of the most restrictive firearm laws in the nation. I would never move to a state that did not respect the second amendment
It is interesting to see how the new conceal carry laws are sorting things out in Chicago. Most of the cities have seen a reduction in crime however many other states likely won’t follow suit
@@Topidahorealestate The crime rate goes down when conceal carry and 2nd amendment is respected. Up in the north here, northeast at least, the crime is far higher than it ever was due to the restrictions.

Oldtown Idaho here. I seldom carry for a grocery run, but any foray into an urban area or the woods sees my carrying something. Open or concealed depends on my mood for the day. I was exiting a gas station/convenience store when I encountered a liv who, noticing the SIG on my hip, sneered, "What are you afraid of?" I looked him up and down and replied, "Not much. And certainly not you."
Why not carry for a grocery run? Do bad people never buy or steal food? I live in komnifornia and always carry. The liberals think some places are safe, but they use emotion. There are only safer places, but bad people, or 4 legged critters can show up anywhere. Road rage is common here but can happen anywhere. Even if I lived in Idaho, I would enjoy exercising my right without the need for a permit.....I feel naked without because I am so used to it.
I am one who moved from Khaliforniastan to Idaho a bit more than 6 years ago with my kids and grandkids. The main reason to move was that we home school and Khaliforniastan hates home schooling but in Idaho it's a state constitutional right. When we go here, I got a job as a public school bus driver. One day I walked past the car of a fellow driver talking with another driver with his trunk wide open. In the trunk were probably at least 30 different styles of pistols and rifles which the guy had. Lots of others walked by as well and no one cared. The other thing which happened is that in the fall it was an election year. I was REQUIED to show ID to get a ballot (paper) and after filling it out was REQUIRED a second time to show my ID before putting it in the box. And oh, yes, a visit to DMV generally took about 20 minutes, not 20 hours. I love the freedom in Idaho, but that is under attack in Boise, in the legislature, Boise State College and by the Mayor of Boise, a supposedly avowed Marxist. We'll probably outlast the coastal states on both sides, but even in my own short duration here, the culture is definitely changing fast with influxes from the LA and SF areas. It saddens me greatly and I can understand why such people are deeply resented by many natives. It's exactly what I saw happen to the old California of my youth in a takeover by those on the East Coast...
Grew up in Wyoming, but Idaho is HOME!! Firearms danger in Idaho is, BY FAR, from criminals or newcomers who have not previously been identified locally as criminals!! Amen!! to the statement about "mountain" bikers!!
Just be aware that, if you are shooting your Form 4 approved machine gun, my experience has been that the ISP can be a bit ignorant of the legality of owning these weapons. I had one going crazy trying to call in field commanders and tactical teams. A sheriff’s deputy met the trooper and said, “I’ll just go talk to them.”
ISP in general are the worst. Our Sheriffs and their deputies are generally pretty awesome when it comes to this stuff. Where I am I would always try to get the Sheriffs office involved if I have a problem with local police or ISP regarding gun rights.
I don’t remember if it was a bonneville county deputy or a Idaho falls officer but I was looking at a FN Scar and while o was looking at it he came up to me and said don’t question it just buy it😂
I went to get my mail(the box is a half mile away). When I started my car, the radio didn’t come on. I got my mail, opened my hood, opened my fuse box and was looking for a blown fuse. I had my firearm on my side. A sheriff stoped to see if I need Ed help. He saw my sidearm, he asked what I had in my holster, I told him, he said “NICE!”. He told me to have a good day. I thanked him and said you have a safe, nice day as well.
Lifetime Idahoan here and a life member of the Idaho Second Amendment Alliance. They are a great outfit and are fighting very to keep improving our gun rights and keeping the gun controllers from violating our 2nd amendment.
