Phenomenal review!!!My favorite rod ever I use it for almost everything from Ned rigs to Zman finesse frogs. It’s an amazing rod
I’m a big fan of these spinning. Great price, excellent balance with a 2500 Vanford or Stradic FL, really comfortable grip, very good sensitivity, classic look. The cork is a bit cheap but that doesn’t bother me. I pick this rod up often over more expensive ones I own. The 6’6” medium is a great jerkbait rod with a nice short handle.

Paired with a 2500 Tatula spinning reel this rod almost leaves you thinking that it doesn’t have the power because it is so light in your hand. Don’t underestimate the power the rod has. Great rod for shaky heads. Waky worms , tubes etc. Best balanced rod on the market along with high end Shimano rods. Excellent price point as well.

Rewatching this video and it is on point after fishing them for a few years. The only Elite spinning rod I can say is better on the spinning side is the Chris Johnston Hairjig. That thing is incredible. I think if you get that rod and a 7Ft Medium and Medium light tatula you got a killer spinning lineup to throw anything.

Never tried the tatula rods, but I own 11 tatula spinning reels. I was miserable when Daiwa discontinued the “good fuegos” and the Sol spinning reels. The tatula has made the transition much less painless. The best and lightest reels in their price range.
I just got into fishing, and purchased my first rod.. Was looking for a one and done, ended up with the Daiwa Tatula 7’3” spinning rod and Kage lt 2500 reel, heading out in the morning for my first cast..

Just received the 7' MF from Discount Tackle. Not any real discount but the rod is a thing of beauty. Hard to believe spending more would produce better quality. It's so light and obviously very strong. Going to take it on its first adventure over to San Diego bay to swimbait up some spotties. I've never had a rod this sensitive so it should be quite interesting. I know it's not really designed for salt water but I needed something more sensitive than a typical inshore rod for Calico and Spotted Bay Bass. Hopefully hook into a 8 - 10 lb. Halibut at some point to see just what this rod can handle.
Hey great video really enjoyed your in depth review. I picked up a Daiwa Rebellion 7’ medium spinning and it is an absolutely phenomenal rod. I’ve never had a higher end rod in the $200 range but this rod I feel even the slightest of bites. I know for example when my lure/bait hits a twig and when it’s a very subtle bite. You feel everything on this rod and it’s a very strong rod with great backbone. I can really muscle in those big ole Maine Smallmouth and Largemouth bass. The tip is also extraordinarily sensitive and it’s very very lightweight. I have it paired with a Daiwa Saltist Back Bay 3000 (a little over 9 ounces) since I’ll be using the Rebellion for schoolie stripers as well when they come up to southern Maine. I’d love for you to pick one up and do a review on it and compare it to your other rods. Thanks for the review on this Tatula and keep up your quality content!

i use a G Loomis IMX Pro 822s DSR mag Medium for drop shots and hair jigs also ned rigs
i use a 7ft Dobyns Fury Medium for Weightless senkos, finesse jigs , small swimbaits like keitech 2.8-3in range
my buddy has the tatula medium 7ft with a tatula LT reel on it and it’s such a great combo it’s better than my Fury Nasci combo for sure
I went to Thorne bro’s a couple weeks ago and was going to pick up the Tatula cranking rod. Went back the day before closing for their Muskie show 20% and it was gone. I went with the Daiwa Tatula Elite 6’9 Jerkbait rod. Ugh. Wished I would’ve just grabbed the Tatula before all this craziness. Anyways I’m happy with the action on the Seth Feider Jerkbait rod. Not so much into the color though.
I have a Kage 7'6" Flipping and it is an amazing jig rod, I like it more than my FMJ and GLX 894. Just as sensitive as both and way better balance. Get one man you will love it! Tackle trap has great prices on em.

I got a daiwa tatula xt rod for my birthday that's currently sitting in the closet because it's been raining all week so I haven't been able to use it yet. I'm so excited to use it because I'm upgrading from a zebco hotcast. I don't like baitcasters so I've got a pflueger president spinning reel paired on it 😃

I'm owner of P5 destroyer & lot of orochi spinning rod. I just purchased(i live in france) Tatula Spin 701MFS is really marvelous for steady retrieve soft bait. For this reason i just order this evening the Tatula Drop Shot 6101MXS special drop shot for finesse worm & real worm. Honnestly i keep my megabass @ home recently and take lot of pleasure onwater with those pair of tatula. for the price it's amaging. real i got some ballistic FW LT 2000SSXH & 2500C-XH + a pair of talula LT 2000 & 2500. Ratio are equal From ballistic FW LT & Tatula LT. For this price i honnesty think sometime why paying high price Megabass ROD but the point they're nice fishing action is impressive on those light versatile Tatula. A french angler think the same about tatula serie
Great video as always! I was actually just getting ready to order this exact rod and this sealed the deal for me. I'm still deciding on which reel to get. Going back and forth with the Tatula LT and the Stradic FL.
Both are fantastic! I own both. The LT is much lighter but the FL is super smooth and had that tall Stella spool.

