@@mickbowe4252 so is ignorance my brother. But that's ok,most people that have never been through anything like addiction will never get it!!! I would love to explain it to you but it would require us to sit down and have an honest and open discussion because it can't be explained to you in one sentence over RUclips. But I'm not even going to waste my time &breath educating anybody,if you want to know how you can be considered clean while on Methadone there is plenty of information about methadone and the opioid addiction out there - google it!This is not a personal attack, but I'm telling you if you never experienced it you don't get it.I'm asking you before you make close minded assumption educate yourself. This is the issue that we're having with addiction, the stigma of it continues because we have close minded people judging and talking about it like they know what they're talking about, yet they don't have the slightest clue because they never been through it.I don't understand how people can judge a situation they have never been through from an outside point of view? But that's ok,those kind of people you need to leave in the dust. In recovery it's so important to have people in your life that support you and are positive and if they're not, don't dwell on it, don't give them a second thought, leave them behind because they will not help you in or with your recovery. People like that will drag and keep you down& make you second guess your shit and you can't afford that. And don't let their judgement affect you in any way especially people that you don't even know, they aren't even in your life why would you care what they think or have to say!!!My suggestion to my brothers and sisters, continue on your way to sobriety whichever way that may be or whatever program works for you.If it works for you & keeps you straight that's all that matters, don't give up & I love y'all

My god, I wish I could find a pain doctor like one of these guys... It's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get anything other than hydrocodone in Kentucky. I've been to several doctors and pain clinics and all I've ever been given is norco and a muscle relaxer. I finally got tired of trying to find a Dr that cared and enrolled at a methadone clinic. Since that, my quality of life has gone WAY up. My pain has been manageable ever since I found my stable dose. The only downside is that it costs $300 per month... It beats trying to make someone who doesn't really care what happens to you, care how you feel. These guys seem legit though.

Best description I have ever read of the hell that is methadone withdrawal. Came down from 135 mgs. to current 22 mgs. and spend half of every 24 hour period so tired I can no longer do simple, needed things for myself, my family and my animals. They all look to me to hurry up and get off so I can get back to being everything to everybody, but I feel I simply have nothing left to give any of us. Raising my husband's grandchildren while he works out of town...he's on it too, and says he will quit as soon as I finish. In "half the time." So far he hasn't reduced one milligram and sleeps round the clock if he's not at work.

The pain relief from methadone can be remarkably subtle and since it has such a long half-life it can take days, weeks, or even months or years to realize how much benefit it is providing for pain relief and even then it’s often through discontinuing dosing that you realize what it was doing for you. But the issues with detox and the overwhelming pain and discomfort it causes can confuse this issue.

Being on methadone has shown me how unstable I was and how much I depended on whatever substance I can get my hands on, especially fent. My dose in the morning with my cup of coffee is all I need. Once I feel like I've straightened out more in life I will definitely taper down. For sure though I will no longer allow myself to feel guilty for taking care of MY well being. Coming on a year now and it's amazing the difference.

Methadone definitely saved my life. Started on 30mg and over the course of a year and a half I got down to 1mg. June 24th, 2021 is officialy the day I quit methadone. I didnt have bad withdrawal symptoms at all! Maybe some mind fog on day 3 and a mild fever that was on and off for about 7 days. I know I was never on a high dose so I cant speak for everybody, but my suggestion would be to very cautiously raise your dose. Goodluck to anybody fighting addiction! Just know that you're not alone !!

Thank you for this encouragement Ruskey! So if I may ask you did you ween down really slowly to get to the 1mg dose? I am at a clinic that will only go as low as 5(so they say their machine only goes that low) and I KNOW that I would have to cut a 5mg dose in half....and so on and so on. So what I'm asking is how long did you stay on 1mg? I REALLY want to get off this stuff. Thank you so very very much friend.