Moved to Idaho from Poway CA in 1999. Lost my job at the saw mill in 2008 so ended uni in Clarkston WA because I needed to relocate to a larger city for work. Bought a Mobile home and needed a place to park it. Well WA was the only place I could find a lot. Gun laws were on par with Idaho just a little extra paper work for a hand gun. By 2019 the laws on guns got libtarded so by 2023 could not stand it and I move back into my mom's place. I had to be her care giver anyway so I got out of WA. I can buy what I want again and not putting up with that BS. I missed out on some really nice SKS rifles in great condition and price over WA's BS. If you move to Idaho don't bring your Californian BS with you. Do not support Rank Choice voting or you gonna end up like WA state.
California here! I’m very pro 2nd. Have own several firearms. Love the Idaho vibe. And yes, I voted for Trump. I don’t like him. But I agree with most of his policies. Now, as far as “don’t California my Idaho” mentality. I don’t think Idahoans have much to worry about. You see, I know plenty of liberals who are very anti gun, anti Trump and for some imaginary idea, they think that everything is just fine and dandy here in California. Now I know that it’s not. But I wouldn’t worry too much about liberals moving from California to Idaho. A few years back when I mentioned moving to Idaho, everyone laughed at me and asked “what are you going to do! Hang out with potato farmers”! So relax Idaho. Enjoy your beautiful state. Stay RED!
@@hectormartinez9657 The latest influx are blue state folks who thought the Covid Mandates that kept their kids out of school was too far and they moved out here. If you could tolerate all that bull from CA up to the mandates you are really not cut out for Idaho. You would have left long before.
People who have not lived behind enemy lines don't understand what it is like to be a patriot, libertarian, pro 2a person who votes red in these states. They assume we all voted for the crap we live under. The people in Idaho deserve joe biden since they must have voted for him.......right? No, you mean they didn't vote for him and yet still are stuck living under his rule? That is what it is like living in komnifornia. I do agree when they say not to vote liberal or like a "typical californian" when they do make it to a better state. At this point CA is a lost cause and we will be lucky if our nation isn't already a lost cause with how fast it is circling the drain. There are many people here who are into the shooting sports and who value freedom but most of the country just lumps everyone together as liberals when the elections and laws go that way for the state as a whole. If it wasn't for the laws and huge number of foreign people who live like this is some other country, it would be a nice place to live. When English is no longer the primary language while in many public places and the laws seem no better than a 3rd world country, it is easy to feel like this isn't even the USA any longer.
I feel your pain. Recently, while on an ocean bound fishing vessel, a large sea creature came on board and consumed ALL my firearms. I asked all my buddies what in the world was that, and they just chuckled that was Old Metalhead.😂
You always could carry a concealed firearm without a permit just a long as you were outside city limits, not concealed in your vehicle and that you were doing something “recreational”. When the sheriff’s voted they just eliminated all those. What a great state. Thanks sheriffs 👍
Yes that was a great move. It created too many nuances especially if you drive a lot from city to city. Not always easy to ascertain whether or not you are in city limits around here
that's not true. up until sometime in the 70's you were not allowed to carry a gun openly anywhere in Idaho unless you had a valid hunting license. somehow or another the issue wound up in the Idaho supreme court and the hunting license requirement was tossed on constitutional grounds.
Piece of advice. If you are an Idaho resident and are selling a handgun to a private buyer, make sure the buyer is an Idaho resident. write down the person's name and save it. You can only buy a handgun in the state in which you are a resident. This will keep you out of trouble if the person does something stupid with the handgun and the "authorities" come by to ask you questions about how you sold the handgun.
@@rockhopper01 In law it's defined that a seller must use their due diligence to ensure the buyer is a resident of the state. Asking the buyer directly if they are from the state counts as due diligence.
That’s only in an FFL transfer, private sales are exempt from that, unless they’re a felon, but there’s no real way to know that without a background check
I also had a policeman help me get into my truck when i locked my keys inside. He asked to see my license to make sure it was my truck while completely ignoring the pistol on my hip! Thats how it should be everywhere in this country!

