If i remember correctly Roxanne Shante was the first female rapper that had a hit song in 1984 called Roxannes Revenge,,in which was a diss track response to UTFOS hit song called ROXANNE ROXANNE....However,,she never had expensive marketing behind her,,neither did she have a high tech expensive music video for the song.....However,,Roxanne Shante did make a video for roxannes revenge,,but despite it being a cheap low budget video,,it was still a very good song and video in my opinion....Afterwards in 1985,,another female rap artist name Elease Jack did a hit feature on UTFOS remix of their original hit song called ROXANNE ROXANNE,,but Elease and UTFOS buisness relationship did not work out,,leading to UTFO deciding to replace Elease with another female name Joanne Martinez,,who then took on the stage name The Real Roxanne.......That being said,,MC Lyte came out in 1987,,and she was the first female rap artist that had a high tech expensive music video,,as well as expensive marketing and promotion behind her.....Respect 💯