I totally agree. After I purchased the 7' med I liked it so much I went back and got the 7'1" ML, 6'8" med and the 6'10" med. I have the 17' Essence 3000MHG and Stradic 2500 on the 7' and 6'8" and the Vanquish 2500 on the 7'1" and 6'10. I just purchased the Tatula LT 3000 for the extra line capacity and less weight. I just hope it balances as well as my Shimano's.
@@philipfalco7304 Looking to grab one of these for a general purpose river rod, mostly just wacky and ned rigs. Would you say the 6’8” is pretty capable as a wacky and light (1/16 oz) ned rig rod?
@@jwo8189 I would go with the 6'10" med. for that work. It has a nice tip for casting and enough backbone and sensitivity for Wacky rigs. It's rated for 1/16-3/8, 5-12LB line. The 7'1" is a little too light and the 6'8'' is a Med. buy fishes like a MH. The 7'Med. wold be a good choice also but for your needs I'd say go with the 6'10 Med. Hope this helps.
I have the Exact rod with a 17 Shimano Exsence 3000 on it and I love it for my soft plastics. It balances perfectly. I totally agree that St.Croix needs to fix their balancing problem.
After seeing your review I ordered the 7ft M Tatula spinning from sportsmansoutfitters for $138 bucks delivered. I was going to buy a St Croix Victory 7ft M but the Tatula was cheaper and appears to have a wider range of lure wts of 1/8 to 3/4, I am getting to into walleye pier fishing in downtown cleveland (lake eire) and spring river fishing . I need to throw Smithwick P10s (5/8oz )and Rogue 20s for the pier and much ligher jigs for the river. I also want to use it for Senko bass fishing. My reel is the Lews Customer pro spin TLC3000. The Tatula also appears to have better guides than the Victory. I assume the gudes may be possibly work in salt water if I take it down to florida. Your reveiws are the best on the web for spinning rods. Thanks

Just picked up the Tatula Elite TAEL761MMLFS-AGS (took me a few months to track one down) that I matched with a Shimano Vanford C3000XG that I plan on using for floundering fishing from the surf throwing 1/4 ounce jigheads tipped with a 6" jerk shad
how does the sensitivity compare in this price bracket? I really love the zodias line at that $200 mark from shimano and only have 1 expride just because you get so much out of those, where do these daiwa's stack up in that 100-200 bracket among other options for sensitivity specifically? vs the curado line?

Great review Brian. Spot on. I have fished the Tatula line of rods, including the original release which came with foam grips. These rods are definitely firm, with almost Xfast actions on them. Not a ton of feel, but a ton of power, so great for moving type baits if you are looking for an inexpensive rod. Have you ever fished Daiwa's high end ie Steez spinning rod? Curious as to how those compare with the big boys, ie G Loomis, St Croix and high end Shimano?? Great content. Well done.
I had some of the previous generation Tatula rods, and I think these new ones are definitely an improvement. I did own a Steez spinning rod (non AGS) for 2 years but ended up selling it. It was very light and we'll balanced and very premium looming and feeling. I just have ADD and wanted to try other stuff and I sold it.
These are over half of my rods. They're amazing and not just at the price point. They're reallllllly light and pretty sensitive. I don't think the elites are worth the extra money even with the ags guides.
Have you looked into the new daiwa rebellion rods? They have an HVF blank and supposedly have SiC inserts for $200... seems like a killer deal. Great vid btw
They are very interesting. They're going to do probably be more rigid and heavy duty than the tatula rods.

I have handled them at Omnia fishing. They are really nice! Totally new HVF blanks and they are shockingly light. I would say they are a very good competitor to Zodias.

i’ve been told countless times the tatula , not the elite, just the tatula is one of the best rods you can buy under 200 bucks ... apparently the original tatula couple years ago were even more sensitive

Hey fella really enjoyed this video. So much so I tried to purchase the daiwa TTU701MFS for myself. Well, after searching the net for an hour, Nada zip! They had other sizes but not the above mentioned rod. Would you know if Daiwa is still making that model?
I wanted a rod to throw 1/4 oz shakey heads w/a 6 1/2 " straight tail worm. My loomis e6x 802 jwr was too light and the the 853 jwr was Imo too heavy. So I took your advice on this rod and ordered it. Well I actually got the 6'8" medium cause I'm more comfortable fishing with the shorter Rod. Anyways I haven't received it yet but am sure excited to get it and try it out. My only concern is sensitivity. Sure hope it's close to the e6x's in that Dept. Anyway thanks for the advice and review.
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! The major plus side with these Tatula rods is the weight and balance.
Got me a KAGE set up and it feels super nice. I feel like if its the same as the tatula the KAGE is better on price.
The Kage line are "dressed up" tatula's and are very nice for the price!
How do you like the micro guides on your Kage with braid to leader? No Reviews At All on this rod. Got one haven't gave it a go yet.