Yes. I live in the San Francisco Bay area, and around here, I think you really need to have a gun. When I travel to Arizona (constitutional), I took my pistol with me, but never even considered carrying it -- at all.
Not for long the regime in the white house is dumping illegals all over the state to purposely destroy the demographics and to make it a permanent blue state just like they have done in CO NV NM WA OR CA. They have accelerated it due to the elections even MT is. being turned into a border state.
I went to the doctor the other day, she said “ oh you’re carrying “ I was like I forgot to leave it in the truck. She said “ no it’s fine in fact I don’t mind at all makes me feel safer here they don’t let us carry while we are working.”
I moved to Idaho from California over eight years ago. Idaho was like a breath of fresh air after putting up with California's bureaucratic BS. For instance even if you had a CCW permit, you still had to wait ten days when buying another firearm. Oregon and Washington are going the same way, so don't let the Libs get a foothold here. Once they get control they never let go.

As an Oregonian I can say BGC's can be pretty random. I personally have never had a BGC take longer than 10 minutes, and 10 minutes was only during the middle of the riots a few years ago. Usually it takes maybe 30 seconds to get an approval. But again, it depends on the person, some are instant some take a while.

I live in North Idaho and we get crime spill from Washington. This really had an uptick during the Plandemic because Idaho was open and Washington business were locked down. It got so bad that bars and restaurants in down town Coeur d'Alene started only serving Idaho residents for a few days until the city government, full of ex-Californians btw, threatened to pull their business licenses. Around the same time there was a shoot out at a local park by Washington residents shooting at other Washington residents over a drug deal. A popular shooting area in the forest near Hayden Lake is generally occupied by Washington plated vehicles because Washington is a police state, especially when it comes to guns. We don't mind them shooting here but these people tend to take trash out to shoot and leave it behind when they leave. I almost never shoot there, but when I do I always leave with a few trash bags full of the discarded trash of others, including Idahoans; this pisses me off. Idaho is nice because we vote conservative and the church benches are full. If you don't see your friends at church it's because they are hunting, fishing, or off-roading. If you don't like waving at strangers or knowing all of your neighbors Idaho isn't for you. If it makes you nervous to see firearms openly carried in the stores and restaurants, just know that there were ten you never saw because they were concealed carried. Idaho is a terrible place and should be avoided.
Very well said 🤝 the waving at your neighbors is a huge one for me. Born and raised in Idaho I’ve always waved at my neighbors and it is something not realized by newcomers. I don’t believe it is intentional, they just don’t realize it

