Trying out Hobbyking's servo tester with centering function. The tester can cycle servos, provides manual operation and will set your servo centre for installing the servo arm in the correct position.

Good point on using a balance plug to power it! This way it does not have to be only a 2s battery but any lipo is the same as long as you use the first 2 pins of the balance plug.

+Darryl Edington If you use the balance plug of any type of Lipo, you are going to use always one cell (the first 2 pins starting from black wire) which is only 3.7-4.2V. That voltage range is totally ok with that device! My concern was about the third pin (which is indicated as signal) but apparently from the video it is ok to use a positive +7.4V...

+Darryl Edington I never said he used 7.4v and I am pretty sure it will damage something if you exceed voltage. I said it's ok to use any lipo battery as long as you plug in the balance plug because they are all the same. I guess it's not using the third pin which would give 7.4v measured with black wire. I hope it's clear.

your battery is 7.4v and it clearly says 4.5-6v so why does it work???

When you use the balance plug (not the power plug) you only pick up one cell (ie half the pack voltage), but that's sufficient to run the tester OK.

Wait how is the balance lead not putting out 7.4 also? Could you do this with a 3 cell as well? It seems like usually the balance tap puts out the who,e voltage of the lipo no?

When I am testing a motor can the ESC have a BEC built in?
Or will it break or short the tester?
    Thanks!

Hi I want to use a USB battery pack 5V 2.4A, can I plug it in directly into the servo tester or do I need some kind of voltage regulator in between?

5V should be perfect for this seeing as it's the same output voltage as a BEC. Just make sure the polarity to the tester is correct - reversed supply voltage will zap your servos !

I used a 3.7v battery to run a bl motor using servo tester...the motor is beeping..servo tester manual led is not blinking

take your battery holder off your swiffer™ sweeper, which is four AA batteries. They even labeled it + and - ! then just feed that into your power for this servo tester.

i have one question, can i connect it into esc and drive brushed motor?

Hi - I'm not sure about the brushed motor. This is meant for servos!

yes you can, also works with brushless setup

if i short output signal pin to esc 3rd wire can i test a motor and esc?

    • @realflow100
      @realflow100 7 лет назад

NO! absolutely not. You have to do it a different way
You simply plug the BEC connector into the servo tester input make sure its on manual and turn the speed knob up slowly to see if the motor rotates
      Make sure to observe polarity
and also make sure battery is attached to the ESC (NOT the servo tester)

Your servo tester is home to a Bug 1:42
