Thank you SO much for posting this! Monty and Elizabeth were the perfect fit and it's lovely to hear her speak about him. If you have anything else, please share it! They will forever be missed but never forgotten.
❤ What great chemistry Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift have together. She said they were forever friends and soulmates. I hope they are together in the afterlife, making more great golden age of Hollywood films. 🎬 😎
When she spoke of her attention to Monty's acting, it felt as if she was 17 again and you could sense the passion and how she was in the moment. Mesmerizing moment.
Thank you Richard, I have never seen this before. A Place in the Sun was a very good movie. Elizabeth, Monty, and Shelly Winters were brilliant in their parts. Raymond Burr was also very convincing. Did Shelly win an oscar for her role ?
Fascinating to hear Elizabeth talk about her thought process at 17 years of age, that acting wasn't just "cut" and hit your marks, and she learned all this from watching the great Montgomery Clift and listening to George Stephens. I adored Elizabeth Taylor and feel she was truly underrated as an amazing artist. Only a handful of people who knew her seemed to realize how how she worked on her roles.
This interview is on the "A Place in the Sun" dvd in the 'extras'. It's a beautiful movie if you haven't seen it...Monty and Liz...just stunningly gorgeous.
I could listen to her for hours, what a beautiful lady. The same with Michael Jackson, his talking voice (and singing voice) was gorgeous. I bet she misses him so much, as we all do. Its great that she is still alive and strong,...what a lady!!
An other great interview/featurette. Thank you so much for sharing this clip with us Rich. Elizabeth looks beautiful in her interview. I loved her hairdo. :) Do you know which years this interview is from? When I see it I can't help but thinking that there's been so many missed opportunities for her to do movies in the 1990s and 2000s. :(
Great clip and an interview I haven't seen before. Some of my favorite videos that you've posted have been interviews that Elizabeth has done over the years. Please add those as you can, it's so great to see the real woman in an interview. I enjoy the clips of films but I can watch the films again and again. The interviews are virtually impossible to come by and you seem to have some wonderful sources. Please continue to share these rare glimpses of Elizabeth with us all. Terry
@richardbassett1956 Thanks Rich, I think the fact that I can't tell if it's 1990s or 2000s just proves how good Elizabeth looks in the interview! It's hard to tell her age! ;)
please, could you add text line (english subtitles)? Please? Because of my disability i can't understand spoken text. Many thanks. However, compliments for this wonderful video. And thank you, so much.
All her fans do. She was everything a star should be. Stunning beauty. Strength, sensitivity, loyalty to those she loved. A real treasure. Not the rubbish we have today like the Kartrashians
Wait, wait, wait, Ms. Taylor told Barbara Walters the same first kiss story verbatim, only the film was Cynthia. Guess it's more exciting for this interview to say the first on screen kiss is Monty Clift in 1949 and not James Lydon in 1947. Oy Vey. Gosh you can't believe any of what these people say.
ELIZABETH TAYLOR IS VERY GOOD IN CHOOSING SCRIPTSTO MAKE GOOD FEATURE FILMS. STEVE MCQUEEN'S WIFE IS ALSO KNOWN AS QUITE GOOD IN DOING THAT, AND THAT HELPS MCQUEEN A LOT. MCQUEEN'S WIFE IS NOT SUCH A JEALOUS WOMAN, FOR MCQUEEN WAS PAIRED WITH JACQUELINE BISSET, IN ,"BULLIT", QUITE A BEAUTIFUL AND POPULAR ACTRESS, , AT THAT TIME, AND SHE ACTED VERY WELL, BUT MCQUEEN'S WIFE NEVER FELT ANY JELOUSY AT ALL.
I don t think so, there were fully in love with each other , but monty was gay and it was an impossible love, they were soulmates, i think he was her big love with richard burton. There is an book written à few years ago,, about their friendship i don' t remember the title.
I still have those interviews from 1986-1997 but posting them isn't as easy as it once was. RUclips has changed some policies and now that google owns RUclips....you can't take away from the market value of video's. Say Oprah wanted 'The Best of Oprah' and my Oprah and Liz interviews are on line. You decrease the value. RUclips use to look the other way. They can't do that now so, as for films...I can 'tease' with a trailer, or tells photo stories. Things are limiting now.
All the documentaries I've watched presented him as being homosexual. Who really knows ? All that aside, he was a brilliant actor. If you've never seen him in "Judgement At Nuremburg" he is amazing in a very small part. And, of course, his torment in "A Place in The Sun" is almost palpable. A true genius.
I believe Monty Clift denied he was gay on the Hy Gardner Show....Elizabeth Taylor is more interesting to me...as I believe she is an unacknowledged lesbian...big time...still, it`s all about Hollywood...
@@brigittebeltran6701 she had an affair actually with Marilyn Monroe and other women. Try finding a Documentary regarding with that. I’ve seen it. There was talk about the Men Actors that was also gay and where she was mentioned about sleeping with a couple or some women too.
@@goodvibes7424 She never had an affair with MM!!! Marilyn DESPISED Elizabeth and wouldn't even allow her photo to be next to hers on magazine covers! They only associated briefly during the time Eddie played in Vegas. Marilyn hated her and Jayne Mansfield as well. Marilyn did anything to get to the top, while Elizabeth was in very high demand. Marilyn hated Jackie too, but Jackie found her hysterics amusing, retorting, "You want Jack? You can have him, and the job that goes with it." OF course MM was murdered soon after that...Her BFF Jeanne Carmen reported Marilyn wanted to climb to the top and didn't care how she'd do it. Elizabeth and Jackie were already there.
they certainly made a drop dead gorgeous couple on screen
In real life, this movie was horrible..