After the tornados went through Bowling Green, Kentucky, my company was contracted to go clean one of the factories, this resulted in 91hr work weeks. With 51hrs of overtime every week, my checks were the largest in my life. Weeks go by and I kept going to Sherwood Firearms, an awesome store in the area, and kept looking at this maple Zastava M70. After researching it and looking at it multiple times, 3 months into the contract, I decided to pull the trigger. Given I was working 13hr days, 7 days a week, there wasn’t much time for me to mess around at gun shops. Thus, on my lunch break, I bought an AK. Drove there, bought it, and was a Zastava owner before my lunch break was over. Bing, bang, boom, that was fast. That was the most American hour of my life.
It makes perfect sense. If you already own a gun, why would you need a waiting period ? No one's going to spend money to buy a gun just to commit a crime.
I was talking to a guy from Tijuana about moving to Idaho. He said he was not interested because there were too many guns in Idaho. We talked about the HUGE difference in rates of violent crimes. He wasn't interested.
Wow that is interesting. I have talked to many people from different countries about guns in the US and they can't fathom what it is like and are very opposed to the idea of it. I suppose that when your entire knowledge or experience with firearms is shaped by Hollywood movies or video games then it is reasonable for there to be a detachment.
I grew up in the 50's & 60's in Texas. My mother had a small ranch south of Texas A&M. At that time, virtually every pick-up truck in Texas had a gun rack in the back window. It was normal for people to have at least a shotgun & a .22 rifle with them for hunting birds & rabbits, etc. Looking back, I remember taking guns to school to go hunting after class. I tell people from other states, I have lived in Id. for 25 yrs., that while Id. is a constitutional carry state I don't feel that I have to carry for self defense.
I got asked to leave a Costco in Metro Detroit for open carrying. They told me that it's part of the contract that you are not allowed to carry a firearm inside Costco.
I live in Hawaii. It's sooo restrictive to purchase a firearm. Step #1 is going to our local PD and fill out a Permission to Acquire form, for the county chief of police. You must be fingerprinted and photographed for a criminal background check and affirm by affidavit your mental health and lack of drug or alcohol addiction or criminal background. You authorize release of your medical history and give the name and address of your doctor. Your doctor is required to release any mental health information pertinent to your acquiring firearms. This process takes 14 days. Only after that passes can you then go to our local FFL and do the NICS background check and then make the purchase. Within 5 days we much register the firearm. If this is for multiple handguns, the process is repeated for each! I can smell the freedom in Idaho all the way here in Hawaii! :-) Great video. Great insight into Idaho's 2A lifestyle! Mahalo!
I’m in Mississippi and it’s about exactly the same here as in Idaho. I used to travel to southern Idaho a lot when I drove a truck for a living delivering livestock feed to a dairy near Burley. I always called Idaho the northernmost southern state because of the similarities between there and where I live. If I ever relocate it would be to Idaho.
I live in Arkansas and we have basically the same gun law as you do there and according to the Internet we have supposedly really bad gun crime but when you break it down and you take the suicides out of it and you take the gang related shootings out of it the numbers drop significantly
The waiting period in Oregon isn't really a waiting period. What happened is the state tried to pass all kinds of unconstitutional gun laws, only to have the courts come back and tell them they can't do that. So people had started panic buying and it overwhelmed the background check system. Aside from that, buying a gun in Oregon is the same as buying in Idaho. I have actually used my Oregon license to buy a shotgun in Idaho.
Took me 6 months to get my elk rifle last year in Oregon. Had to contact my State Representative to threaten the Oregon State Police which handles all the background checks and they purposely only employee 4 people to process all the background checks.
Montana is unfortunately barely conservative now, at least based off the last presidential election. Conservatives NEED to get out and mentor people. We NEED to educate Americans. We will lose this country to insanity and stupidity if we continue to do nothing.@@addmix
This is to me the BEST video I have seen you produce yet. I have known all of your points for some time, and as a California resident it is one more straw on the back of a broken down camel. I totally abhor the nanny state, all the laws, rules, restrictions, regulations, taxes, fees, and woke dog crap that this shithole has evolved into. Keep up the good work!
Buying 2 guns....I bought an AR-15 and a pistol grip 12 ga. pump. After passing the background check, I could walk out with my new AR-15 but, not the shotgun. The pistol grip was an "issue", so, I bought it stock and they gave me the pistol grip and showed me how to change it. #StupidLaws
There was probably another reason the Costco associate asked you to conceal carry - Costco policy prohibits firearms and other weapons to be brought into the warehouse, except in the case of authorized law-enforcement officers. Directly from the membership privileges/conditions page.
Seems to be a rash of tragic boating accidents in which firearms went overboard. So funny you mentioned that, because the same thing happened to me! Tragic indeed. Anyway, I'm (almost) a former Oregonian; Our 4-person family (me, wife, 2 kids) in process of locating property to purchase in the Idaho Falls/Shelley area. We're like 60 days from moving and I'm curious if you work any real estate outside of the Boise area? I've been subbed to your channel for some time now, definitely appreciate your videos.
As an Oregonian, the only time I've had to wait for purchasing a gun, is when there is a panic purchase situation happens. Then the State Police just get backed up. Normally I fill out the paperwork and by the time I've finished ringing everything up, I'm approved. Like you, I spend more time BSing than waiting for the approval.
The State Police no longer do those checks. You may longer get instant approval but no one has to wait weeks anymore. 16-40 minute wait for everyone now.
As an Oreganistan resident, I have never had a waiting period. Picked out the firearm, filled out the paperwork, got my approval, paid for the purchase, and out the door in as little as 15 minutes.
@@Topidahorealestate After 114 passed, there was a huge rush for many months, and during that time there were often BGC delays of up to a month. Many stores were simply reverting to the 3-day loophole and releasing the guns after 3 days even w/o a response to the BGC of a yes/no. But many big-box stores refused to do that and would only release the gun with an OK BGC response, which resulted in many people waiting for weeks.