    • @EyesonEnforcement911

@@frankardos4211 You got this! So I tried going down 1mg a week. Once I got down to my last 5mg it took a bit slower, like going down 1mg every 2 weeks or so. I actually only stayed on 1mg for like 2 days. I was on 2 mg and just got so fed up with it and just decided it's time to quit. Never looked back since! Even at 5mg, it's very doable. Ask your pharmacist if they can add 5mg methadone to a cup (since its the minimum) and use a syringe to get lower doses. If you have any more questions or concerns feel free to let me know!

Im in loads of pain every day from a six car pile up on the interstate. For 10 years Ive been on 90 mg of oral morphine daily but when we relocated to Texas after retirement from the military we were turned away by our selected pain clinic. Others wouldn’t even see me. Said they did not prescribe opioids. I cant get anything but gabapantin and toprimate. Addicts apparently have access to endless supplies of methadone because its just too hard to completely quit? So for the last few months, like everyone that was prescribed opioids for chronic pain and then cut off cold, Ive been trying not to let my thoughts go dark, taper what is left of my dwindling rx and suffer excruciating nerve pain. My prayers go out to all my brothers and sisters out there suffering through this hell we have been forced to deal with. I try to think about how once we are forged in fire we will be stronger. I do trust God. Listening to praise music has been very healing to me. It has pulled me though some of the worst moments.

When will the USA follow the rest of the western world and allow PCPs to prescribe methadone, rather than limiting patients to methadone clinics so sparse, so far and few between, that patient accessibility is deeply cut lower than the low it’s already at? The United Kingdom and Canada both allow physicians, especially PCPs, to prescribe methadone just like suboxone and it is something objectively beneficial to increasing patient induction/intake, patient retention, patient sobriety levels, patient quality of life, and vastly increasing patient autonomy to find their best fit for healthcare provider for MAT. Why have we limited America’s patients to Methadone clinics over PCPs when there is no competition that clinics face and thus they have no incentives to offer proper care and quality treatment? We have allowed Methadone Assisted Treatment to become monopolized because most OUD sufferers only have one Methadone clinic within a 20 mile radius of their home (a distance as high as 100s of miles to the closest clinic in rural areas). Most of these people are at rock bottom when they get sober, thus most don’t have vehicles to even drive with. Why impede patient access to MAT when PCPs are exponentially more accessible and available relatively everywhere? And America has anti-Monopoly laws because of the dangers of any one company monopolizing their niche, such as poor quality products due to lack of competition offering alternative access to the same product. For profit Clinics in America have been on the rise, inversely proportionate to non-profit clinics which are on the decline . The Methadone industry as a whole is becoming more successfully and profitably exploitative of the needs of people with Opioid Use Disorder, but the quality of care is not increasing proportionally. The quality of care has also been inversely proportionate to the increase in for-profit Clinics. This increase stems largely from a recent trend I have noticed where large corporate conglomerates are buying up huge swathes of smaller chain and single institution Methadone clinics and truly moving Methadone clinics towards absolute monopoly. With PCP-prescribed Methadone, patients would be granted infinitely more options to choose from, creating dozens to hundreds of physicians to choose from rather than being restricted to one clinic as the only option, maybe two if you’re lucky. Competition is necessary within America’s capitalist free market to incentivize the creation of quality products. But the policies that allow only methadone clinics to prescribe methadone, policies which were drafted during and by the Nixonian-era of anti-addict stigma and dehumanization politics, have created something uniquely exploitable, uncompetitive, easily monopolized, corruptible, fraudulent, and worse that offers an increasingly poor quality treatment that is just sinking lower and taking the lives of many OUD patients down with its sinking quality level. Suboxone was approved as a form of OUD treatment in 2000, free of those toxic politics steeped in more grossly conspicuous stigma towards addicts in American presidential history. But had it been approved in the 1960s like Methadone, we would surely see Suboxone clinics alongside Methadone clinics today. It is degrading to have to “face dose” at 6 years into committed sobriety with clean drug screens to back up the honest truth; that despite my devoted lifelong sobriety, I am still subject to face dosing and the humiliation, degradation, condemnation, confidence destruction and worse that it causes due to the nature of face dosing. Face dosing is a practice that is inherently distrustful of the patient’s ability to take their medication as prescribed in a way that no other medicine in America is prescribed. And where some clinics are run with respect towards their patients, I am restricted to a clinic that treats their patients with indignity across the board from active OUD sufferers to the newly sober to those in the longest of term sobriety . I am forced to feel shame and indignity as a human being by my own clinic for the foreseeable future because of how few clinics exist, and how many of those small few are owned by the same company, I have no options, whereas PCP prescribed methadone would offer me countlessly more MAT provider options to be able to live a lifelong sober life with self-respect and freedom to live a normal life waking up at home with my daughter as a single father.
Not to mention the patient-physician relationships where the Methadone-prescribing PCP would have infinitely more detailed, individualized and personal knowledge of their patients identity, their needs and how to most effectively and respectfully treat their patients. This is a level of treatment care quality and efficacy that a Methadone Clinic Patient could never hope to receive while meeting once yearly with a doctor who doesn’t remember you among their 1,000 other patients at the same clinic. The clinic level of care is made all the worse by the stigma and bias bakes into the methadone clinic’s essential functions and policies from the stigma and bias. The influx of patients willing to enter treatment who were afraid of methadone due to the current nature of its administration being seen as “liquid handcuffs” uniformly by nearly all OUD sufferers, both active and sober. Patients would succeed in retention as well as quality of life improvement by being seen and prescribed methadone by a doctor who knows them, respects them where it is deserved , and can give them the best treatment, and thus the best chance of survival, sobriety, long term and lifelong success, prosperity, and many benefits to both the individual and the society they live in within.

