This is my first camera that was bought specifically for video shooting. And I'm still in awe of her (for 2 years now) It is very versatile, fast in operation and very unpretentious, and at the same time the picture from this camera is simply incredible!
@@aman681 depends on the camera. We own several A7SIII’s, A7IV’s, & a few of the new FX30’s. I’ve never had an A7SIII overheat in any settings in any temperature. Even in direct sunlight. However, I have had the A7IV overheat in a long recording in direct sunlight before. Part of that was on me though for accidentally leaving it in 4k/60 during a 20+ minute take. So, as far as the A7SIII - it doesn’t overheat.
A good bit of lenses are in my setup these days. It really depends on what I'm doing. A current favorite is the Tamron 35-150 2-2.8 - it's a great "all day" lens for shooting live events. Another favorite is the Tamron 17-28 2.8 - this is typically for recording myself/real estate. I recently got a Sigma 35 1.4 for photos/family things. But, I also have/use a lot more lenses than those 3. When it comes to lenses, there are so many options because they all do something specific. If you're just starting out I'd stick to a 24-105 or something with a large range, then you can build from there as you learn your needs @@Markjonathan
Truly convenient and probably is the best way to describe it. It's so reliable I feel like a cyborg when shooting this camera. It frees up my mind to try different shots or get more creative. I've had the autofocus issue with my Tamron 17-28, but not with my Tamron 28-75. I only had the issue when it was rainy or wet environments. Without diving too deep I'm assuming it was a weather sealing issue for my specific problem.
The man, the myth, the legend. Totally agree with you! I don’t have experience with the tamron lenses but I’ve heard they’re awesome. Stoked you dropped by man! 🙏
@@TylerEdwards Idk about all that, but the image has made me look better than I am on set. Tamron 28-75 spends A LOT of time on my Sonys. Great range for full frame. Thanks for putting your thoughts out there. Great channel!
I own the a7Siii and I can take photos with it as well (unlike FX3) and I have it all rigged out as a cinema camera with shotgun mic and Shinobi monitor and Smallrig handle OH and I have a STUNNINGLY GOOD EVF where I can in sunlight, see my zebras - check my focus - and take nice photos. See what I did there? 😊
Awesome, thank you! Split between this and the R5. Love Canon color and lenses but unsure if the R5 can handle the low-light shooting I want to take on (pre-sunrise hikes, high dynamic range sunrise and sunset shots). Do you have any thoughts Tyler?
if just focused on video solely, i would get the a7s3 but both cameras are very capable at doing that. also, R5II is rumored to be announced next year, so it may be worth waiting for that.
Sony has come a long way. I remember using the OG A7s and being amazed by the lowlight, but HATED the color. That being said, I did love it for photography.
Ya the older 8-bit Sony cams didn’t look nearly as nice as the newer ones for sure. Still manageable to get a good image, but definitely took more work in post.
Its a great camera I was considering getting one, and then Sony released the A7R5, the rear screen and improved ibis - auto wb - metering and AF, is just to good to pass on. Plus the medium and small raw options make it a very versatile camera. Im going to get the Tamron 20 - 40 with it, the 40mm can get me 60mm at 30mp, so a nice focal range for my work.
Nice! Ya for photos, it’s definitely way better but the rolling shutter performance on the 5 is a deal breaker for me personally. Hopefully the A7V and A7sIV get that new screen though!
@@TylerEdwards I mainly shoot 1080 for social media vertical and horizontal content - Im hoping the rolling shutter is kind of reduced in FHD. I'll pretty much have it stuck in 1080p 50fps. 👍
What do you think about the color in comparison with your BMPCC6K? I recently shot a wedding using a BMPCC6K & Sony A7siii, and when matching them in post it surprised me how crucial color science is, especially with skin tones. The Blackmagic looked much better.
Hi there. I start doing videos on travels and using bmpcc 4k but it needs big rig to work well and have big files. OFC i love braw but i start to crat a lot of content and i am wondering to witch to sony s3. What do you thing the gap is betwen bmpcc and sony a7s3? is the file flexible like 2/3 +/- stops expousor error during the recording or 2/3k kelvin difrent to push and match clips ?
@@scotey it’s a clog3 cinema gamut LUT that should release in the next week or two. This one I’ve been labeling it as the Crispy LUT and it’ll probably be called that because I’m terrible at naming things hahah.
I just started to get interested in cameras and shooting video. I really like this camera, but I also want to be able to shoot nice photos too. Is there a really nice hybrid camera that u recommend?
A7s3 takes great photos just not the best for large prints or banners. If just for small prints and web, it’s great for that but you just have to get the image in camera because there’s really not enough info for cropping. If you need more resolution, the canon r5, r6 II, Sony a74 are all great hybrid cameras
I’m planning to buy Sony A7SIII and I wanna ask that is Sandisk V30 UHS-I enough for shooting 4K 60 in XAVC-S? Cause I’m currently using that SD card and wondering do I need to buy a faster SD card like V90 SD card or CF-express Card?
I would personally get V90 cards so that you know you’re good. This looks to be a good resource though: alphauniverse.com/stories/quick-guide-to-memory-cards-for-video-with-the-sony-a7s-iii/
Nice video Tyler. I think it would be great if you made another video talking about what camera system you like for different types of jobs. Red, Blackmagic, Sony, etc. How do they stack up to each other and why you would choose one over the other for a particular job. Also what is your best all around camera system if you could only have one to do any type of job? Also good a/b camera combos that work very well together. Thanks!
Are you referring to the footage of a former special forces green beret operator training law enforcement and military personnel in a safe and controlled environment? I’d hardly call that “playing with guns.”

Is it worth to buy in 2024?
these new sony cameras are incredible. they’re so versatile, tiny and pack a punch
the komodo / a7siii combo is so nice

Love this camera. Totally agree about the plasticky look of ISO 12800
Nice compact setup!! It was cool to see all of the BTS shots in there.
Ya so stoked on how compact this setup is!

How do you compare a7siii with lumix S5ii ?
Honestly, without having used the S5II, I can’t give an honest answer. The S5II looks awesome though!
Why'd you choose the A7SIII over the FX3?
Evf, form factor and price.
Do you think the Sony A7S IV will come out this year? When do you predict we will see A7S IV?
No clue when it will come out
how does this compare to the lumix s5iix
I haven't used the s5iix, so I cannot give an honest answer other than comparing specs which is pretty useless IMO
What lenses are you shooting with when it comes to Sony?
Sike! I commented too soon. Killer vid. Please let me know of any other lenses you'd recommend!
Haha. Pretty much those two lenses cover everything but I really want to try out the 24 1.4 GM at some point.
Hows the overheating in 4k 60 out in the sun?