This alone will show how different things are in that state. I grew up in Boise (late 70s early 80s), and as part of Junior High one of the required classes was a gun safety class. Which I think is a good thing, as being taught how to be safe around guns would prevent a lot of accidents. And when I was at Boise High I was in ROTC. And as part of the drill team, I had an actual M1903 issues to me as a drill rifle. I would take it home on the city bus, drive around town on my motorcycle with it, and even stop at the bank. And nobody gave it a second glance, the only thing the guard wanted to know is that it was unloaded (it was demiliarized and could not fire). We also had a rifle range in the basement of the school, and we would even bring real rifles in and it was actually a recognized sport. Is so unlike how things are in states like California.
Man that sucks hope your ok brother and ya you can buy more guns but if in a far left blue state you might be screwed to buy more lol I know a few that lost them in accidents not just boating neither
Kudos to Idaho!! I live in AZ and its very similar. I had a guy approach me in the grocery store from CA, and thanked me for carrying and said he would know who to go to protect him if someone came in and attacked him. Hes defenseless in his home state!!! Thank is just so sad and unconstitutional!
You've talked about 2nd Amendment and firearms ownership in Idaho during previous videos, but in this video you answered a number of questions I had about carrying firearms, buying and selling firearms, and hunting. 👍👍👍 When I was younger, I used to small game hunt in California's Central Valley. I haven't done that in many years, but I'd like to do it in Idaho, and I'd like to hunt big game for the first time. It's the same for fishing. Would you please tell me if Idaho has any restrictions on lead shot in shotgun shells? California requires the use of steel shot when hunting wildlife. By the way, a person isn't allowed to bring a firearm in a Costco store in the city where I live in California. I understand this is a nationwide policy for Costco, so they must have waived it in Idaho. 🤔
I’m glad i could answer those questions for you. You can use lead shotshells as long as you are not on a national wildlife refuge like deer flat. Also the same goes for water fowl but other than that, lead is totally legal here.
I have never seen or heard of a no guns policy in Costco in Idaho or any other state. That being said I cary consealed every where in Idaho including Costco. I have never open carried in Costco. I have open carried into Wal-Mart with in the last year with no issues. My brother works at wallmart and he sees people open carrieing all the time, hand guns that is. If an individual were to open carry a long gun or a braced pistol into a wallmart or other store in Idaho I would imagine that the cops would be called. What would happen after that I have no idea.
After I moved here from CA, I went through the Enhanced Concealed Carry course and got my Enhanced CC permit. I did it for reciprocity with other states that might travel to that reciprocate with this permit as well as eliminating any background checks while purchasing firearms. Works well. I think your assessment of gun ownership is pretty accurate. When I first moved here I decided I liked a piece of property, but wanted to understand more about flood plain issues and decided I would go down to the Army Corps of Engineers office and learn more about the area from a flooding perspective. My realtor asked if he could tag along and I said, "sure". When we pulled up in front of the federal building where the ACoE's offices were located, my realtor said, "would you mind if I stored my gun in your truck? It is illegal to carry it in a federal building." I was pretty surprised, here is a businessman out on a trip with his client and he was still carrying, I really respected that, every day no matter what.
Lived in the Boise area for 17 years, people moving to ID from CA, please leave California in California, stops trying to change ID, i keft over a decade ago because of the waves of Californians moving there and runnibg it into the ground. Keep Idaho beautiful and free
I live in Oregon and recently purchased a revolver. It took about fifteen minutes to complete the purchase. You may be referring to measure 114 which has been struct down in federal court. No i.d. required to purchase ammo. There is apparently some misinformation.
There is no waiting period in Oregon. The only holdup when purchasing a gun is waiting for the background check which can take up to ten days but the gun store can give you the gun if nothing has come back after three days.
As a kid I went to the Boise gun show, probably 1990. I remember seeing a vendor selling matched sets of tec-9's and all that was necessary was an ID. Wish i had enough to buy a set.
I almost lost my guns in a boating accident, in the desert! But here in Californiastan, you're CCW permit has the serial number of every weapon you're allowed to carry.
I live in Spokane washington and every time We go to Idaho every one and thing seems nicer and friendlier. It sucks having to go back across the border, its like check point charlie (Berlin wall for the youngsters). We even had a WA state patrol stop us to ask if We had purchased any alcohol, cigarettes, ammo, guns, or magazines. (All cheaper in ID) While we were in Idaho, one time after crossing back into washington. We can't wait to move to North Idaho.
I had no idea that "mountain bikes" were used quite like the racing through the forest video shows. Perhaps that sport should be called "trolling for trees"?!!
I live in Colorado and our guns were good, until recently. We still have “make my day” law, concealed carry in businesses that post no guns. However, we now have magazine capacity restrictions, universal background checks, waiting periods, wolf introduction. They’re talking about outlawing mountain lion hunting, adding a 6.5% tax on ammo, etc. Wyoming or Idaho are looking pretty attractive. Actually, there’s something beautiful about the flat prairie of Kansas.