I picked up a kage 7’1 ML drop shot rod last year. Shortly after I ended up selling my nrx 852s because I no longer had a use for it, just didn’t suit my fishing style, and was far too stiff for my liking. The kage is surprisingly sensitive for the price, and I love the cork handle placement as I tend to choke up pretty high. I’m in the market to upgrade, but it just seems to have the perfect action, says it’s a fast but feels more like a regular bend or moderate fast. You seem to not like the 822 dsr what would you recommend for a casting style drop shot 1/8oz primarily?

I purchased the 6'3" Tatula cast for roll casting spinnerbaits and it's perfect.

@@5.7.0bassin2 I wouldn't recommend the 6'3' med for BFS, It has a more of a MH action. It's kind of limited in what it can do. It's def. not for BFS. I like it for throwing 1/4-1/2 Oz. Spinnerbaits on it because I like roll casting them in tight quarters. I have an old Shimano Crucial 6'3" which I use for some lighter stuff. If you want a Good BFS rod for the Six, I would definitely recommend going with the Dobyn's Sierra Bait Finesse 691C. That's what I have my Six on and it's a sweet combo and the color also matches.

I am still on a quest to a nice spinning rod setup and came across this great review. In the comments people mention that they us the shorter version for jerkbaits. Would you say the 7' version could also handle jerkbaits like Ito Vision 110 junior well? How does these rods compare to more expensive Megabass Orochi XX series rods like Whipsnake or Ronin? Thanks.
Great review man! I've been looking at the tatula line for a while now. Do you have any input on the tatula xt rods? I'm definitely getting one or the other and that tatula LT reel for smallmouth and walleye! Keep up the great content
The XT rods are definitely a step down. If you can afford it I would look at the Tatula/Tatula Elite/Kage line instead. If that's too spendy check out Dobyns Fury or Colts as an alternative.

Do you think the 7 ft medium fast in this lineup would be good for all around techniques cranking, ned rig topwater etc? I know its aimed at a finesse rod. Mostly targeting small mouth. Looking for a all around quality rod not so technique specific.
7m is the go to for all around setup. I'm gonna be using mine for small underspins or neko

I think the elites have the svf nano plus blank whereas the tatulas have just the svf. But maybe svf nano plus and svf are the same thing, and they are marketed differently on different rods 🤷♂️

I love St. Croix rods but they have to fix their balancing issues with the spinning models. You would think such a great company would try an array of reels on their rods before they mass produce them or outsource them.

The Tatula 6'10" medium is perfect for shaky heads. I own 4 rods in this line and the 6'10" is perfect for that.
Great review but I'm not sure if the new Tatula has the same SVF rod blank used in the Elite and Kage. SVF is not listed on their website or anywhere else for the Tatula. It lists the blank as a X-45 concept blank. Might be something to think about as it seems SVF is a step up. Interested if anyone can confirm.
It says SVF printed right on the blank. Trust me, it's the same blank as the Elites and Kage. Dawia is giving you the same hamburger with different toppings.

@@PunchFishing lol Yes that is true as, Omg their specs on Rods looks screwed up imo! 🤔😂.....As I was recently trying to findout what the guide train was on the new Rebellion's series and there is no mention anywhere whatsoever on Daiwa's website the type of guides on these rods go figure! 🤦♂️.....So after some further online digging and some video footage I saw online here from a JDM Shop called Plat they showed the rod having (Fuji SIC) K Framed Guides which is a really good thing but, why the hell doesn't Daiwa just mention this on their website for the specs of the rod I don't understand! 🤦♂️🤷♂️😂😂😂

I am looking to purchase my first spinning rod and reel for finesse fishing. Looking for it to do some dropshotting as well. My price point keeps going up but I don’t have to pay 300 which is my top price I want to spend for a rod. What do you you recommend for a rod that will do drop shoting. I fish primarily from a Jackson Mayfly kayak. I was really thinking about the Tatula Elite AGS 7’1 or something longer maybe 7’4 or 7’6. I have also been looking at Shimano Expride and the Megabass Whipsnake. For me this will be my only spinning rod that I would like to do everything my bait caster won’t. Which would you recommend and if I went with any of these which length would be best. I have really liked the Tatulas but can’t make my mind up on lengths. The Expride has had great reviews and I don’t know a ton about the whipsnake. The struggle is real. I think I’m going to get either a Tatula LT reel maybe 3000 or a Shimano Stradivarius CI4 + 2500.
I have the 7'1 ML Tatula with a Shimano 17' Essence 3000MHG or 19' Vanquish 2500S and it's a Killer combo for drop shot. But if you can't afford those reels, the Tatula LT 3000 would be a great choice.

