Great video. Thanks for posting! It helped me figure out how to configure my CellMeter 8 to test my brushless drone motor even though that was not tester you were using.

In 40 years of flying RC (20 or so using the brushless technology and testers we use today) and thousands of RC videos, this is the most useful, I honestly had no idea my tester could handle such loads for motor testing. Thank you Stuart

The tester is only supplying the control signal, the ESC handles the power to the motor.

Excellent, Stuart ! This was a VERY USEFUL & CLEAR presentation of an alternate application of a servo tester which l haven't readily seen elsewhere.

Couldn’t imagine not having a servo tester in my toolbox, works great for a great deal of applications, including centering servos for proper linkage set up, to motor or EDF checks and run ups, thanks for another great tip Stuart 👊🏼👊🏼

Great tips Stuart. I've never used a servo tester for that...great use for it!

An excellent tip video. I've always thought this could be done but have yet to have the need to do it. This method is so much easier than doing it in a bound model and swapping ESC and motor till I found which part was faulty. HobbyKing was very wise to get you back.

Thank you finally I've been looking for just that for a trolling motor for my kayak using a brushed 880 esc from hobbywing. Best video I've found.

Better way: open up the box, put a 100 ohm resistor in series with the LED.
(Or try different values until you get it the brightness you want.)
Also, the metallised film bags that ICs are packed in make very good darkening filters for overbright LEDs. Maybe two layers.

Great video! I did not know about the ESC and motor testing capability. Is there a practical limit (say1500 watts) for controlling a motor under load with this tester, assuming right size of ESC and battery? Also, when testing servos I have been powering this tester with 4 alkaine AA cells- is that OK?

How many AA cells should I use to provide power to test motor and/or servos ? 2,3,4 ??

I just received mine and coincidence how a video was just released for it. LED's are blinding bright could use those on our planes.

Landed in bush, smelled like speed controller burned out. Tested replacement speed controller and it works, motor runs great. Took plug and put it into receiver. None of the servos responded. What could be wrong?

I suggest join a Radio Control Model forum, you may need to post a diagram to explain the problem.