I’m disappointed to see the introduced tundra wolves into Colorado, which was largely opposed. Idaho wouldn’t agree to send wolves to Colorado because it has been such a catastrophe here. More and more rules against predator hunting will lead to the downfall of hunting all together. Ballot box voting for conservation has been a catastrophe.
@@Topidahorealestate oh, I forgot that the Governor wants to bring in wolverines. I don’t get the fascination with predators that this government has. I swear that if they could then they’d do the “Jurassic Park” thing, and get dinosaurs’ DNA from mosquitoes trapped in amber, just to bring back more predators.
I’m from Texas and have had a LTC even before we got open carry. I was in Oregon which is not a reciprocity state but had open carry oddly enough. I never saw anyone open carrying. As asked a local police officer about open carrying at the local mall. He was confused and had to look up the law not knowing open carry was legal. He said if I carried he would surely get a call to investigate and have to “ask” me not to do that.
I’m going to really blow your mind. When I went to high school we would mount our rifles and shot guns in the back window of our trucks…….and drive to, and park at school with them still in there, never thought twice about it. That was just 40 years ago.
Not all of us fleeing will ruin the state. I'm in Oregon and planning to move to Idaho because I'm a fan of freedom and want my vote to mean something, and i love guns. Oregon is becoming a dumpster fire
Just yesterday i was in Walmart and noticed the lady next to me was open carying a pistol through the store... After a while, you dont even notice them anymore.
Your info on Oregon is incorrect. There is NO additional waiting period for any gun. The only real difference is that we do get run through a system that Oregon State Troopers oversee. I’ve bought at least a half dozen guns of all types over the last year and every time was granted instant approval. Not once did the whole paperwork and approval process take more than 15-20 minutes. For a period of time there was a huge backlog due to the liberals in a Portland voting in measure 114 but that has been struck down and there is no longer an issue
3:33 Try and do that same research in Canada, it is an absolute sh*t show up here. We can own hand guns here, but we need permits to move them from our house to the range, and you better not stop for gas or a pack of beer between your house and the range. It is absolutely ridiculous.
That is a great Idea. I'll definitely consider putting that in a following video. I do have many contacts outside of the US and they definitely have different views on the subject than I do. I guess that's what happens when you have 100 years of anti gun propaganda stuffed down your throat. We come to a generation where, even the oldest relatives don't remember a time when firearms were commonplace.
The California CCW law has already been enjoined If every gun owner in NY moved to another state, we would never have gotten a Bruen decision But some people don't have any fight in them so they puss out
Thank you for the content. Entertaining and informative. It showed up randomly in my recommendations and, simply curious, watched it. Glad I did. Greetings from Georgia! 🙂
As someone who lives in California, I have the privilege of living in one of the most beautiful geographically diverse states in the union. It also has one of the most politically corrupt and oppressive governments in the union. There are a lot of good Americans here. Most of the counties are red. And most of those who live in these counties are constitution loving, law abiding citizens. The ones with the means to leave do so as soon as possible. There are definitely some turds running from the politics they voted for, but most are retired law enforcement, small business owners and regular people fleeing the dumpster fire they didn’t start, and were powerless to stop. So be kind to them and keep an open heart. They are refugees, forced to flee the homes they once loved. Those of us who are still here, we continue to fight, though we are mostly broken and feel hopeless. So be thankful for what you have. And hold on to it with unwavering ferocity. Because the poison which has infected California, is coming for you next.
Don't bring your california voting record here. Come here and be an Idahoan. Stop trying to get starbucks on every corner. Stop calling the cops because someone is carrying a firearm during hunting season (or any other time). Stop moving to a small town and then try to make it a big town. You want to move here because we are free and because Idaho has charming small towns. Don't ruin that.
You made a very good point regarding bike trails. It behooves both parties to aware of their location, and if that land is an official state recognized trail or used to Hunt. I'm your neighbor, I'd never go ripping around Eastern Oregon, that's where my family has gone to hunt for years.
I moved from CA to ID a couple years ago. While yes the gun laws there are awful, the paperwork itself is the same as here in Idaho but then you have the 10 day wait period. But I'm not sure where you're getting the "drawn out process to get the firearm...that could take months" thing from. I never experienced anything like that buying a gun in CA. It was basically the exact same process as here in ID besides the 10 day wait period. (but of course the selection of guns sucks to compared to more free states lol)
You failed to mention anything about where you can't carry concealed which is almost anyplace .thats if you can get a cup. I don't remember anything in the constitution about needing a Permit to carry. I think instead it says shall not be infringed.
It out of state then and do t declare them if they asked later tell them I sold it to a private owner 😂
That is awesome to hear. More first hand stories with the lifestyle here.
That is awesome!