Can one ever get enough of Elizabeth Taylor ....
No matter how time changes us All .... thanks be, for the Golden age of a Real Movie Star !
She was something else wasn't she. Their will never be another Elizabeth Taylor.
She was. Incredible beauty and strength and sensitivity in one dynamite package. Would have loved to have known her.

She loves him. She still had that shyness and teenage dreamy looks on her face talking about kissing with Monty.

that's because people were obsessed with her beauty.

Elizabeth was the most famous woman in the world. She was the first celebrity of the modern age in my view.
The last diva of classic Hollywood. RIP from Italy great lady.
This is one of the best scenes in the movie.
Wow, I can't believe she's gone. *tears*

Liz is more beautiful dark haired than blonde. This clip proves it.
Elizabeth Taylor was a genius, a prodigy, a beauty, not of this world.
I know Liz had beautiful black hair but her wig looks great on her. The color, reddish auburn. Just lovely.
Clift was so good in this. How good? Brando voted for him as best actor, over himself as Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire.
Thank you. I 'get' Elizabeth Taylor.

did nothing really happen between liz and monty? was it really just a brother/sister love? or nobody knows?!?

There is an book written à few years ago,, about their friendship i don' t remember the title.
According to recent bio and other sources, they were once platonic and then went further than that.
...or make me find this text..?

What happened her voice, it got very nasally as she got older.
@Karsch100 That would be 2001 Karin
@Karsch100 That wouls be 2001,
Was she in love with Monty ?
They loved each other as dear friends. Liz knew about Monty's sexual preference, but they were great friends until the end.

wasn't he bisexuell ?

Wasn't it a problem being homosexual at this times in general and in Hollywood as an actor too ?
Janis Bryant
May I ask where you live in which country ?
talent? tick. good looks? , tick.
Liz doesn't look her best in this interview. She looked unusually disagrable!

He didn't deny or confirm, that was Monty. He didn't believe his sexual preference was anyone's business.

Elizabeth a lesbian??? That's insane!!! No one loved men more than she did... and had one with her 24/7. You are 100% wrong!
