I never do all that to cut. If i need to cut one clip, I select it and hit control B then hit backspace to remove the unwanted area or delete if I want it to slide into position. If I want to cut all clips from top to bottom on that section then I will just hit control \ and that’s it. Everything else is unnecessary. Backspace and delete gives you the two methods you need, no need to right click and all of that.

Agreed, in my workflow the number of times I want to ripple cut is very very limited - it normally results in a jumpy video that is too obviously edited. I use Ctrl-\ to cut and then generally I want to put something else inbetween so I'm happy to leave a gap where the removed section was.

Select "B", make all your cuts with your mouse for the whole video on the timeline. When done, hit "A" to use select tool. Go through timeline and hold ctrl + left click and select all the clips you don't want, hit your delete key once. Done. This video is too much work.

Actually this seems confusing, its easy for a robot know exactly what to select based on timing or if u r only cutting empty spacer but when u are cuting bullshit talking its hard without a marker. And the markers would take too long. Also davinci removes silences automatically so your tip is actually a downgrade of the video’s.

Tbh I still prefer the blade simply for the reason that the line of the playhead is too thick for me sometimes. B, left click, left click, delete. Still more steps than you need, but the blade just makes it easier for me to make a precise cut.
I really like your videos, keep it up!

I did the same previously. I have mapped F1 to Razor and F2 to "start to playhed".
But now I went back to blade. Why? It is more convenient.
My biggest problem is that if something is selected, F2, or "start to playhead" does not work. So sometimes something is selected, sometimes it is not. You never know.
The second problem is that blade tool is more visible. It has a smaller line and you will cut where your mouse is. You can do more precise work with it.
If you want to do the same with the playhead, you have to adjust its position above your clips on the "ruler", not on your clips. That is usually far away, so it is harder to be precise.
Also, with keyboard shortcuts you can use blade fast as well:
B, cut, cut, A, select with click, del.

I don't understand one thing though, what's the point of using the right click to display the menu and select "ripple cut" if you can simply press the "del Ins" key to delete the selected area? I always did it that way.
Anyway, it didn't work for me, I was able to assign a key to the razor and it worked, but for some reason, when I did the same to the "start/end to playhead" actions it didn't work :(

When I set the keyboard like you did, it makes the "End to Playhead" to work only in the "cut" mode of DR 18.0.2 but not in the "edit", same with the "razor" it works only in the "cut" window. Ctr B if I need to cut the whole timeline (razor), you would not-use this if you ned to cut one track. SO basically you will need the "cut" tool still, so what you need to do press B (for cut) , then press A to go back to selection tool, click on top of the section you need and if is ripple delete what you need, and not just delete the section, what you want to do, just hit Command + delete, it is 3 steps and easy,

I make talking videos and sometimes I don't speak continuously in the video so there are silence parts in the video.... So I have to trim the silence part 1 by 1.. is there any way in DaVinci resolve to automatic detect the silence part and cut them there is silence detection feature in wondershare filmora is there such feature in Davinci resolve

Great Video! Thanks! I come from AVID. I am used to edit like this.
Set IN-Point with „I“ go to OUT-Point and hit „O“ and then „X“ to ripple cut.
I am very used to this method. Can it be mimicked in Davinci Resolve?
    Thx!!!

Yes, you can I - O and then fn Delete (macbook pro key board) - so basically as others said Delete or Backspace for ripple delete or leaving a gap.