The Blue Exodus is already impacting Idaho. Ten-fifteen years from now it'll be California 4.0 if things don't stop.

It is a very unfortunate truth.
That's is a flat out lie, criminals are the reasons for the most gun related deaths. Don't let them brain wash your and others.

I hate when they include suicide in "gun violence statistics" to inflate the numbers and say that America has high rates of gun violence. If that's the case then Asia has high rates of rope, charcoal, and sleeping pill violence.

For actual Gun Rights and Gun Freedoms - Yes . Idaho is very good . ( For now any way . But the population is low enough, that it won't take very many California / Seattle/ Portland escapee/ retirees to start switching part of the state purple .)

The fact that some states got away with suppressing the right to legally carry for so long is actually quite scary. How they were able to pull that off for so long really shows how we need to be wayyy more vigilant when it comes to protecting our constitutional rights. We need to be way more proactive, not reactive.
Unfortunately, many Americans have forgotten this one thing that Thomas Paine said to eloquently;
"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it."
Great point. Some states have no issue neglecting federal law, like sanctuary cities. If Texas has to take down their fence to let illegals in, then we can carry anywhere we want to protect our family.
Commyfornia.. you can't have a gun but illegals smuggle in (openly) 10,000 guns a month.

It is a truly tragic Scenario crippling the 2a space 😂
You always could carry a concealed firearm without a permit just a long as you were outside city limits, not concealed in your vehicle and that you were doing something “recreational”. When the sheriff’s voted they just eliminated all those. What a great state. Thanks sheriffs 👍
Yes that was a great move. It created too many nuances especially if you drive a lot from city to city. Not always easy to ascertain whether or not you are in city limits around here
@@Topidahorealestate yup.
that's not true. up until sometime in the 70's you were not allowed to carry a gun openly anywhere in Idaho unless you had a valid hunting license. somehow or another the issue wound up in the Idaho supreme court and the hunting license requirement was tossed on constitutional grounds.
Or you could just invoke your 4th and 5th and not speak to them.
The problem with your advice is that there is no way “to make sure” the buyer is an Idaho resident. None.
@@rockhopper01i mean, you could look at their drivers license…… but why
@@rockhopper01 In law it's defined that a seller must use their due diligence to ensure the buyer is a resident of the state. Asking the buyer directly if they are from the state counts as due diligence.
That’s only in an FFL transfer, private sales are exempt from that, unless they’re a felon, but there’s no real way to know that without a background check
I also had a policeman help me get into my truck when i locked my keys inside. He asked to see my license to make sure it was my truck while completely ignoring the pistol on my hip! Thats how it should be everywhere in this country!
Sounds like the # 2 best firearms laws
@jason3211 wyoming, we offer constitutional carry to non wyoming residents in our state
Guns & Ammo ranks Idaho as #1 best in firearms laws. Arizona is #2.
Why is Arizona #2 I live in Arizona and I can open carry into a bank or hospital and nobody says shit to me. The law allows it unless the business does not.
@@andypeterson8013 AZ was #1 on the G&A rankings for something like 11 years. I think the just got tired of giving the #1 rank to AZ.
@@jason3211 It depends what your into and how much money you have. Alaska has to be the ultimate for outdoors men if you're wealthy I imagine living on the beach in Hawaii or Laguna CA is pretty nice.
I live in the Ozarks and our gun laws are very similar to yours. I remember going to a gun show that they have every other month, I had an AK I was looking to trade, walked up and paid the nice lady my cover charge, I was putting my money away while walking and not really paying attention. I got about 3 tables deep and looked up only to realize I was in a rock and mineral show. People were pretty quiet. They changed the dates and I was on autopilot and didn’t realize it. I went back to my truck and locked my AK up and went back in and had a good time. There was a guy there that was at flint knapping.