No it's very effective at that. They mean if you give too much you'll hurt or even kill the patient quickly as opposed just getting them high and/or very dizzy.

I've used Methadone several times and I have yet run into any professionals( literally throughout the country ) that actually treats you with a real sense of compassion.

Been to clinics all over the country. They're all the same. They don't care about you, it's just a job for the counselor and Dr. If you don't have money for day oh well, come back when you got cash. I've had heroin dealers that were less of a hassle than most places. The Drs only let you go so high, even though the game has completely changed with fentanyl.

Then they'll give you pain meds because methadone takes away getting the high from it. But it still allows the opiates to take away pain, just no high

i love that! Metha-don't! I've went to methadone clinics 5 times in my life and ONLY because i couldn't get anything. and when i could i knew it would be a waste of money cuz i wouldn't get that feeling, that's what i got addicted to is the "euphoricness" i think all of us did, what else is good about pain meds except non-addicts they like to kill pain so they can work etc.. it makes me wonder how these ppl didn't get addicted...but back to what i was sayin, oh and I'm sorry to say, and ik ppl will argue this but i could care less. but if your using methadone, your still an addict cuz methadone gives that feeling for awhile, it quit for me. then i quit cold turkey camping one summer and that was it for methadone! now I'm on suboxone (which makes me an addict also) but I'm trying to get off all this stuff, klonopin, Adderall.. when ppl say I'm clean I'm not an addict, that's ok to say your clean but your still an addict. you'll always be one. i like the term "former addict" i really don't care what ppl think about me being an addict, i took the wrong road. but if they took a poll on how many addicts and how many that are not i think us addicts would win! which is a shame, we are still human beings that don't need put down, that makes me wanna USE! im just being truthful and everybody is entitled to their opinion and i respect that even though i might disagree. and we all have our war story which could help others out! but i don't think these 2 doctors are magnificent. that's my opinion on that. like it or not, till i quit suboxone, and psych meds ill be an addict just cuz its prescribed don't mean its ok, just hope one day i can say "im a former addict" truth hurts but its been so long since i been happy. :(
