Same exact story for me, I'm a Polish person who went to USA for 3 years when I was around 9 or 10 years old. My grandma lives there. Me and my family lived in the downstairs part of her house. She put the tree right next to the top of the staircase during Christmas. It looked like a normal tree so when the eyes and mouth came out I was spooked. I always crawled while entering her living place and I always did stuff in her bedroom because the tree was in the living room. Also it was so loud... my bedroom was right under the area where the staircase ends and I would always hear muffled Christmas songs whenever someone went there. I couldn't sleep. Now I'm 15 and this isn't scary but I have some bad memories.

I modified my Douglas Fir to have green LED lights instead of Incandescent lights. As part of my Douglas fir 20th anniversary restoration. The gears that are split are now replaced

I don’t collect Gemmy stuff but I do have respect for collectors and I see how people find value in these things I wonder if when gemmy started out if the thought they would have people collecting there stuff…
1. I like the higher voice a bit better. The green eyes are prettier than the orange eyes. The mouth looks really silly, but that’s okay. 2. Again, the higher voice is more pleasant to listen to. The orange eyes, though, are not that great-looking IMO. Silly mouth, but that’s okay. 3. Obviously same as 2. 4. The lower voice is okay but I like the first ones better. Green eyes are pretty. The rounded appearance kinda reminds me of the Chuck E. Cheese’s animatronics, in particular 3-stage Mr. Munch, which I find cool. 5. I enjoy the higher voice a bit more. It looks like he’s having eyelid troubles, though (unless maybe this is just a weird angle or the eyes are supposed to be closed most of the time). 6. Orange eyes are not great, and the voice sounds extremely distorted half the time, but the trunk movement looks awesome. 7. This one is super cute! 8. This one is pretty cute, too, but not as cute as 7. 9. The eyes are a pretty green color, but the blinking is making too much noise, and the eyeballs are super small. It’s a little like the “small eye variant” at some CEC locations, which some people think is cuter, but I think it looks like Chuck has some sort of skin issue. Plus the mouth is...strange. Not silly. Just strange.

Now that I'm older though, I think they're kind of cute and always save one if I find one at a thrift store or other second hand store, I now have 3 of my own

When I was around 2 I got traumatized by one of these things at a supermarket, only I remember it being huge. I asked Mom years later if it was actually small and I just remembered it being huge because I was 2 and tiny, but she confirmed that it was a full size Christmas tree. But I can't find evidence of one anywhere... which means they were either really rare, or that was an actual demon in the supermarket. It's one of those dumb questions that sometimes comes back to keep me up at night for dumb reasons. Thanks.