Regarding safety in the field: It's vary rare that one mistake will kill anyone, but if someone _else_ making a mistake will get either of you killed, then *you* already made the first mistake.
Agreed
the irony is you dont even need to carry concealed in idaho because its so safe
Yes. I live in the San Francisco Bay area, and around here, I think you really need to have a gun. When I travel to Arizona (constitutional), I took my pistol with me, but never even considered carrying it -- at all.
Except for the wolves
Exactly. That’s one of those chicken and egg deals
I still do though…. It’s always better to be safe than sorry
Me getting weighed at the doctors with 2 guns and 4 mags on me
Reminds me of the meme, Doctor: "Do you have any firearms in the home?"
Me: "I have two guns in your office."
You are definitely not alone in feeling that way
Stuck in Commifornia and love your video on Idaho gun laws. It’s crazy the bs we go through to exercise our 2A rights or lack there of here in CA. I hope and pray Idaho stays free and the libtards don’t destroy your state too!!! 🙏🏻🇺🇸✌️
So Cal here. I absolutely love the land of California, but I detest the politics here. Everyone try's to leave for another state but that only makes things worse because no is left to contest Woke Liberalism.
@@Zachary77 Fighting the CA Commie machine is futile. After 54 years in what used to be beautiful SoCal, I left for free America in North Idaho permanently last year. You can smell the freedom here. Good luck, brother.
I was "stuck" in Commifornia too. But I moved to Idaho anyway - left all my friends and family behind. It just depends on how bad you want it.
Dang, I love this place and I don't even live there. Yet. Keep a spot ready for me. Once I get my finances squared up, you'll have another gunsmithing company in that state.

As an Oregonian I can say BGC's can be pretty random. I personally have never had a BGC take longer than 10 minutes, and 10 minutes was only during the middle of the riots a few years ago. Usually it takes maybe 30 seconds to get an approval. But again, it depends on the person, some are instant some take a while.
never move to oregon. it is the absolute worst place. we have lice and ticks every where, and almost 50% republicans. icky yucky place. we don't respect pronouns either
WA has gone crazy on gun laws infringing the 2A over the past 10 years, especially since 2018!
Unfortunately there is likely more to come
Stricter than California.
WA was lost the moment KKKomrade Locke ignored the vote of the people to build the stadium.
I’ve lived in Washington my whole life, and they have ruined my state, I’m trying to find an escape to another state. The madness needs to stop.
I don’t believe it is intentional, they just don’t realize it
Washington resident here living in Idaho for school. I too have taken contractor bags full of trash out (although I blame Californian’s) from BLM areas. This is what caused most of our public areas to be closed. It’s the shooter, not the sportsman.
My apologies for the crude and rude fellows of my current state of WA, coming over and making messes and trouble. My once decent state has been Californicated and turned into a flaming leftist dung heap. I pray that you are able to avoid this states fate.
Best gun laws you mean.
That's why I'm moving to ID. Now about this S&W vs Glock thing...

If you live in CA, NEVER buy a firearm from Sportsman's Warehouse. They SUCK.

I tell people from other states, I have lived in Id. for 25 yrs., that while Id. is a constitutional carry state I don't feel that I have to carry for self defense.
we had the same thing in Oklahoma. we used to take our .22s on the school bus. we had to keep them in the janitors closet during school though.
You hit the nail on the head. You have the right to carry here but many people don’t feel the need to because of how safe it is
*Never forget Ruby Ridge!*
Great video. Great insight into Idaho's 2A lifestyle! Mahalo!
the 2nd amendment is the only one that ends with "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" California #1 for safety in gun violence- wow that is a blatant lie!
Exactly, but they don’t want you to know that. Other wise they have a harder time convincing you to give up your rights
Wow that is absurd. Sorry to hear about that. Glad that you ended up getting it. What chambering did you go with?
Idaho is freedom
Or at least as close as can be attained in current year.

That’s great to hear. It sounds like the information I got was in the wake of 114 which is where the confusion was. I’m glad to hear it got shut down.

I grew up in Arizona during the 60’s and 70’s. Many of my classmates moved to Idaho and Montana. Awesome to see why.
I’m so sorry to hear about the boating accident. I had the same thing happen to me here in New Jersey.

Only if CA would adopt this way of thinking.
Costco has the same policy in Idaho, but no gun signs have no force of law in Idaho so we carry in Costco anyway.

Please dont move to Idaho
Don't come to Idaho if you vote blue and are a dumbass. Simple as that.

I live in Oregon and recently purchased a revolver. It took about fifteen minutes to complete the purchase. You may be referring to measure 114 which has been struct down in federal court. No i.d. required to purchase ammo. There is apparently some misinformation.
That is good to hear. When I was there about a year ago it was during the wake of 114. I’m glad to hear it got kicked

The California CCW law has already been enjoined
If every gun owner in NY moved to another state, we would never have gotten a Bruen decision
But some people don't have any fight in them so they puss out

@@ronskancke1489 That was irrelevant to what I was saying but yes
I moved back to Idaho in 2019 from California after 30 years. What a breath of fresh air.