How was the sensitivity on the Tatula compared to the Expride? I’ve heard they’re light. Been eyeing one
Have you compared them vs any of the dobyns champion spinning rods? Or a mojo bass? Just wondering how they compare vs similar price point rods.
I've had Mojo rods in the past and I didn't love them. They are a bit dead feeling, as far as bend and sensitivity. I'd step up to the Avid X rods if you're at Croix shopping. They are much better all around. One of the best rods they make IMHO.

Hey man, I also wanted to ask if you think this rod would be ok throwing 1/8oz swimbait heads and underspins like the cool baits underspin with 2.8-3.3 keitechs. I had this in the 7'3" medium XF and i had to sell it because the tip was way too fast and a little too stiff to throw 1/8 and 3/16oz heads with little swimbaits. i'm considering get this one since it says it's rated down to 1/8oz and it's not an XF like the one I had. let me know what you think. looking for a do it all spinning rod. will mostly be used for tiny underspins and wacky rigs. i tried the curado 6'10" medium light and it was way too soft, and i want something longer than 6'10" since it doesn't cast far.
I think this rod could do that but it is a little on the stiff side for a 7' M. It's doable for sure BUT you may want to look at one of the Tatula Elites that are a little longer and have a more whippy tip, like the 7'3 Randy Howell.

I have this in the 7'1 med-light in this rod and it says 'drop shot' on the blank. What does this one say? I'm possibly looking for shaky head rod in this line. Thanks.
And I just saw the very end where you mention shaky head...but heavier shaky head..
It doesn't state anything on the 7' med but the 6'10 med is perfect for shaky heads.
Do you think it would be good for 1/4 ounce Texas rig dropshots for large mouth in the grass
The 7' med is perfect for Texas rigs but for drop shot you may want to go with the 7'1ML.

What do you think about the weight comparison between they tatula and expride? I own the 7ft med expride and was looking to get the tatula as a gift for my cousin.
They are both quite light, but the Expride is going to be way more durable with the "high power X" wrapping.
For Christmas I received a Daiwa Kage 7' MF spinning rod. Haven't fished it Yet. My concern is it has Micro Guides. Have you tried the Kage yet and how do you like the micro guides when it comes to braid to leader?
I have NO issues with leaders on my regular Tatula spinning rod. I've not owned the Kage rods personally.

Great review! How does this Tatula's sensitivity and weight compare to the Shimano Expride?
I agree with what you said in your Expride review about the front and back grips needing to be reversed and the Tatula seems just right on the handle design.
The tatula is very light, if you go in my video history I weigh all the spinning rods. The tatula's not SUPER sensitive but it's still a pleasure to fish because of it's balance and lightness. It's just about right for it's price point though. For under $140 it's a heck of a rod. I'd take them over a Dobyns Fury.

I can't speak for the Expride spinning models but I do have the 7' med Tatula and like it better than my Zodias 6'8" for balance and sensitivity. And you save $75 bucks.
If you could only have one, which spinning rod would recommend for weightless senko fishing?
I guess I'd go with a 7' M Shimano Expride because it's a wonderful all-purpose rod.

Hey. What rod would you get? Same price on both, both rods are 7'1 medium fast, both are spinning rods. One is a St Croix Victory the other is the Daiwa Tatula Elite/or Kage all in one same action and length. Thanks

Could you please tell me what the action would be like, your opinion on the Tatula 6'10" M/XF spinning. I know you don't have that model. Do you think it could do light shaky Hd. Small paddle tail ? Soft enough for D.S. I have a few ML rods that don't balance that great, & I think, I Grip my rod like you - pinky behind the reel stem. Looks like a fun rod. Thanks for your help and patience. P.S. also I asking about the same Cork series Tatula. Ray S
The 6'10" would be perfect for Shaky heads and small paddle tails but for Drop Shot, you would be better off with the 7'1" ML; it has a softer tip.

Hey man I have a question. On that Tatula LT reel, are there parts of the reel that almost look dirty? Like a cloudy look to it, if that makes sense? I just got a new one and mine is like that. Wondering if that's just the material they used or something. Thanks.

punchfishing white and black strip noise, is like the TV without signal. It happened after the dog join the scene and it happened regularly, about 1-2 frame every minute. Never mind, no big deal.
