I just made a pompom rug for Christmas for my neice.....by hand, no pompom maker! It was torturing! I vowed never again will I make a pompom rug. I might have just changed my mind! I detest making pompoms mainly because of the mess and the waste. With this pompom maker there was neither! Thank you very much for your wonderfully helpful tutorial!

OMG...first, kudos to you for making a pom pom rug without a pom pom maker! That takes dedication!
Second, this pom pom maker was easy to use. The fullness of the pom pom depends on how thick your yarn is and how many wraps you do around the maker...but all in all...most of my finished pom pom's need very little trimming because of the standard size and shape of the maker ;-)

I have similar Pom-Pom makers. Mine are from Knitting Loom and make these sizes: 3.8cm, 4.8cm, 6.8cm and 8.8cm. They come in a sturdy package and at a decent price. My daughter June wants me to make her a Pom-Pom rug.

I’ve used this Pom Pom maker and really liked it, this maker requires little trimming. But twice the Pom Pom fell apart and I wrapped the yarn around three times. But I think I’ll try the tread. The yarn I used to tie it might have been slippery. The Pom Pom was sooo perfect n required min trimming thanks for the tread idea 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽‼️👌🏿

I have a question. I’ve made a few hats with Pom poms. I usually say to hand wash because I’m afraid it will come apart in the wash. What’s your experience with the hand made ones. Do they hold up to being washed?

You know, I always handwash anything with a pom pom too.

When I make Poms they fall apart. Meaning, I can just simply pull out the yarn from the finished Pom. I do tie really tight. What can I do to prevent it? I tried adding glue in the middle but it only secures those pieces with the glue. I thought about adding glue while I am wrapping it around the Pom maker, however I am afraid it will get stuck on the Pom maker and will not be as fluffy once I shake it. Any suggestions...anybody?
